The scanners technology is already proven at high volume locations, namely mailiine railway stations, termini and London Underground. The logic, applied to Southampton, is that those leaving will, by virtue of succesfully entering, have passed the scan. Therefore it will be the same method of exit as currently. i.e. the big red doors will be wide open. The logistics of declining a swipe card at entry are yet to be overcome and has been mentioned in another thread. On the rail application the machine retains the ticket if it cannot be used again. Our swipe cards will need to be durable with at least (possibly with cup runs) a minimum of, say, 60, swipes. But I'm digressing now! Have to agree that paying to park at a Theme Park is disgusting. The customer is a captive and will not refuse to pay as the kids will have their day ruined. How long before it's £10 to park?

I think you're right Mike. The technology for swipe cards is proven by their use in high volume situations such as most Mainline Railway stations and the London Underground. The problem will come, with our turnstile layout, if/when a swipe card is declined. There will be the problem of people queueing behind an embarassed , or even disgruntled, fan. Not that many would try it on if they think about the consequences of embarassment BUT we are talking about people in general so some may try it on!

When at Ford I called these sessions 'blamestorming' because no matter what was discussed it always ended up as the fault of the Maintenance Dept.
