Quick question: how do the kits fit in terms of size? Last season s kit i ordered an L and it was too big. The season before that when we made our own shirts an L fitted perfectly. Any idea on this one? Would think that americans sizes are big and therefore would need an M? I live abroad so don't get to try them on.

The club coffers doesn't matter to you? Is being competitive not important to you?

Exactly, some people seem too thick to understand this. It puts us in a position of power, if players want to leave, we can either force them to stay for a few years or demand a huge fee in return. 5 or 6 year contracts is what we should have done mane and wanyma at the time and we could have flogged them off for even more money. At least now the board have realized this and rectified it for all our new signings.

Looks like a Schneiderlin replacement with more offensive qualities. Looks strong in the tackle, can keep the ball, can spray cross field balls and good trough balls, can dribble through the middle at will. Seems like a very good signing.

*God no!

God know. Doesn t defend tries to take on everyone on his own, failed here in the past and only succeeded in France because there is a lot of space there.

Blows hot and cold meaning he had some good seasons playing good football and other seasons where Nice werent very good. Some years the quality of his squad wasn't exactly great. Even last year when you take out Ben Arfa (he had a period at the start of of 2016 whole of february if i remember well where he was injured), Nice struggled offensively It doesn't mean he is a bad manager, it's very difficult to judge because he has had mixed success. At lyon he got sacked because lyon ended up playing too conservative defensive football. I'd like to think he has evolved his management style over the years and learned from his mistakes but only time will tell. What i can say is that Nice last year earned a lot of plaudits for their style of play (swift attaking football, played out of the back and on the deck quite a bit and were not afraid to spread the ball wide and put some crosses in. Ben Arfa also scored some wonderful goals beating 4-5 players a lot of the time. They also had a poacher as a striker named Valere Germain (very small in size) who funnily enough got on the end of a lot of crosses by heading it in and finishing them. I wouldn t say they played extremelly high pressing like MP does at Spurs but they did try to play a relatively high line. They were also defensively solid. In midfield, you had Nempalys Mendy who played the role of DM, again relatively small but quick and physical. A bit like Kante but I wouldn't say he is at his level as he doesn't run as much as Kante. Vincent Koziello was brought in my Puel from the academy and is a huge talent. Good range of passing and put in some nice forward balls. A bit raw physically for me but that will come in time as he puts on some muscle (only 20 and looks like a 15 year old).

Tweets I posted about Puel: Yes I can tell you i've been watching French football for 10 years. Worried Puel doesn't fit with our philosophy In general, plays a very defensive style, boring football, that's why he was booted out of Lyon disagreements with Aulas Last year Nice played attractive football but this was mainly due to the form of Ben Arfa. Puel got the best out of him. Not sure he is perfect fit, blows hot and cold 4th with Nice then 11th and 17th the 2 previous seasons. He also has 2 sons he insisted on playing them. One left to Le Havre and one is still at Nice. Reminds me of Pulis with his son Anthony

Think Liverpool will end up paying a fee somewhere down the middle around 35 million. -
Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official
stevy777_x replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
At last the club have understood that 4 year deals are not enough and put us under pressure 2 years later if the player does well. -
Trust me, we haven't missed anything.
-
My god. Where has this come from? Pellegrini back to 5/1???? Klinsmann would be a disaster. No experienx'ce whatsoever. Board has lost the plot.

Yes yes and yes!!!

Do we have to accept a bid so early in the window when we know that clubs become desperate at the end of August and offer silly money? Plus, is it wise buying or selling players when a manager is not in place? This to me shows that the next manager will have near to no input on who will be going in or out. Situation could have been dealt with better had we signed him originally to a 5 year contract and not 4 years like we were doing at the time. Puts us under enormous pressure to sell after 2 years if we want to recoup more than we invested and 3 years to avoid him going for nothing the next summer. Anyway this has been rectified with last summer's transfers so i'm sure lessons have been learned.
-
Why the hell do we accept 9-11M for him with a year left on his contract and then go out and buy a less proven Prem player in Redmond for the same amount with a year left on his contract too? Les doesn't seem really good at negociating.

It is now being reported in France (l'equipe) that Rudi Garcia refused our offer of managing Southampton. 2 reasons are being quoted: 1-He cannot bring more than 2 assisstants with him 2-The way the club operates on recruitment. Is it our recruitment policy or the way the club is structured (transfer committee)? I guess at the end of the day, it depends how much we want him. Either we bend over to give him what he wants, either we get look elesewhere and find someone prepared to work under these conditions. Didn't we give Ronald more liberty on recruitment (Tadic, Pelle, Martina, Van Dijk) signings. Maybe the fact that we were already recruiting Redmond with no manager in place doesn't suit him.
-
Jack did say it wasn't 100% dead for Garcia just that other candidates are looking more likely.
-
Puel doesn t play a high pressing either. How much of you have watched a one of his teams play in the past? I've seen nearly all his career in Ligue 1, his football is boring and very defensive. There is no pressing whatsoever. A very uninspiring choice if we take him.
-
No he isn't. Plays boring and defensive football in general and this season Nice got all the plaudits for finishing 4th because Ben Arfa ran that team. Would much prefer Garcia who has an outstanding rep for being one of the only french managers that plays attractive football and the right way.
-
On top of that Garcia is a co-commentator of euro games on TF1/M6 in France so not sure he's fully available yet...

Love the Shane Long song the Irish are singing. Has it ever been sung at Saint Marys? How about singing it next season? In the 'In the box' interview, Shane also said that he liked it.

Nathan Redmond Joins on 5 Year Deal - Official
stevy777_x replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I'm sure the 11M mentionned is a structured deal payed over a few years and some of it based on app, goals and future england caps. If he manages to do that then it will mean he will have been a success for us, his value will have risen and norwich will be paid. A win win situation and that s how we go about our business. -
Half of the problem with keeping our players was because we didn t give them long contracts. 3 and 4 year contracts are insufficent because we are under pressure to sell 2 years after signing them. We seem to have understood that with new contracts to vvd jwp and ff as well as most of our signings last year signing five year deals.

As Emery is going to PSG, how about Laurent Blanc as manager? Won 2 trebles in the last 2 seasons. Talking about French managers Claude Puel and Rudi Garcia are also available.

I had the advantage of being in front of Itele when they announced it ;-)
