  1. Really? Christ I'm going to throw that degree certificate away now. It's not square but jotting down some rough calcs: 6,400 in Chapel 6,400 in Northam Leaves 20,000. I'd guess each 'corner' (most of the time they are closed) would roughly hold 1,000 leaving 8k in Kingsland and 8k in Itchen. So not such a stupid statement was it?
  2. I posted in another thread at HT that I thought it was around 10k in the stadium and I still stick with that (least of all that Saints FC would have to fraudulantly enter the money into the books if they had sold 16k tickets but only put 10k down officially). If SMS is 32,800 seater stadium then I'd guess Itchen would be around 8k and Kingsland around 8k. Kingsland was pretty full I'd guess from where I was sitting but Itchen still had spaces as can be seen in the below pic during the game... It did fill up a little more but there were still considerable gaps. Thinking about it, anyone got a pic of Kingsland to see if it was completely full or if it too had gaps?
  3. Do you know if it's televised? Had a quick look and can't find anything specific in the listings....
  4. Agree with you SS on that - didn't think we performed that well in the 2nd half and the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half appeared to be all Northampton. Lallana was my MoM with James coming a close 2nd. Some good foundations there and everyone apart from Wotton seemed to have sparks of brilliance. Excellent result that we were the largest crowd of all the games tonight but feel sorry for those that were in the ticket queues that are the largest I've ever seen and went on for ever!
  5. Fab photos my neighbour Puts my attempt to shame !
  6. Good crowd here .. Kingsland nearly full - Id guess 10k. Lambo looks like the captain. good work with a pass out to james on the wing and a return for the goal. Lallana having a cracking game and also liking james. Defence looking shakey. COYR
  7. OK - so mad mad weekend and I've only just had a chance to upload a couple of vids -
  8. And not a good move putting in the match programme that you'd got new players early on the non-season so they could 'gel'. OOPS!
  9. Maybe a little OT but AP needs to make sure he sorts the ball boys out as well. Murty could have had a fantastic opportunity if the BB had given him the ball quick (OK so we did score at the throw in after all) and a few mins later a similar mistake by the BB
  10. Normally and upbeat poster but the beer queue is getting worse and worse each time. complete lack of discipline at the back and a drought up front. grrrr Enjoying the game though and seeing saints Web sponsorship on the big scren! anyone get a pic of it?
  11. I've heard there are plans afoot already for 2010/11 season for H&W to do a similar deal with their STs and free entry to Farton Park.
  12. Oh god, they're in this thread too. Paraphrased - the sentiment is there in the words but might have paraphrased some of his sentances. Which concern you and I'll go and rerun the vid and make sure it was right - alternatively sign up for £3.99 a month and hear it right from the horses mouth
  13. OK - forgive any mistakes or if I've missed something out.. but here's a rough transcript.. I repeat - rough transcript!!! Interviewer: Looking ahead to the start of the season? AP: Nothing more exciting than the start of the seaons. At the moment our side looks strong and determined for Sat. Hope the enthusiasm of the occasion works in our favour. Got to strenthen the side still but got a team that we hope will do us justice Need depth and choices - team almost picks itself to a certain degree. Lot of young players learning their trade. More power and pace needed in the side - will improve that as we go along. Interviewer: So you've signed Murty... AP: Both him and Harding bring Championship level. Certainly give us strength and experience and help our wide players who are both very very young Interviewer: Jaidi? Centre half ? AP: Looking to strenghten all areas - trying to broker a deal - probably going away from us at the moment - don't want to elaborate - but that kind of player is needed. In: 10 point deduction? AP: Fans and reaction of those I've spolken to have been excellent. Put minus 10 points to one side and build the side as quick and powerfully as possible. Season tickets are brilliant, club has potential but unforutnatley in football doesn't equate to anything. Have to find something more substantial, good scouting and good players. We need to strengthen all areas. Scouting division we're sadly lacking even on junior side. going to fix that. Running mad from here and there to get new players. Be assured Soton fans that we're going to get stronger and better from here. Interviewer: What about the Millwall game? AP: Tough for us - they are favourites. Need fuel from the crowd, adreneline in the dressing room. Let's get the crowd on our side. Interviewer: First game on the TV as well? AP: Always adds a bit of spice - hope that doesn't turn fans away. Need them more now than the end of the season when we'll have a stronger team. Give us everything you've got!
  14. "But don't forget it's me who put you where you are now And I can put you left back too" Ps for those that are confused
  15. Bet he didn't think at his first cap for Scotland against Wales that five years later on he'd have the world at his feet.
  16. He was NOTHING until SaintsWeb sponsored him - now he's coming out of his shell :smt040
  17. Gonzo - thanks for that!! Have done it and, indeed, it does load a h3ll of a lot faster than IE on the phone. (not worried about the data transfer as I've got an 'unlimited' plan). An excellent workaround though as the archive site didn't allow posts which was a PITA when you're on the road on the way back from a match and want to post! Cheers again
  18. Top job Steve!! We're famous As for the monthly newsletter from each of them, think someone mentioned that they wouldn't have to attend any events on behalf of their sponsors so a page of A4 once a month of experiences would be a suitable compromise - and would be really interesting to hear their side of things! (and hope it isn't heavily censored by the club)
  19. stevegrant wrote : "So there we have it... SaintsWeb Forum Members will be sponsoring Graeme Murty and Simon Gillett for the forthcoming season" Fantastic result to have snapped those two up and a chance of at least one of them starting each week! So what happens now? When they are shown on the big screen at the start of the match it'll say "Sponsored by Saintsweb" ? Also, how much were they each and was there anything left for Saints in the Community? Finally, are we going to ask them to do a monthly 'this is what it's like' article for Saintsweb?
  20. To quote Tractor_saint "Hope I'm allowed to paraphrase these interviews"
  21. Sadly not, but the interviewer didn't ask Kelvin about new players but Kelvin offered up a few 'hooks'. Unfortunately AP didn't get asked about the new players but he also didn't offer anything up about new players.
  22. FAO Donkey Um, I know I said I paraphased it and may have missed some bits out but I think that covers what you mentioned does it not?????
  23. (Hope I'm allowed to paraphase these interviews for those that haven't got time / the money to sign up for Saints TV / Player - should have been a seccy as I've got speedy fingers although the legs are not that good) AP started by talking about Sir Bobby and his best wishes to his family. Interviewer: "This weekend at QPR" AP: "Football is a game. For us it's a living and we have to approach it in a professional manager. Took players away from training ground. Took 3 days out from the ground and had a superstars event that the staff won (worries me) and if the team doesn't win next time we're really in trouble. Good set of players / professionals. Problems with how to play away. Not ready for QPR and not ready for Millwall. Big steps already though. Hope it's reflected tomorrow. Have a stern test tomorrow - contender for promotion. No favourites in Championship. Good test - stand up to them, make sure we can physically cope. Young players - just need some help." Interviewer: "Surprised Stern John didn't sign?" AP: "Not best pleased he didn't sign - made excuses about his agents. Assumed he would sign. Even mentioned his agent had family troubles. Never asked for more money - never implied any problems. Then said he was going to leave. Disappointed in him and his agent. But would want to wish him luck. Way he done it, think he'll reflect and feel it wasn't right and correct manner." Interviewer: "Is that a set back then?" AP: "Of course - leaves me with two Polish internationals that fear for their Polish career - trying to convince them they can play internationally and in Div 1 if they score. Hanging over football club. No point if motiviation isn't there. Couldnt carry Ronaldo in this division if motiviation isn't there. " Hmmm - no mention of any new players
  24. You sure of that? I didn't think I could listen to my 'other' club's matches via PremTV - you can only listen to those that your subscribed team are playing in... Another example, I've signed up to two sets of text alerts, one for Saints and one for the 'other' team... I'm in the wrong job.
  25. Amazing in these times to think that Bobby was a manager for the same team from '69 to '82. Bought a tear to my eye this video: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8178547.stm
