  1. Three points. 1. The 97p shop was clearly not classy enough for the Gillingham people. Thank goodness for the thriving 99p shop. 2. We weren't very good, but we didn't play our first string team, so a poor result was to be expected. 3. Why do some people apparently only attend games to slag off individual players? The bloke in front of me only opened his mouth to slag off Lloyd James. Aside from that, I didn't hear a peep out of him.
  2. "She's just some bigoted woman"
  3. If you miss this detail, I won't be using your site.
  4. As nobody else has answered, here are the ones I can remember: Wimbledon - fezes for Kachloul Derby - baldy wigs for Chris Marsden Aston Villa (or was it West Ham?) - police hats for Jo Tessem Aston Villa - tam-o-shanters for Gordon Strachan
  5. Nancy boy. You're missing the point. They're a bunch of ****s. We are awesome. Maybe as many as travelled to some of their games this season. You're probably talking at least a few hundred.
  6. In what way has the Lib Dem election campaign been more like X-factor than other parties?
  7. That's the last time I wait this late to book tickets for an away game so far away. £110. Pah. Real ale, anybody?

    Sport politics

Until I read that, I had so much respect for his opinion.
  9. Kaboom! With a turn of phrase like that, you could get a job working for the tabloid press. "We have always been at war with Eastasia."
  10. Can somebody re-post the one with Ann Widdecombe tossing off a dog, please?
  11. It may well be the case that they live locally now, but the real test is whether they were from the area or living there before they were selected to fight the seat. Only then can you find out whether the person is a professional politician or a concerned local.
  12. Massive Wayne Thomas faces.
  13. The truth being: He wants to give a tax cut to everyone society, bringing an increase in the living standards of millions of the poorest people around. He wants to abandon ID cards. He wants to stop the country spending £100bn on Trident renewal. Let's not forget that nearly everybody in the world agrees it would be immoral to use these weapons, so why would we possibly want to spend so much on them? He wants to put 3,000 more police on the streets. His manifesto includes details on how he would pay for his spending pledges. What a villain this man is. He's clearly a bad egg.
  14. I'm merely stimulating debate. Many people think that to question the actions of the armed forces and those who serve in them is unacceptable, I disagree. Is it not the case that those serving are asked to follow orders, without question, by those positioned above them in the strict hierarchy? Perhaps the choice of the phrase 'drone' was unfortunate and I apologise for any offence that has caused. However, sometimes it is easier to use extremes to prove a point and I'm sure most people on here have been guilty of it at some point. I'm sure that the point about following orders is true in most jobs, to some extent. But to an outsider, it seems that in the services the consequences for both following them and disobeying them are far graver. This is not the case. A close friend of mine serves in the marines. He recently returned from Iraq, his first tour. I regard him as highly as I do the rest of my friends. I don't remember having 'pops'. I remember asking questions of the likes of you and Stu, when you make postings about the services. Your answers have usually been pretty good, and informative. The one about the scale of the navy's role in protecting trade was particularly illuminating. None.
  15. Indeed. I wish for his sake that he knew how to be a drone who blindly follows orders.
  16. Stu, Thanks for your swift response, which cleared up some of my misconceptions about 'parade'. It is clear that missing parade, and therefore being late for work, warrants a punishment of four days in jail. I only wish this was the case universally. I have no sympathy for this lady and agree with the statement that the army is 'unsuitable for a single mother who couldn't sort out her childcare arrangements'. Wilko
  17. Apparently these parades are really important...... Army - meh
  18. This has nothing to do with employment laws and everything to do with compensation culture. In reality, employees have very few rights in the UK and the balance of power is well and truly on the side of the employer.

  21. Great chant, needs some bright spark to come up with words for the verse as well.

We have eight points to make up in six games. On paper it looks possible, but in reality those kind of deficits don't get overturned. Feel free to provide some examples, though. It might cheer me up.

I reckon that's a pretty good attendance for a third tier game that was effectively a dead rubber.
  24. Another great turnout. How many have they sold for Wembley?
  25. Please explain how one of the city's big sports names being arrested for possession of drugs is a 'non-story'.
