  1. Seems like a good plan, what could possibly go wrong? How long before one of Portsea island's leading financial experts pops up with a theory that we are so far in debt that the club is likely to go pop at any moment? Now where did I put that pamphlet on how to explain the difference between servicing debt and insolvent trading to people who don't want to hear it and who can't grasp simple economics....
  2. £25m? Is that the deposit? You can have Shane Long for that.
  3. What a great night for Davis! What a great week for him!! Excellent.
  4. Nah, they're just deluded.
  5. Mero, occasionally grounded, but still capable of the odd Ho moment. Meanwhile in the news today.... The Trust are now exploring the option of a golden share, which could be used to veto any potential sale should the group fall below a 10 per cent ownership stake in Pompey. Have they finally realised that they need external funding to progress or are they just worried about erosion of shareholding? I'm not sure any potential buyers will be too impressed with a 10% shareholder demanding that they jump through hoops. The eternal problem - they want to own it, but want someone else to fund it.

    Ched Evans

So is his defence, a rape took place while he was also having sex with her, but he had been given the okay before she passed out, whereas his mate, who he allowed to join in, hadn't been granted permission? If that's the case, maybe he can walk free with his reputation intact.

    Van Dijk

I don't know yet how good he is, but he certainly looks good enough to have kept Brendan Rodgers in work for a while longer had he been a bit sharper in the transfer window. How come we keep digging up gems that other clubs miss? Or do we work with players on strengths and weaknesses better than other clubs do? Either way it works for me.
  8. They do seem to be establishing a culture of booing...which is a bit out of order when it's 0-0. Perhaps they are starting to realise that they are about as special as Mourinho - your own self-congratulatory hype only carries you so far. It may one day dawn on them that the real heroes of world football are fans of struggling clubs like Sunderland and Newcastle who pay top dollar to watch sh!te, but turn up in numbers for ALL games, not just when they are playing Southampton.
  9. And what was the ref's excuse for missing the VVD shirt pull? If he didn't notice he did have two dudes with flags - and the 4th official could have given that one from the car park. Jose is right, we need more honesty from officials blah blah rant etc.
  10. I thought it was a great bit of satire at first....sadly I think it's just people thinking out loud, and making ruthless but valid electioneering points that you don't want people to hear. I think I'd be more upset if I was a hardworking family who is now being targeted for cuts in a U-turn from the manifesto message. It seems the turkeys voted for Christmas.
  11. as do car accidents.
  12. Did anyone else happen to notice the difference between the fortunes of pompey and Saints this weekend? One might suggest that it demonstrates the gulf between us quite nicely. We could only muster a handful of supporters for the trip to London, who all booed the team before leaving early - whereas the mighty pompey packed the park with owners of the club and battled their way against the odds to a valuable point against the Galacticos of champions-elect Yeovil. And they've got a book out. #jealous
  13. That keeps them joint top. If you take into account their pluckiness, passion and the two league titles just after the Crimean War.
  14. Oh, I hadn't considered that.
  15. I would imagine that an insurance claim could be Plan A for funding a new ground. They won't do it any other way. I seem to recall that Redknapp's useless rundown seafront building suffered a terrible fire that led to new apartments. Not quite as many as he hoped, but the profit must have helped him get over the shock of the fire.
  16. 48.48%? That can't be right, they keep telling us they own the club, not less than half of it. I'm no mathematician but shouldn't the number be something like 100% to claim ownership?
  17. That pic of Moran made me chuckle! Well I was an angry young man on page 698. Funny how five years on, some of the few still don't understand what happened. We must be due another attendance debate pretty soon, though I see their full houses aren't looking that full. Top of the table, fan-owned, biggest club south of London but still not packing the park?....time to build a bigger stadium!
  18. Facebook? More like ******book... Let's fight cancer - if you don't pass this on it means you love cancer! Plus all the racist scaremonger stories about made-up shops refusing to serve imaginary soldiers, or terrorists trying to get cricket banned, myths happily promoted by thousands of simpletons. It's like Fox News and their campaign to tell America that Birmingham is under Islamic law and no one British is allowed in the city. The most worrying aspect is the number of people out there who question nothing - and by endorsing stuff they just promote hate and ********, fueled by their own stupidity. I firmly believe that the only way we can prevent this is by randomly passing between us a low-res stock image of a candle of hope. I heard that one guy didn't pass it on and his genitals went bad and he died, another bloke did pass it on and he won the lottery, the very same day. Do the right thing.

Of course.....and you are going to travel and meet a tall dark stranger.

    Drink?

A mystery man wandered in, predicted the future, bent some spoons with his mind and then left.... Perhaps he'll stop while he's ahead and protect that 100% record.
  22. If you can wait for two CVAs, that £16.99 will come down to three pence, which you can spread over five years. It's the pompey way.
  23. He is da man. Well deserved award, and it was great to see him on the running track at SMS.
  24. If you are feeling low there are now three things that will always make you smile. The statue of Ted, Penny going off the top board and that 'corner'.
  25. You wouldn't think a corner could make you laugh out loud. I think it was the anticipation that added to the spectacle. Possibly the worst attempt at a corner since Marc Bolan's girlfriend gave him a lift home.
