    Stamp Duty

Having done it in the last couple of years, without any financial support, having to pay rent and earning below the UK average, I can assure you it’s not. I‘ve got family and friends who have done the same more recently than I have, again without receiving any support. I’m not saying it is possible for everyone (it never has or will be) but it’s nowhere near as difficult as being made out and a lot of those complaining would be able to afford to save for a deposit if they gave up a few luxuries.

It’s a load of bollocks that young people can’t afford to buy a house. Making a choice to prioritise other spending and not be willing to go without certain luxuries is the main reason but some people will claim it’s ‘impossible’ to get on the housing ladder despite there being plenty of examples proving it can be achieved.
  3. Would have been the perfect opportunity to try and stop players going down easily but instead the refs are effectively encouraging it and making their job harder. Said it before but don’t see why the Premier League that wants the best players in the world doesn’t go and get the best refs from other countries as well.
  4. Fair point, agree with that in a lot of cases but the main idea of them not being far left nutters still stands and as you’ve said, not a reason to boo as no malice behind their reasoning.
  5. Bit weird to boo it though when clearly the players aren’t far left nutters but doing it to promote equality. Personally I think it’s pointless virtue signalling that since the first couple of weeks where it got people talking about the issue, hasn’t achieved anything and the time has probably passed to build momentum to make any real change. I’m not going to boo it though because the intention clearly isn’t to promote a far left ideology but (no matter how poorly) to draw attention to a racist culture that still exists in our society. Back to the main topic of the thread... Macca, Salisu, Tella and Djenepo to start and a 2-1 win.
  6. Couldn’t care who it is. A club needing a win, sending everyone up for a last minute corner that results in the keeper scoring the winner will alway be brilliant!
  7. Came through the Liverpool academy by the looks of it but struggled with injury until leaving in 2017. Expect he saw a lot of Mr Ings in the treatment room.
  8. Good to have a safe pair of hands running the country. Expect a reshuffle to see Maldini brought in as Defence Secretary.
  9. Already looking at the weather forecast. Heavy rain on Saturday but might be too late by then.
  10. Would never work in football. Play off finals, cup finals, win or you’re relegated relegation battles would just see players taking the hit of a ban for next season if it means they’re going to win the game that matters.
  11. Gary Neville (man of the people) owned Salford in 87th 🤔
  12. Interesting that Martin Tyler called Armstrong ‘a real Scot’ after previously mentioning Che Adams’ Scotland appearances. Expect it to be ignored (and probably rightly given no malice was meant), however, given the social media blackout and attention Sky have given to taking the knee, would a similar comment have been acceptable if made against someone like John Barnes not being a proper Englishman?
  13. Any player playing in the league should not eligible for their national teams. Refuse to sell, buy or loan players to/from them. You’ll get players leaving on frees for a big pay day but may make some think twice knowing they’ll have very limited options of a new club if it doesn’t work out.
  14. Anybody know what kit we’re playing in tomorrow?
  15. Don’t think it can be described as a rivalry. Me and my Portsmouth supporting brother have matching ‘Harry Redknapp, King of the South’ tattoos. Surprised nobody has mentioned our joint rivalry with England which started because the great man was continually overlooked for the top job.

    Jhon Viafara

We all know what the American police are like. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was just out on his boat and they planted the drugs on him.
  17. Is the modern day ‘precaution’ something that wouldn’t have been questioned 10 years ago and players would have just played on. Feel like Prowsey is quite happy to get on with it where some players are told by the people around them not to risk it unless they are 100%. Guess he wasn’t in the starting line up tonight so the decision was made for him but fully expect him to start against Burnley.

    Danny Ings

Not sure there’s many/any teams who will be able to meet Chelsea’s transfer demands to recoup their money whilst giving Werner the wages he wants. Don’t think he will end up at Saints but not completely inconceivable that he’ll be their Hoedt/Elyounoussi/Carillo and they’ll end up loaning him out whilst subsidising a decent percentage of his wage. Expect it’ll be at a club that’ll be able to pay £150kp/w+ of the wage (West Ham, Dortmund, Athletico etc.).
  19. Deliberately not signing them and letting them flourish in a more established and competent academy environment?
  20. Not sure it’s that ridiculous. If he’s looking for a move away because we weren’t giving him opportunities, what better way to get his name out there than being the catalyst for a team not being able to cope without you and losing 9-0.
  21. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11685/12257237/jarrod-bowen-tweet-fa-aware-as-west-ham-winger-apologises-for-using-unacceptable-racist-term-in-2012-post Main body of the tweet: any worse than the term ‘coconut’? The hashtag: Used with no malice and not in a worse context than most rappers, comedians or...(deleted for fear of lawsuit) have probably used the word without recourse. Weird that a footballer using the word is automatically unacceptable no matter the intention. Personally, I despise the word and would prefer it was deemed unacceptable worldwide, however, if we want equality, it’s difficult if rules apply to some but not others.
  22. My post wasn’t really based in on tonight but how I think we’d balance the team against those types of teams. We really need 2 midfielders with defensive qualities but 1 of those will need to offer us something going forward. JWP is the best that I can see for that job.
  23. Think Prowsey is unique in this England squad. We’ve got some good defensive centre mids and some good attacking centre mids but no player that really offers the best of both. The team with 2 of Rice, Dier, Henderson or Phillips looks too defensive whereas only one of those normally leaves us looking exposed. JWP for me gives a bit of balance that’s needed and for me (totally biased) should always start.
  24. Wouldn’t change the law for offsides. Make the lines drawn by VAR the equivalent of say 30cm in width and if there’s any overlap, then it’s onside to take into account the margin for error. Quick free kicks should always be allowed unless an injured player needs treatment (they’d then leave the pitch for the free kick to hopefully stop the defending team from faking injury). The advantage needs to be with the team who had the foul committed against them.
