I just typed this response out then thought fuck it, why try and take the emotion out of it… we need to win today and the pressure we’re putting on the rest will pay and we’ll go up automatically. Win each game and that pressure build so Downes should have been risked. ‘Think if there’s a risk that playing him now that the knock gets aggravated and puts him out for the season, it’s the right call. We need to win all our games including two away against teams ahead of us and even then that might not be enough for automatic. Probability is we’re in the play offs and we’ll stand a much better chance of we have Downes in the team going into it.’

Seems like you’re very much in favour of it not being acceptable for actors to portray people of a different race in some circumstances and able to draw your own line whilst also arguing that it shouldn’t be an issue at all or we’d end up needing to debate where the line is drawn…

I’m not certain a black lower league ex goalkeeper turned physio or black translator would have been given the same opportunity as Nigel Adkins or Jose Mourinho no matter how good a game they talked in terms of their first management role. There will be plenty of examples of good black, good white, shit black and shit white managers. Ultimately there’s no significant disadvantage to white managers who have plenty of opportunities and support. If they’re better than their black counterparts they will still rise to the top no matter how many initiatives and schemes are in place.
