win ratios mean **** all. As long as we lose fewer than other teams over the course of the rest of the season, I believe we'll go up. Leeds came second last season with 86, a higher points total than will be required this year IMO, winning 25, drawing 11 and losing 10. So far we have won 1, drawn 1, lost 4. Admittedly it will take a big effort not to lose more than 6 more, but everyone at the club knows this. It is not out of the question. Let's not be negative, let's cheer the boys on to those 24 wins!

I've never understood this anti SKD thing that goes on. The guy has kept us in games on so many occasions, easily the best GK in the league, and few better in the NPC imo. Even this season he has made at least 5 quality saves. That is why my vote is for him, followed by Lallana, followed by Fonte

Just to have a change from the negativity currently swamping this fine forum, I thought it best pose a positive question to you all. So, who, in your opinion, is the best player currently on our books? Granted everyone of them is total gash at the moment, but when on form who do you take pleasure in watching play football? Does Kelvin keep you cheering? Do your waters flow for Fonte? Do you get a hard on for Harding? Do you squirt white stuff everywhere when you see Spiderman? Viva Lallana? Is Lambo your Rambo? Barny for Barny? Pulis

It is utter madness to write off our chances in mid-september! I'm sorry, there is realistic negativity but this pure insanity. We need to get behind the team not assume they have no chance or even boycott games. I will stick my neck out and say that we will still finish in the top two come May - which is 8 months, 40 games and 120 points away by the way. This is not 'denial', it is more realism than some people are showing

There were a rumours a few months back of a youngster who the clubs were trying to keep under wraps, I believe comparisons were made to Thierry Henry. Those of you who read my post about James Ward-Prowse would also know that he has been scouted by a few big name clubs, Arsenal and Liverpool being two.

I'm still trying to be positive, despite feeling completely deflated, so: 1) we have more points than at this stage last year 2) the squad is thin, but we are able to strengthen now that the loan window is open 3) We have a new manager, and a new start, and it's not too late to kick start a promotion push 4) Barnard is back at the weekend Anyone else, feel free to contribute...

Fair points on the whole, we clearly just differ on our rating of NA. I reckon he's the perfect bloke to come in and steady the ship, the players are there but they need a calm, firm hand to lead the way, all IMHO of course

Indeed he is our best player (not playing well atm obviously) and Barnard has been the form player all season

I really hope Adkins doesn't read this forum before he arrives! FFS how can you judge someone before he's done anything? O'Neill used to manage Wycombe, Ferguson was at East Sterlingshire and St. Mirren, everyone has to start somewhere We were told that the appointment would 'show the fans that Cortese knows what he is doing', which bizarrely turned into 'the new manager will have a WOW factor'. Well it would have been very easy for NC to throw money at MON or KK. But what he's actually done is look to appoint a young, talented, clever, honourable manager who crucially has experience of getting out of this league. This tells me that he knows what he is doing. I am very excited about the good football we will play, and the chance to watch Adkins grow into someone with the pedigree of MoN, KK, Sir Alex, Wenger etc etc. I think we should welcome him with open arms and get right behind him from the off
