I believe the manager and the board as well as the players have ambition. The owner clearly doesn't. Therfore we have no money over and above what the business makes to achieve that ambition more easily.
  3. So what part of less than 40 senior goals in around 330 appearances makes Ralph think he is a striker??? Jeez....if that's the case we truly are in a mess. His poor scoring record is the main reason I would be happy to see him move on.
  4. Specifically mentioned as not playing https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19434456.blackburn-rovers-open-pre-season-afc-fylde-victory/
  5. I'd of thought we could get 15-20m for Vestergaard and I'd be happy to see us move on. No idea who to get instead but sure we can find someone!!
  6. Thanks. Probably reduced now but still too close!!
  7. Link? Thought it was 80-90m
  8. Not forgetting the £111m from Premier League...

Clearly he is not at Ings level. Saying nowhere near though is a bit much. The truth is no one knows yet because he has not played in the PL yet. A better question maybe is he better than Ings was at the same age? Armstrong and Adams as our front line is not automatically going to make most fans confident of survival. Add Ongs in and great. Remove him and I agree with @SKDthat we probably need another striker but not necessarily the real high quality he suggests but I'd welcome one. We won't get the quality he hopes for though because I suspect the standard is in tbe wage category out of our reach, even if we chose to spend 30-40m. We will buy 4 or 5 more players who are in the 10-20m (mostly lower half of that range) this summer. It doesn't mean we will go down but I do not think we will scale the height of top 6 like we did last season for a bit. I look forward to seeing how good Armstrong is...🤞🤞🤞
  10. You've mentioned Danjuma a couple of times. Has there been a link I've missed or is this player just on your wishlist? I'd be nervous if we did not sign a first choice CB IF we sell Vestergaard. I think Salisu will become the norm on the left side. Bednarek need sto up his game I feel and Stephens worries me everything he's on the pitch (although to be fair he looked "safer" at LB!!). I'd love a new GK. Armstrong seems like a positive purchase. Selling Ings, JWP, Vestergaard and one or two others (Redmond ideally) should generate upwards of 80-90m. This plus any other funds should allow a decent mini rebuild.

First time I've seen any reference to any specific contract length and wages. Annoying if he does go. But if so, get rid and re invest.
  12. Totally this. I like him. I think he's brilliant with a dead ball, obviously, but take that out and he's an average PL midfielder. By average I do not mean poor, I mean that he's not any better than most. If we can get 50m+ I'd take it and move on.
  13. Some people's world are binary
  14. But that's the points of why your question is stupid/flawed. History has zero bearing on performance now or in the future. But that was not the prerequisite of why Villa are seen as the bigger club and it is also why I made the point that the historical performance and therefore reputation will define how big clubs are seen in general. The performance of the team last season or in the moment defines current playing status and will have an impact on the "bigness" (I realise nor a great word) of the club in future.
  15. You have asked a question for which there is not an answer because comparing an historical event with what might happen in a future time period is ridiculous. Ask a better question and you might be able to demand an answer.
  16. You are again confusing or mixing up team with club. As I defined Club wise they are bigger. Team wise they are also better based on last season. For the 10 odd years before we had the better team. You need to read everything people write and not just the bits that suit your viewpoint.
  17. You've answered you're own question. You need to accept that you are wrong sometimes and not go down dead ends. Their trophies hauls make them a bigger club historically. No debate. Fact. And you apparently love fact.
  18. You're confusing club and team as the same thing. Villa are historically and in one or teo aspects currently a bigger club than us. The team finished higher than us last season so are currently better. Bigger is not really the correct term to refer to the team bit is for the club. Since they were relegated from the PL we have been the better team.
  19. Ok. Was only going by rumours seen. But you get my point I suspect. We can sell JWP high because of experience, length of contract and England experience, and replace with a couple of decent prospects.
  20. What if....we sell JWP for 50m+ and sign Smith-Rowe and Wilcock for the money? I'd say that justifies the sale. I like JWP but I am thinking for 50-60m it's best for the team.
  21. Ralph would probably still pick Redmond ahead of Messi.
  22. I'd actually find that really satisfying to do🤣🤣🤣
  23. I sense a bit of synicism 🤣🤣
