Yeah, silly me.

I've assumed they will get promoted for the last three years, it makes it so much funnier when they don't. When they probably rip up the division this season we'll have to put up with the return of the likes of the Ho, and my neighbour who has now been hiding across the road for six years. No doubt they will be on the way back to the Premier League and we'll have to write from history the hilarious home defeats, the non-sell-outs and the booing, it'll be branded the bestest promotion ever - but at least we'll get the new treat of them struggling in League One. Every cloud... Are they still pretending they are fan-owned?
-
I've just had a pompey fan laughing at me because they've sold more season tickets than we have. And it's that type of portsmyth that keeps this thread ticking along.

That boy band isn't going to be troubling the charts anytime soon.
-
and after the bonding fry-up they could then be filmed by local news, jogging along the foreshore pretending to prepare for a giant-killing cup tie in 1972. It would be like real football.
-
If I was looking to win promotion I would put out the strongest team and attempt to destroy the opposition in these friendlies - for at least the first half. What are they going to learn from tinkering about and losing at Sutton?

dial up pompey, pompey dial up!

There is a difference between a professional football club and a football club that happens to be professional. Evidence suggests they are the latter.
-
I blame the TV people. They keep showing games with crowds in them, and sometime soon one of the faithful is going to put two and two together and realise that their own atmosphere, against Cheltenham or Crawley, doesn't actually compare that well to proper big boy football.

How many owners get their names sung at every home game?! Top man.

Match news - The south's pluckiest gave mighty Sligo Rovers a bloody nose! It was always going to be tough. Cook's battling troops ran their opponents ragged. He was pleased. 'I was pleased' he said. Despite conceding three late goals they hammered them 3-3. There were a lot of positives to take from the win. The travelling faithful were passionate. A new player was staggered by the support. It leaves pompey equal top in the Fantasy Friendly League. It's the first step towards winning the title. Again. Another new player looked promising. Cook was pleased a bit more. 'If anything we are too fit' he added, smiling. But his eyes looked sad.

Grab me an Explorer map of The Solent area while you are there, ta.

They are going places - Crawley, Hartlepool, Cheltenham...
-
They offered me a two-year deal while other clubs offered a one-year deal said their new 33 year old... #stillspending
-
They were back at the club's elite sporting centre of excellence yesterday - well, they were running around Wicor Mill at Portchester, hopping between the virtual dog turds.

pompey in talks with various potential battling plucky recruits.....Messi steps down from international football....coincidence? News that would make the most dry-mouthed slack-jawed yokel drool.
-
It’s the best football I’ve seen in years. I think we’ll definitely go up next season. What?
-
Getting a result at Fratton Park in front of a big, passionate crowd is still a massive coup for many clubs. Yeah, pompey being one of them.

You beat the Echo!
-
If I was them I would be fearful of a fixture between their first team and our youth team...
-
Those stats are misleading... They've managed to get 81% down to 9% through two CVAs -and the 9% won't bother to take them anyway. And let's not forget that Knowsley is just a safari park and chimps are not renowned for academic success - though they do make nice tea and are great at moving pianos.

I didn't see this on the template - And the former England C international sees no reason why the Blues cannot become the next Burton Albion in securing successive promotions from League Two to the Championship. It's good to have a dream.
-
Fair play Jimmy - none of us saw it coming! There's a few hats being seasoned and cooked up out there.
-
They never learn - new player, same old template. And the sought-after central midfielder, who ignored offers from other clubs to join the Blues, is targeting a season to savour on the south coast. He said: ‘The manager sold me the potential of the club, the history of the club and what it means to play for a club the size of Portsmouth. ‘When that call comes it is not one you can turn down. It is now up to us to really give them something to cheer about. Having experienced the atmosphere on the final day of the season – a game Northampton won 2-1 – the midfielder was won over by the passionate support of the home fans. He said: ‘I remember coming down for the game with Northampton and seeing a sea of blue around Portsmouth. ‘The whole community was blue and the atmosphere on the day was incredible. ‘I couldn’t even hear my team-mates next to me because it was so loud! ‘That was something that stuck with me. ‘Seeing what this club is like and how passionate the fans are – it doesn’t come around very often. ‘And for that to be your home support and to play in front of that week in, week out, it is going to be special. ‘That was one of the main reasons why I made the decision.’ Yeah, that and the wages that other clubs wouldn't be stupid enough to match. You have indeed seen the chosen one. If you listened carefully you would have heard the slosh of the chemical toilet as he cornered, the very one that his crew share as they travel the motorways of the UK.
