You really think championship players are going to come down to league one to be squad rotation players?! We have enough pace with Guily/Puncheon/Chamberlain and Lallana has pace too. I think our team has the perfect balance right now.

Saints vs Manchester Utd - 4th Round FA Cup Draw
saintsmike25 replied to saint_bert's topic in The Saints
What an amazing draw, not only should we have a full house. But there will be NO pressure on the lads at all! And as I hate to say it, some will be wanting to put on a show for any scouts (Not Lallana, the likes of Morgan/Chamberlain). Going into this game, EVERYONE will be working extra hard for the next few games to get to play against Man Utd, Adkins now has a superb incentive for the players. If we do lose, we can concentrate on the league and as long as the team put in 100% there's nothing to get downhearted about. And if we win, think about the confidence that will do to the team, they'll play without any fear against any team knowing that they beat the best team in the country. -
Yeah sure although you'll kill me. Saintsmike is my gamertag.

Puncheon has an attitude problem and to be fair we can do better than him.
-
Heaven forbid a proud welshman plays for his own country instead of England.
-
+1 on that one. Alpine sometimes you should just rethink about posting nonsense on here.

One thing I'm slightly disappointed with in master league is having that I can't get a tiny budget with the likes of Castello etc in my team. I want to be able to struggle for ages then turn things around, which is what made Master League great! having to work hard to spend the money on a player who will make a huge difference to the team. Might have a go on it later.

Like I said it's a good game this year and for those willing to give it a chance instead of reading Marco's somewhat strange agenda against PES, it's really worth having a go and is pretty good fun. BAL is freaking hard! but hugely addictive.
-
Now for the first few things. It's quite conceivable that there are two very good games on the market in terms of football, which one is for you depends on what you want from a video game. I'll admit I'm a PES diehard fan and have been playing the series ever since it's carnation on the PS1 so what I'm going to say will have a bias of course. What PES2011 ISN'T - Easy to pick up, Easy to master, - Instantly gratifying - Licensed and nicely polished - Lots and lots of leagues with our beloved Southampton for instance - Lots of stadiums - Good audio & commentary! But however the other game does have that in abundance and if you were to play a game for 10 minutes, most people would settle that Fifa is the better game and has the much better & realistic looking animations and the graphics this year are better. But scratch beneath the surface and what PES2011 is a game that is worth putting the time, the effort and the hard work to master, because the more you play the more you learn with each game, and sometimes the AI and football can be simply breathtaking. No two games are ever the same and the AI, especially on top player is unique and different each time and varied with the tactics. The tactical options and different ways to play the game, counter-attack, long ball, wing play, possesion play, pass and move? the world is your oyster in this regard in PES. The player individuality when it comes to different players stats and traits coming into play for me is absolutely awesome, when you pick up that ball with Messi you FEEL like you are Messi, when the likes of Scholes is passing the ball around midfield and controlling the play. The amazing last ditch tackles of Pique, the genius of Cesc Fabregas, the determination of Steven Gerrard. I could go on and on and on and on. The deep and challenging become a legend mode and Master league mode will always have more depth than the career mode in Fifa, the way I see it is, Fifa offers a great kick about, and with mates is great fun, but for the single player and online experience, the lag free master league online for me so far is absolutely awesome. Marco, you might not like PES, but your constant rantings about how it's a joke of a game etc are bordering on a bit crazy, it's like you're determined you don't want anyone to enjoy PES, to buy it or otherwise. Bringing up some negative reviews is all well and good but were those reviews in depth? did the reviewer from Orange really give PES more than a couple of hours game time? Many people who are trying to play the game on here are enjoying it, so let them! you might not like it, but that shouldn't detract from trying to constantly dig at the game constantly. For longetivity after the thrills and Fifa thrills wears off on some people, a few will give this game a go and like it. It's great for us consumers that we have the choice between these two games, and it's great they're both looking to outdo each other constantly and this can only help the final quality of the future games. Many people will enjoy Fifa more and quite rightly it's an excellent game, but PES is also worth putting the time in and then it's as enjoyable if not more so.

Alright calm down! It's just PES2011! I never realised it meant that much to you.:lol::lol::lol:

There's a patch on the WENB forums for the PS3 version. http://www.winningelevenblog.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3549&sid=2d6a8d8967633ae2cbda6722bf0ca948 Should be plain sailing from their, there's also an official patch coming out in 3 days.

The Demo tells me enough about the gameplay.
-
Are you trying to tell me that PES doesn't have individuality with the players? Which reviews say this?
-
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=268010 Lol at the comments on that thread. Things about Fifa I dislike. I don't have the retail/full version BUT. - Through balls - The direction of them is shocking even when the run is absolutely obvious and with a GREAT passer like Fabregas/Xavi/Iniesta/Alonso they tend to hardly ever go where you want. I know Pro Passing effects them, and the powered through balls are a thing of the past, but a decent slide rule through pass is non-existant in Fifa 11. - The pitch - FAR TOO SMALL! I mean it's so small the game turns into 22 men just bumping into each other constantly and the turnover of possession is beyond a joke on the game. - The overpowered tackle button. Defending has become worse in FIFA 2011, in Fifa 10 I actually liked the fact the game forced you to use the jockey button to deal with opponents, now all you have to do is press X and the ball is yours no matter nearly all the time, there's no skill to it. - The crossing - Seems far too easy to pick out your striker, unlike in FIFA 2010 where crossing was hard, now it's been toned down. I like the pace on the crosses however. - AI - It's vastly overrated, it's far too easy to score 1 - 2 goals all the time on this game, I don't enjoy doing it because it feels too easy to score from a simple one two with the defender often forgetting to even bother to attempt to mark the second runner. - Personality Pro - For me this gimmick doesn't really work that well, the player likeness just isn't there for me, with Barcelona, Xavi felt average, Iniesta WAS good, and Messi was decent, but I never felt like I was in control of a superstar.. with their special abilities. Messi's running and jinking between defenders felt useless. - Trickstick - This year the trickstick seems to be the sure fire way of beating a man. However it's slower in response on the XBOX 360, and feels like a step down from WC 2010. - Tactics AI, the game isn't deep when it comes to this and your opposition never really has a different gameplan and doesn't really attack with much menace, after playing about 20-30 games on the demo, I never let in a goal. I like the fact that the opposition tries to occasionally do tricks, but after seeing Ballack/Terry do 360 roulettes. It's again a gimmick which doesn't have any relevance on the game. It's kinda easy to play this game on auto-pilot without having to worry too much about the AI. Shooting - Most of all I do like the shooting, however the finesse shot is overpowered again and seems to be the sure fire way of scoring the same goal over and over. I like the fact you can hit a few screamers in now. This is me barely touching the surface of what I dislike about Fifa 2011. I haven't got the retail version. I'll probably get it when it's cheaper after Christmas. I do love the animations and the goalkeepers in Fifa, however for me the game doesn't represent football, it's more a lesson in frustration that the game has some great things going for it, but at the same time when I score a goal however good it is. I simply don't get any real enjoyment out of it. It still feels like football on ice in some parts, and I understand why people like it, and it deserves the acclaim it has been getting, but after playing it and TRYING my best to enjoy it. I find it good but lacking in soul and individuality and those moments where you can watch a replay over and over and be proud of the goal you've scored. However despite all this, it's good that two good football games are on the market and after I've played the hell out of PES2011 or get frustrated with it, i'll play some Fifa 2011, but I'm worried master league online will have me hooked for too long.

Reviewers have still rated PES pretty highly getting 8.5 scores with CVG and a 9 with IGN. A few have given it around 8.5 - 9 in Europe too, the reviews say Fifa is a better game. That is the reviewers opinion, football games are subjective to the joy we all get out of them. PES in it's own right still plays a cracking game of football (for me) maybe not for you. If you want to talk about Fifa do so it's a Fifa thread but if you wanna talk about PES there's a PES thread below it. It's also subjective to you only playing briefly on the demo of PES before deciding it's utter tripe, everyone knows when it comes to PES, easy to pick up hard to master and that is apparent in this years edition. The game sadly has a few bugs which are annoying (jogging sideline bug, no advantage rule, too many replays) hopefully a patch can sort those out.
-
Constantly comparing Fifa to PES? Yawn. Two different philosophies, both good games but PES plays a better game of football for me. You're obviously a Fifa fan as shown by your constant negative PES jibes, we get it Marco, no need to reiterate the same point over and over again.

Like I told you all Pardew only did 2 hours with the players a day! and that was on an 'intense' training day.
-
There's no need to point a quote over a wrongly spelt name. First of it's not even witty, secondly it's hardly even important on a forum. Given our bad start and the lack of motivation surrounding some players at the moment and the lack of pace in our team the playoffs would be a good result, I can't see automatic promotion. Atkins should be judged from his first game onwards rather than the failure of Pardew and Wilkins thus far this season. Of course with our resources we should be at the top, but money doesn't buy success all the time if the management and motivation isn't right. Hopefully this appointment will put things right.
-
Atkins is an absolute genius appointment. The football S****horpe play is exciting and direct and when they played us in the championship they obliterated us and somehow we managed to win. If he gets our players firing and playing that kind of football we'll definitely be around the play-offs. I think his enthusiasm should help us too, Pardew looked disinterested especially in pre season. Given that his training sessions only lasted 2 hours! this time round the players will be working solidly on every aspect of their game. He can get the best out of limited players and is a great motivator too. S****horpe have punched above their weight, it's time we started punching AROUND our weight with him in charge.
-
Well a lack of pace is the problem in key areas, we're becoming far too direct and teams can nullify us easily.
-
It's fun to be a Saints fan. I win money off us losing at least, this helped my accumulator.
-
From what I've GATHERED when Pardew was in charge training sessions often only lasted 2 hours, thus meaning we underperformed due to a lack of 'togetherness' compared to other teams. Cortese turned a blind eye until people expressed their concerns about the training and promptly sacked Pardew for his unprofessional approach. The display at Leyton Orient was the one that caused Cortese the most frustration. Now I have a source for most of this however I will not say who/why/what/where for obvious reasons.
-
Lol at St Marco basically trying to sell Fifa constantly on here.
-
^ You know nothing about football clearly.

Southampton 1 - 1 Leyton Orient - Post match reaction

We looked more dangerous with Chamberlain on, difference is we have to stop hoofing it from the back, it's ugly and doesn't suit us if no players can pick up on any lambert flicks. Lack of pace means we're not getting in behind teams anymore so it's easy if they mark lambert out of the game.
