Totally this. I like him. I think he's brilliant with a dead ball, obviously, but take that out and he's an average PL midfielder. By average I do not mean poor, I mean that he's not any better than most. If we can get 50m+ I'd take it and move on.

Some people's world are binary

But that's the points of why your question is stupid/flawed. History has zero bearing on performance now or in the future. But that was not the prerequisite of why Villa are seen as the bigger club and it is also why I made the point that the historical performance and therefore reputation will define how big clubs are seen in general. The performance of the team last season or in the moment defines current playing status and will have an impact on the "bigness" (I realise nor a great word) of the club in future.
-
You have asked a question for which there is not an answer because comparing an historical event with what might happen in a future time period is ridiculous. Ask a better question and you might be able to demand an answer.
-
You are again confusing or mixing up team with club. As I defined Club wise they are bigger. Team wise they are also better based on last season. For the 10 odd years before we had the better team. You need to read everything people write and not just the bits that suit your viewpoint.
-
You've answered you're own question. You need to accept that you are wrong sometimes and not go down dead ends. Their trophies hauls make them a bigger club historically. No debate. Fact. And you apparently love fact.
-
You're confusing club and team as the same thing. Villa are historically and in one or teo aspects currently a bigger club than us. The team finished higher than us last season so are currently better. Bigger is not really the correct term to refer to the team bit is for the club. Since they were relegated from the PL we have been the better team.

Ok. Was only going by rumours seen. But you get my point I suspect. We can sell JWP high because of experience, length of contract and England experience, and replace with a couple of decent prospects.
-
What if....we sell JWP for 50m+ and sign Smith-Rowe and Wilcock for the money? I'd say that justifies the sale. I like JWP but I am thinking for 50-60m it's best for the team.

Ralph would probably still pick Redmond ahead of Messi.
-
I'd actually find that really satisfying to do🤣🤣🤣
-
I sense a bit of synicism 🤣🤣
-
Will he be in a year? I suspect so. And if so, worth doing and getting rid of Bednarek or Stephens. Salisu and Vestergaard if he stays should be our starting pair.
-
I didn't say we would. Fact.
-
Well, not really what I meant but yeah. A strong bench is key for tws like us.

I think people need to stop referring to some players as "back-ups". We need 2 players who are fairly close in ability to each other in each position so that we have legitimate competition and csn maintain and push quality, standards and consistency levels. IF we bought Perroud for 10m and Neco Williams for 10m that would be great. Williams would provide great competition on both sides.
-
Value is not solely determined by ability but by length of contract and cost to replace. For these reasons I place his sale value at 50m MINIMUM. I'd sell at this and get two players at 25m each who are nearer their contract expiration. Selling JWP for less than 40m makes little sense, less than 30m pointless.

I like the idea of Christie. Already knows Armstrong and Adams obviously but in his own right is lively and can create. Would be dirt cheap too.
-
Maybe but not convinced we will see much more.
-
Good riddance. Lemina, Forster, McCarthy, Long, Redmond and Djeneppo to go😂😂😂

It's called pessimism.

I've noticed papers will guess at prices and favour the clubs they feel.provides more readership for them, either way in the equation. So in that example it makes it look good for Spurs. Also the selling club will never advertise or hint at their real selling price, its all about negotiation. The Venkys (if true) are just playing the game correctly, put a price out there which isn't going to kill the interest whilst also knowing their acceptable price. Actual prices are rarely what the papers say up front.

When he first played I thought he looked exciting. I camt remember if that was with Romeu or not but certainly since Romeu has been out and he played more often he has certainly looked less exciting. Like you say a fair few loose passes but it also looked to me like he was trying to hard to implement whatever instructions RH gave him and as a consequence was less free. He clearly has some skill and I think he will be better as a box to box type rather than a sitter. If he plays a bit further up the pitch we might see more of his talent.

Made me laugh!!
