Transfer Deadline Day Jan 2017 Edition
stevy777_x replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
Don't the media team say that s it for tonight when there is nothing left to announce? -
1 is injured 1 has played 75 games in his career and is 36 and overweight 1 is 18 and not ready yet. 1 is on loan for the season. 1 is playing horrendously and doesn t command. Makes sense to take someone on loan to provide competition because let s face it the other ones are not. Watching ligue 1 every weekend, thr guy was mostly first choice last season, good shot stopping commanded his box, never hesitates to come out. That being said he is still very young a bit raw and is prone to making the odd mistake. Has good potential he

Much prefer us to be spending money this summer when better deals are available. Players showed tonight we can cope with the injuries. Boufal is back soon and charlie is a month away. Only doubt for me would be center back with Virgil probably out for a while. Let s get a loan and give the opportunity to Jack to play.

Everyone take a ****ing break. We are in the Premier League with good players coming through the academy, 90 mins away from Wembley. Let s enjoy it and get behind the team!!! I know where we were 8 years ago and it was pretty depressing. Makes you appreaciate the good times.

There are 2 main problems in the team right now: -Lack of cutting edge not only from our strikers but from the whole team. Final ball is woeful and when we do get into scoring areas we take an age to shoot. -Our GK. He is seriously costing us a lot of points. Palace, Spurs, West Brom and now Burnley come to mind. A lot of the goals conceded are saveble. Can someone provide an update on McCarthy? Until we resolve these 2 issues, results will be more of the same.
-
So I trust you think he is worth that then? I don't moan just for the sake of moaning. Boufal at the price we paid is a great deal for an up and coming player who has enormous potential. When we paid 12m for Long at the time, I thought it was completely overpriced. What we have here is a French international who failed a drug test, hasn't played for 8 months and was kicked out of Liverpool's pre season tour for behaviour issues. If we were sensible enough we would negociate a loan deal with a view of making it permanent in the summer. Paying 20 million is a smack of desperation and the complete opposite of Reed's comments of the January transfer window. I personally don't think the club are stupid enough to pay that sum, but if they are God help us. I have the priviledge of living in another country other than the UK, and From where I'm looking teams in England are paying way over the top for average players. Liverpool are taking the **** out of us and we'd be wise to look elsewhere if it non negociable.
-
So Liverpool want 20 million pounds for a player that hasn't played for 8 months when they weren t even willing to pay 20 million for Lovren who had had a fantastic season with us. If we end up paying that, we are complete amatures.

Injured 3-4 weeks

Injured. Hope it isn't too serious and he can come back before the end of January. If so that is a boost for us.

Perhaps Puel should follow Koeman and demand new players
stevy777_x replied to John B's topic in The Saints
When you think, a close version in England we have of him is Redknapp, demanding players in transfer market because the one he has are not good enough -
We are also dangerously close to 15th. Lose the next one and we might be well down there.
-
I posted this at the time when Puel was linked with the job in the New manager thread last summer, does any of this mirror today s situation? "Yes I can tell you i've been watching French football for 10 years. Worried Puel doesn't fit with our philosophy In general, plays a very defensive style, boring football, that's why he was booted out of Lyon disagreements with Aulas Last year Nice played attractive football but this was mainly due to the form of Ben Arfa. Puel got the best out of him. Not sure he is perfect fit, blows hot and cold 4th with Nice then 11th and 17th the 2 previous seasons. He also has 2 sons he insisted on playing them. One left to Le Havre and one is still at Nice. Reminds me of Pulis with his son Anthony Puel doesn t play a high pressing either. How much of you have watched a one of his teams play in the past? I've seen nearly all his career in Ligue 1, his football is boring and very defensive. There is no pressing whatsoever. A very uninspiring choice if we take him."
-
I thought McCarthy started training again. Did he have a setback?
-
So you prefer us to go for average players so you can have a moan at how average we are post match? Either way you are in a win win situation you always end up moaning
-
Very good young player who had agood spell in the psg side earlier this season. Composed, quick and plays the ball out of defensed. Not surprised we are interested, question is, are PSG prepared to let him go. Maybe we can do a 50M plus kimpembe deal for Virgil in the summer.
-
Very very poor goalkeeper. Apart from good shotstopping does nothing right. Even his shotstopping tonight was not good Doesn t command his area Doesn t come out to claim crosses or through balls Kicking is atrocious 1st goal could not have stopped it but was still rooted to his line, should at least try and save it. 2nd goal should have come off his line to punch it like lloris did numerous times during the game 3rd goal should have come more to block the angle 4th goal did not get down quick enough to make the save Puel tonight said Spurs were efficient. I wonder if he thought this was in part due to Forster's performance
-
Morgan stayed 7 years for us hence why I have a lot more respect than that **** Dejan Lovren
-
Get him home
-
Why are we not all over Morgan? Such a class player, just needs to be playing regularly again.
-
Puel so far, not a good fit for saints? or the man to take us forward?

Having taken over the club 2 months ago in a far worse position... -
And had still brought in Boufal, Redmond and hojbjerg ? Mane Pelle Wanyama were still contracted this season so we could have kept them (no business sense but a lot of sense sporting wise). Meaning we would have spent 40 million for summer arrivals. Rodrguez sold for 10 million so 30 million in spent in total. With new tv money this season that could have been done very easily. With a team looking like this : Forster Cedric Fonte Van Dijk Bertrand Romeu Wanyama Mane Tadic Boufal Pelle Subs: McCarthy, Redmond, McQueen, Austin,Yoshida, Davis, Hojbjerg. Options everywhere, very strong bench - reckon we would have been genuine top 4 contenders and qualified for knock out stages of Europa What do you reckon? Being a bit nostalgic on a saturday morning.
