They could have made him aware of the planned stunt/protest and because they considered there no concern of physical harm they would allow it to proceed so it was up to him if he attended or not. I don’t think he’s said they advised him not to attend, just that they provided information that led to that decision.

Think it’s likely that he hasn’t lied. All of the statements you replied to would be true if police were aware of someone like Simon Brodkin planning something similar to what he did with Sepp Blatter. The ‘credible threat’ isn’t necessarily of physical violence even if the wording was used to imply that.

What’s the overall cost of your trip been like? My limited understanding is it’s been a poor part of the country and tourism only seems to have picked up recently so wondering if there’s still good value to be had.
