  1. You mean to say that you'd actually volunteer for the Lobotomy? ;-)
  2. Up until this post I cannot say I have seen any 'disparaging remarks about our new owners regarding such matters'. However, what I did see was a very politely worded, constructive comment from FF and agreement from others. In our extraordinary circumstances surrounding the takeover I'd imagine that it was extremely difficult, almost impossible, to 'hit the ground running' with regard to all aspects.
  3. I was taught at a Catholic school and found the religion very contradictory even as a teenager with an enquiring mind. Let alone in later years as I realised that it was based on unquestioning devotion and obedience, as dictated in the 'Catholic cheat sheet' better known as the Catechism. Some of the beliefs have to be seen to be believed! http://pewforum.org/news/display.php?NewsID=18959 Quote "The Times of London published a handy list of some Catholic beliefs Anglican converts would have to embrace. Social conservatives who are upset by the Anglican Church's acceptance of female priests and openly gay bishops are unlikely to have trouble adopting the Catholic beliefs that only men can become priests and that, as the Catechism of the Catholic Church puts it, "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered" and "under no circumstances can they be approved." This, from a religion which actively sought to hide the perverted treatment, by Catholic clergy, of young children in their care!
  4. Bournemouth err West Ham err Saints err Skates err Damn! Spuds?
  5. The Prince Of Wales did change it's name, for a while it was called The Barge, it has since changed back to the Prince Of Wales. Many years ago, late 60's and early 70's, it is alleged that the landlady (Stella, ex landlady of The Junction, at the railway station) used to perform all sorts of tricks with a bottle during after hours drinking.
  6. Also in the humble opinion of many fans, from various clubs, up and down the country. They were nasty, spiteful and downright dirty at times. Terry Paine used to wind up Bremner all the time.
  7. God forbid that someone should have the temerity to try and teach the French to fight! Especially for their homeland.
  8. Pakistani (s)
  9. Not too sure but this may help? Adobe reader required to open download (pdf file) http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3354599.html
  10. It would be a strange world if we agreed on every subject, all of the time.
  11. I can't fail to agree with every point, so well made, here.
  12. Now I know why SRS doesn't want people 'chatting' to the OB!
  13. Arnold was the guys name. Hot Bovril drink from that little kiosk they had. The water was so cold that the brass monkeys needed brazers before getting dressed!
  14. Vectensians, Vectians or just plain Caulkheads would be the appropriate term. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Isle_of_Wight
  15. Precisely why it was closed down.
  16. We took far more to their ground back in the old second division days. Silly feckers!
  17. I'm interested as to what they can actually do. What if I, as an individual, acting totally unprompted, join and start a wind up? Surely that is nothing to do, whatsoever, with this forum, it's members or admin? Do they have Steve's home address or any other contact details?
  18. What are they going to do? Go on the rampage in Goldsmith Avenue again or whatever?
  19. The Muppet Show This forum is for banter and light hearted chat - usual forum rules do not apply here, some content will not be suitable for minors. Racist and homophobic comments or pornographic images are strictly forbidden and will result in infractions or bans. Serious question. Is the above rigidly enforced?
  20. You just know we'll get the facts from Corp!
  21. Disagreement is what drives the debate surely? But can we do it without resorting to personal insults? That should be the question because ultimately it is that practice which lowers the intellectual level. I am not without blame in doing this either!
  22. Just a line on Daren. He posted a picture of his dear Mum on Facebook last week and, from the picture and words, I'd hazard a guess that they both seem well. **EDIT** I have, until reading further on this thread, been totally unaware of any contretemps between 19C & Daren. I was also unaware of Daren's Mother being ill. You know, if (and I do sincerely mean if) 19C's comment was intended to be inflammatory then I'd think that was a damn poor show. However, I do think that 19C was, in this instance, being genuine. A year ago my Mum was diagnosed with Small Cell Cancer in her right lung. By January it had been shrunk and there was no evidence of any spread. Last week, at a regular check, they noticed it has started again. Mum is up for a CT scan this week but, more tellingly, she is complaining (exactly! whoever heard their Mum complain?) of pain in her left chest and under her left arm. I am filled with dread and fear for my Mum. Attack me all you like but, as with all of us, attack my Mum then I'll want to get up close and personal with you.
  23. Back to the crux of all the hilarity, schadenfreude, call it whatever you want. http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/football/article-1222768/EXCLUSIVE-Hope-ailing-Portsmouth-new-backers-wait-wings.html If you lot don't stop arguing I'm going to invite Rupert back!
  24. There's quite a bit more to Mr. Disney than meets the eye! Indeed, this might be of interest to, of all people, Mr. N. Griffin (MEP): http://spitfirelist.com/for-the-record/ftr-301-mickey-mauschwitz-the-reactionary-politics-of-walt-disney/
