How could Kamara set black managers back? Because he was useless or because he's black? The point being, with your statement, if there is no racism then he could not possibly have set back black managers, just useless ones? I appreciate you are not being racist but I hope you get my drift because if, as Turkish says it shouldn't matter, then Kamara's failure as a manager should have had absolutely no effect on other black managers. The thing is, again as pointed out, many black managers have not been that good. That was because they lacked the nous and nothing whatsoever to do with the colour of their skin. Does this point out that in football hierarchy (Managing Directors, owners etc), like society, there is an inherent and latent racist undercurrent?

The last two home games have seen us fans singing from all around the ground and, as NA says, it boosts the team. It's really enjoyable, even where I am in the chapel we are getting people singing. Let's just keep this up. Pressure on the opposition from four sides plus our lads giving their all on the pitch. If we go a goal down? Let's ratchet up the volume even louder!

We park in Radcliffe Rd and have a ten minute walk after the game finishes. We always stay to the very end. We often get caught at Mount Pleasant level crossing but we are still home within 45 minutes of the game ending. Those who leave on 85 will lose an average 7 minutes a game. Which means over a season they miss 1.75+ games. Plenty of time there for goals and controversy! I do wish fans could stay until the end.

I so wanted the lad to bag a hat trick. I felt that NA's substitutions were inspirational.

On the subject of magnificent support, did anyone see Peterborough's game last night? Bompey took a few.....well maybe a couple of hundred. Sad, for all their team has achieved over the last two seasons.

A comment which, for me, far outwieghs all the pessimism on here. We can do it, one step at a time. Patience you guys!
-
Altogether a pleasant result. Though I'd imagine that most of us are being quietly circumspect until we know exactly what is happening with our season, rather than count our chickens and appear arrogant! Not a dig @ you B.T.W.!

I went on some Anti Apartheid marches in the 80s. Trafalgar Square was always noisy, the O.B. always kept us away from S.A. House although there was no trouble because it was well marshalled by the organisers. No rent a mobs like it seems to be these days. The evenings, around Clapham Common, in the pubs and bars, were always great for a laugh with people you had met from all over the country.

It may be that the motorised valve is jammed in the heating position? I'm no C.H. expert but I'd be inclined to giving it a sharp tap with a hammer and listen to hear if you can hear it modulating back to rest. Do hold the valve/pipe assemby when you tap it so you don't cause a leak. The boiler stat only controls the boiler temperature.

Green Shield was across Queensway, on the northern corner of East St & Queensway. Brentfords was close in that part of East Street also.

So hard that it was approved?

Rumour has it Saints are in big trouble!

3-1 away and 2-0 at home, a rather comprehensive win. As to that night after the home game? Luckily there were many police on the train back to Eastleigh that night as we would have been mullered. Getting off at Eastleigh we were showered by full beer cans. I told one of the O.B. I'd never seen a Scotsman chuck away alcohol. Smell your clothes he replied. -

Having read that thread, all the way through including posts from Nicola C & Adriansfc, and read the various Brighton threads and Bompey comments I'll just add one comment, with humility. It's beginning to look like noone likes us and we don't care! -

Apologies, I read that three times before posting and it still made sense to me....Lol! I was driving to the point of financing the loan and how it may have been achieved i.e. might we have lost ownership of the stadium through SISU selling it? Culminating in my final point that we got lucky. Had to wait for my 24 hours to elapse. Sorry.
-
In my humble opinion. SISU, notably, did not purchase the Ricoh arena. Neither, from the Echo report ( http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/untoldstories/4358067.Board_discussions_on_the_SISU_takeover/ ) would they have done that here. Opting, instead, to state that they may take over the funding of the stadium debt. Daily Echo said: Who was going to fund the debt if SISU did not make payments? Would they have been looking for a third party to fund it i.e. Southampton City Council taking ownership and leasing the stadium to the club? So maybe forging ahead, after a SISU takeover, might not have been better than Coventry's experience may suggest when still having to fund that debt? Moreso, and blessed with hindsight, our travails and traumas of administration led to the fortune of Mr Liebherr stepping in. In other words? We got damn lucky!

I first took nipper to the Lazio and Palace games (2007) hoping to interest him. I gave up because he was so fidgety, up and down to the loo etc. I chatted to him for ages, to be sure of his attitude, and we bought season tickets this year. He's now 9 and those few years made all the difference. The guy behind me in the Chapel brings his daughters. All they'll know after a game is if the GK wore a pink top! The rest of the game was spent kicking the back of my seat which, after a very reasonable spell, I talked to him about. They are now well behaved.
-
And while we are thinking of the small inconvenience of a wasted train ticket or revelling in the glory it would bring to us let's conveniently forget about their fans who would lose their club. The players and employees who would find themselves out of work. Have you, and others, forgotten where we were with our club back in 2008/9?

We were sold the dream, from those now far off days of the Thatcher years where we were exhorted to achieve through buying our council house and selling at a profit. For many it was the only way to get on the home ownership ladder. Councils either didn't or were not allowed to use that money to build further affordable homes. The logic in that escapes me as we have an ever expanding population and therefore all needs, infrastructure wise, increase. Many got caught up in the live now pay later culture fuelled by the I want it now ethos. Meanwhile the financial institutions were working out more ways to sell us money. Cars, holidays, second homes. It's almost as if a need/greed was engineered and then fed by the same concerns. No government, be it Labour or Tory, stood back and said Whoa! Why? Because they all, MPs etc, had their noses in the trough directorships, consultancies, speech circuits, biographies etc. We're all in this together really rankles with me because the working man, the middle class and the unemployed are more in this together than others. 'They' are still perceived to be riding high, and roughshod, over the rest of us. So 'in this together' does not mean a lot to me.

Have Wigan been fleecing everyone they come into contact with then? If not then it's really an insult to Wigan to compare the DFCSBs with them.
-
Unrealistic statement in itself! It's called focusing the minds of the players. That's what is possible, I want us to strive for it. An admirable concept in my book.

Old father time does catch up but not just physically. He also works his way into your mind and tends to steer it onto a more even keel. A court appearance also tends to help that process. If you know that I know your Dad and Uncle then you'll probably know my real name. I'm on FB, do come and say hello. Also: I was totally unaware of who VFTT was until you quoted comments made by the judge at trial. You have since decided to delete those comments, among others on this thread. You make mention of doing something of which you are ashamed does it fit in with VFTT's experience? Were you also involved at Charlton? You may have a legitimate gripe with VFTT, I don't know, but you certainly have managed to focus attention on yourself when you are accusing him of 'bringing it all up'. If you were involved at Charlton then you really only have yourself to blame, it's nobody elses fault.
-
They gloated about that Cup win on borrowed money and didn't give a flying feck about Terry the builder, or anyone else for that matter, losing money. Now when it comes down to putting their money into their club to keep it running they've all turned moralistic. Admin & the CVA has cleared all the crooks out of the club so why not put their money where their mouth is . . . . Oh! Hang on, who's in charge now? Bestest fans in the world ? my ar55555e!
-
How do you know he hasn't? If he is not under strict surveillance, by the Police and teaching authorities, then I'd be very surprised. VFTT will be well aware of that. Many who were involved in the 70's have turned their lives around successfully, why not VFTT? Having to stand in the dock, charged with a violent act, is a sobering call. It often works wonders. I'm in the Chapel with my boy.

Fair play Dave. Unlike others, who cannot change their spots (however hard they try to hide it), you have done so and are making a worthwhile contribution.
