  1. I think Alpine needs a touch of your objectivity mate. Brighten up Alps! One loss does not lead to relegation, conversely one win does not mean we'll walk this league. Our performances will take us to at least halfway in the league at season's end. I am confident of that.
  2. Don't feed the Troll.
  3. Conversely, I'm glad that I did read the comments. Which stopped me from viewing the clip.
  4. For pushing trolleys?
  5. Fair play to you fella, a great prank. You're not Marc Jackson in reality? Are you?
  6. It's all in the album!
  7. Well, the war was won and now we have no...err...Nazis?
  8. Sad but totally on the money.
  9. Fair play to you too Hayling Saint! It's gestures like this that fill my chest with pride and make me very proud to be a Saints fan.
  10. Just to clarify: I am well aware that Ron's position has been made all the more difficult by football related injury. My comment really was to the younger players that this too could happen to them. God forbid this being so. My comment was never intended as a criticism of 'the greatest centre forward that the world has ever seen!"
  11. Indeed, Ron's tale, and he's not alone in his experiences, is salutory to the fact that football, as a career, is fleeting. Most of us are lucky in that our chosen career, seemingly mundane at times, gets us through our working life and financially secure into our retirement. It's important that clubs impress on their young charges how important it is to have a back up and that flashy cars and whatever other trappings are for the 'now'. A little prudence can go a long way.
  12. Good on you Sir! You deserve a medal for long service!
  13. Hmmm, I thought it was the Boxing Day earlier in the thread so I checked ITN because I had a sneaking suspicion it might not have been. It was actually the 27th, although a Saturday. We played Bristol Rovers at home on the Boxing Day that year. 'Twas a bloody good day out I must say!
  14. Do the services appraise candidates for their likelihood to desert?
  15. My feelings also.
  16. God will him the fortitude currently being exhibited by my Mum.
  17. 1902 You old relic! :smt040
  18. Tell him the blonde kid from the Archers still loves his 4 goals against Villa!
  19. Can't knock Brighton. They were up for it from the off. We weren't.
  20. Also some of the fans.
  21. Sound like the Christmas time fixture in 1975.
  22. That was Oct '74. Our first season back in the old Div. 2. A whole load went up from Eastleigh. Duncan, ask Ian Mead about the little Millwall fan with the axe in the ground.
  23. We all went up by coach. Stopped at Windsor for a beer or ten. The O.B. escorted us into the town with us lot singing YNWA. Wondered why everyone was staring, turned to find Rich Coakley (R.I.P.) with his trousers held up instead of a scarf! One of many laughs that day. Chris Gillespie sorting out quite a few Mancs who he felt had got too lippy. Don't mess with Chris! Singing rude songs to some Swedish tourists, they just loved our Yellow shirts. Getting my chin split open when Dave Stewart and I encountered some Mancs in the concourse. Pernod squirting out of the split when I necked at the bottle when we got back on the coach. Barry Backshell falling off a table in the Spa. Curry at 05.30 in The Manzil. They're all coming back now!
  24. Oct. 1970 Chelsea away drew 2-2 Just turned 15. Went on a coach with my mate, his cousin and uncle. Got very drunk in a W.M.C. that we stopped off at on the way home. Started the habit of a lifetime...getting drunk that is!
  25. That may well be the case but if so? I'll still be a very happy bunny with next season to look forward to. Especially the local derby where we should get six points.
