I have contacted the club about parking on Boxing Day as there is likely to be an increase in people using cars. The club is not considering increasing the stewarded parking places as they feel there is an adequate amount already (apparently there is plenty of space at home matches). Stewarded parking places can be booked in advance from the ticket office.

He has said he will look on the site every day this week and is happy to answer questions from our members. Please do not miss this fantastic opportunity!! http://www.ohwhenthesaints.net/the-good-or-bad-old-days-f1/it-s-jimmy-melia-week-1st-to-7th-november-t1521.htm Mike

Speaking as someone who has been involved in authoring, illustration and publication of historical papers and topics etc over the years, I would have thought that if you liberally illustrated many of the anecdotes posted herein, plus the addition of a few simple maps to identify locations, then you would stand a good chance of publishing this thread with someone like The History Press. http://www.thehistorypress.co.uk There is a wealth of entertaining personal memorabilia in this thread that would not normally appear in a standard 'History of Southampton' type book. Anecdotal titles are very popular at the moment. I feel at least this collation should be a candidate for a 'Golden Thread' place, to preserve it and add to it as we remember more, or others new to the site find it.

Upper Lowham? This joke used to go down a storm in the Meon Valley area back in the 70's and us locals would never tire of hearing it. I feel qualified to make this most excellent 'play on words' style joke as - a) I used to live in Droxford and am therefore local. b) I like sausages and pubs.

Well, you see, this is what happens when we recycle old threads, it leads to mass or in your case, singular, confusion.

I think you can apply that to just about any team sport, which is what, IMO, makes them so enjoyable. Take, for instance, England winning the Ashes. We did it with the cricket equivalent of 'breakaway goals' althought the stats would suggest that the Aussies were all over us. In team sports you can be crap but you still might win any given game.

I'm led to believe there's a little known website which carries this kind of obscure information http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~1804723,00.html

I have just rung the club and been told that any unclaimed tickets will travel up on the bus. However, no assurances could be given as to what time the bus would arrive and knowing Bristol traffic like we locals do, there is a possibility that there will be a lot of people trying to get their tickets from the Memorial Stadium ticket office, possibly close to kick off time. With this in mind, I am going to take a day off tomorrow and go to SMS and pick mine up. It's called 'peace of mind'.
