1. France has a legal 35 hour week, so before trying to denigrate a country get your facts right. 2. Not everyone in France work those amount of hours. You have 'cadres' in companies who don't count their hours and work like effin clocks. When you have work, you have work and you do it if you are a motivated employee until it is finished and deadlines are met. So 50-60 hours a week is in general the norm in the company I work for. So again, do your research before spoutting out b ull s hit on a country you know nothing about. I've had the priviledge of working in both and know the difference. You wanted to go down that road and I have just given you a clear answer. In what world do you guys living? Coocoo land? The world of football is a business, full of people who look after their own interests whether it is clubs, players or agents. Most players will try and force moves to further their careers or if they want to move clubs when they can't come to an agreement with their current club. It is a fact of life, deal with it, this is modern football for you. The sooner you accept it the better. Neymar is the latest of numerous examples over the years. Is it humanly ethical to do this? Probably not, but that s how football works now. Likewise, agents are so sneaky and will try very hard to get a commission, often without thinking of their client's best interest in a move or trying to suck out as much money from their current club to sign a new contract. Destabilising clubs are the norm by feading articles to the media, it is all part of a mafia where agents have their journo contact and pay them money to leak a story or invent false facts. Oh but this shouldn't work like this, as you are stressing players or directors at the club over this, this shouldn't happen etc... This is how the business works! And now to the subject of clubs... Do you think in your utopia world that clubs are that innocent? This is million dollar companies we are talking about, when an asset becomes a liability, is the highest paid player at the club, hasn't contributed for over a year and a half to the club, clubs have leaked stories in a past over these types of players to get rid of them and for fans to turn on them in order for them to move on, it is called encouring a player to the exit door! Again you think that I am a first class t osser for suggesting these types of things but this is how it works so stop living in dreamland. They don't talk about it because they would get into trouble if it was out in the open and like someone rightly said they would get sued but I can guarentee you that this has already hapenned and will happen again. And finally, nobody knows Forster's mental condition and you act as experts of mental illnesses who think they know the whole picture when you don't even have the clue (I don't have the pretention of saying I know all about it either).

My earlier post regarding Forster was entirely justified and I stand by it. You make think I’m a bellend or whatever but when I see people in companies in France going through the motions because they have job security and no motivation whatsoever in their job, I understand why companies try the dirtiest tricks by the book to try and move them on. In life you want people with ambition who try and set themselves goals and do whatever it takes to achieve them, that s what I would look for if I was recruiting someone. I myself go and see a psychologist because I wanna improve confidence in myself and try to be better in every aspect of life. So in a way I do have mental issues, but do I sit around and keep myself in a cushty job where pay allows me to live confortably? No I’m starting a new job in September with similar pay, a hard one which may give me loads of sleepless nights because of the pressure, do I back down from a challenge? No because I have the ambition of reaching my goals in life even though I know my mind might not allow me to but at least I wanna try because by doing thisjob it will open a lot of doors for me. In Forster’s case, if reports are correct about mental issues, well if moving somewhere else makes him a nervous wreck, at least try, knowing that if he succeeds then his career is back on track. Because sitting at Saints and doing nothing but train all year is going to do nothing for his career. His fat bank account might get fatter but that s it. And if I was an employer and saw somebody doing nothing at work, not wanting to take on new projects, I would seriously question the value of that person for my company. In england job security is non existent compared to contracts in football or job security in France so people have to perform. But when you have someone not contributing, with the highest pay at the club, mental issue or not, I would try all the tricks to make him move on. What impression does that give to the other players who perform but are paid less ? Not great for the atmosphere.

Make his life a living hell, tell him he is not welcome to the club anymore, leak stories to the media about him ready to sit out his contract and do nothing. That will turn fans against him, making him a hated figure on social media and in the street when he goes. That s how you go about things to force somebody out. The guy is the highest paid player at the club, does **** all, probably realizes he does’t have the level to compete in the PL anymore. If you have some self esteem, even if you are paid less to go somewhere else, you will still go to proove yourself or other people that you can still play at a certain level.
-
Well then force his hand then, let him know that if he is prepared to steal a living, freeze him out of training etc.. There is no room for sentiment here, mental health issue or not.
-
If that is the case then negociate a pay off of his contract. Don t want any passengers, we can t afford to pay him 60k a week. He may need help but we can t afford to keep him under these conditions especially if he isn t prepared to go play for another team.

Players we all thought were rubbish, but weren't

That I completely agree with, some know very little and are stuck in the dark ages of hoof football, getting stuck in bla bla bla. A lot of people on here hardly watch football outside of England, making some of their opinion comical as it is their only base reference. -
Sell when the player's value is at its highest, otherwise no need to sell as he can clearly offer us a lot. Ditto for Boufal, what is the point of selling at 8m when the guy has so much potential. Targett on the other hand, we sold when probably his value was at its highest over his time with us, so that is job well done.

Lemina just seperated from his wife a 10 days ago, so might not be in the right frame of mind at the moment...

I hope we stick a % sell on percentage to all players we sell. We always seem to have to pay their previous clubs a percentage when we sell the player but never in our case benefit from it. -
Getting 10-15 million for Stephens is not irrealistic. Austin 8-10 million Cedric as he has only a year left would probably command 10-12 million which gives us money to go for a young center back and a young right back (Maehle) Then get rid of the deadwood in Forster, Gallagher, Carillo, Clasie, Hoedt, Reed, Hesketh, which would give us money to bring in a very good defensive midfielder. Keep Boufal, Sims Long as we need trickery and pace in the side. And we would be set! Squad drastically cut down, wages bill largely decreased and promote within the academy. That s exactly how we should be going about our business.

I live abroad so come to games 3 times a year as my budget allows me to meaning it costs me twice the price of a season ticket. So not sure what are trying to prove ;-)
-
Negative negative negative. Ready to still punch someone singing non stop at a game?
-
Les Reed for the first. Ralph and Ross for the second ;-)
-
Austin is injured less than Ings. Ings is 27 and ended injured for 2 years at Liverpool, hardly played and we paid fricking 20m for him. On that basis, Austin is worth 10m
-
Thiago Mendes would be a great signing for our midfield but would cost a bucket load of money. Lyon will be difficult to fend off, hope Ndombele decides to stay now lol.
-
I d prefer to get rid of Forster, Austin, El younoussi, Hoedt, Carillo Stephens, Reed, Gallagher on low fees, so that we can save a ton on wages for the next few years. Keeping talented footballers like Boufal and Lemina is a better all round strategy. There will always be interest in our players including the ones we consider flops. We just have to be prepared to write some of our investment off.
-
Take 8m for one of the most skillful players in football and pay 16-18m for an unproven championship striker. Some fans here are a mess Let Ralph sort him out and then judge him next summer. His value won’t go much lower if it is really 8m. He basically for 2 of the most defensive minded managers in Puel and Pellegrino. How do you expect him to thrive in that sort of environment? Playing in an attack minded team will help him flourish.
-
He could have done better for 2 of West ham s goals. Don’t know what game the echo were watching.
-
It isn’t nothing. Most clubs in Europe can’t afford to pay those lind of fees. We have a limited budget our club record signing is 19m. Let the big clubs live in their lala land of overinflated fees. We have tight budget and I am glad we are sticking to it. Probably a year too late though as we completely washed away the Van Dijk money by completely overpaying for average players
-
Adams wants to come so it is just a question of finding an agreement with Bham Compromise on both sides needed and it is a go.
-
People need to have some perspective here. Why should we cough up and get him in at whatever cost. I vastly prefer to be hard at bargaining and not go over our valuation especially when we have a tight budget. There are plenty of other players out there equally as good and with potential. Likewise, if we want to get rid of players why should we accept whatever low offer that comes in just to get him off the wage bill. If it means we have to wait a little longer then so be it.

??? Are you Ok?
