  1. I was doing some research on this season and saw some very interesting information if you are a Huddersfield fan Look at Hudders first half performance http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/fsthalf.html then compare it to their second half performance http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/sndhalf.html Well it makes amazing reading....especially for us Saints fans.. we have got 93 points in the second half compared 67 points in the first half....udders alternatively have 85 points in the first half and only 61 points in the second half. Conclusion - Saints are obviouisly a very fit team and keep going until the end...Udders off the back of that data can't be as fit and let themsleves down in the second half of games. Im sure the other play off teams will be looking at this data and thinking, if we can stop in the first half we have a chance Thoughts????
  2. I am licensed football agent but non practicing at the moment. I have no direct links to Saints set up but have been involved with scouting before. Looking what is on the market, there is certainly a lot of talent avaialble on a free. It all depends on what our wage strucure is and what the long term vision of the club is. There is an opportunity for Saints to make a significant splash and impact on the league as i think Saints are perceived as a big club and moving in the right direction. As i have stated before, i think Danns is a cracking player and i know he is constantly being talked about and was linked under Pardew but he is being watched by a lot of clubs in the division. Elswhere Darren Pratley would be a real statement of intent in the centre where we definitely need one new addition. It is clear Stephens is just a stop gap and i very much doubt that he would be given a permanent deal in light of the quality players which we can now attract to the club. On wings where we need cover, Diomansy Kamara or Wade Elliott would be a good shout. I think Elliott would represent better value and a lower wage. In terms of strikers, i am also beating the drum for CMS as he has scored goals in the Championship before and has absolutely torn League 1 apart with his pace, power and work rate...a perfect foil for Lambert IMO. Those who are keen to dig deeper should see that he doesn't even take penalties and that he has scored 27 goals from open play in the league compared to Lambert's 21 with 8 penalties. Another player who i think is relaistic is James Vaughan of Everton, young 22 years old, pacy and would be a good foil for Lambo. Definitely prepared to drop to the champ to play regular football. In terms of who is out of contract in Italy, as per someone's request. I take it is this down to Cortese's links and i could see him pulling another rabbit out of the hat, like the DoPrado deal.....certainly wouldn't mind Stephen Appiah or David Suazo.... http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/spieler/vertragsende/basics_IT1.html C
  3. First off...great list Glasgow and just goes to show that we do not need to spend much money to get in the quality we need From the List i would take the following Wade Elliot - could see this happening Jay Bothroyd - Likely to go to prem team Aron Gunnarsson Neil Danns Billy Jones Danny ****tu - fitness permitting Darren Pratley - likely to go to prem but definitely worth trying Then throw in CMS - £1.5 mill approx Nathanial Clyne - £1.5 mill
  4. Definitely not good enough for us im afraid. If we were still in league 1 next season then i would be happy but not in the Championship. CMS is the guy for us IMO, he tore us apart a few months ago, is top goalscorer, works amazingly hard and was voted best player in the league. It's no coincidence that Hull and Norwich were trying to sign him. Lucky for us the canaries got promoted so i doubt they are interested now, he would be amazing up top with Lambert
  5. Not sure about that Lard. I spoke to a mate who used to play semi pro and went to school with Wade. Apparantly he is very keen on joining Saints as he is a massive saints fan and obviously from the area. Howard and Stock are desperate to join as well and both nearly did. Taking stock and Elliot would be nice
  6. I think Hudders run really inspired us and brought the best of our team. The udders deserve a lot of credit and any other year it would of been enough. Its gonna be tough to get up for the play offs but they will get to the final against Posh, its set to be a cracker...just so glad its not us in the play offs, my nerves couldn't take it. Good Luck Huddersfield
  7. Sean StLedger Neil Danns or Marvin Elliot Dale Jennings Wade Elliot or George Boyd CMS or James Vaughan Im pretty sure with about 5 quality signings like above we would be in the promotion mix
  8. I agree with this sentiment, Jaidi and Connolly are too old and Connolly is injury prone. Yes he has made an impact in the last few games but we already have Lambert, Barnard and DoPrado who will stay and i think we need to be targeting a younger speedier striker. I think everyone wants CMS and he would be a dream, James Vaughan from Everton is avaialble on a free and he would also be good
  9. Seems the experts have more faith than some of you http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-one/promotion Losers...
  10. Wow im amazed how negative some of you are on here. Talk of play offs and predicting losing at Brentford. Unbeleivable...we are in 2nd place, with a game in hand and Huddersfield have got MK dons away next. Some of you lot should be ashamed....where is the faith???? terrible support
  11. Come on guys, you would not throw Martin straight in at a level above when he hasn't even be a regular. It is clear that we would need to address this position and Martin would be an option on the bench, he is still young. I think StLedger would be a good option, although i would like a Jaidi mould so maybe someone like ****tu or Morgan of Forest if he would come. I think a centre half, quality centre mid and striker are vital positions if we get up. CMS would be a great buy and wouldn't mind taking Boyd off their hands as well if Peterboro don't go up
  12. Obviously players who came through our youth set up and we never played in the first team always crop up in my head Mathew Mills - good centre half at Reading, cost them £3mill Mike Williamson - Newcastle paid about £3mill for him and he is a prem player Brian Howard - good champ player, always gone for good money
  13. I don’t think we need too many wholesale changes to be honest. I think keeper position is relatively safe. I haven’t been a massive fan of Davies but he has played pretty well lately (cue disaster tonight) and Bialkowski is a good replacement. In terms of defence, it is obvious Jaidi will be too old for the Championship and his contract is up. This is a position where we need to spend decent money to address. I think someone in the Jaidi mould would be good, maybe Danny Dhittu or Magid Bougherra maybe. Seabourne is definitely not good enough for the step up and should be cut loose in my opinion. Fullbacks don’t seem much of an issue, left back is interesting as Harding’s contract is up. If im being harsh I think he would be an average Championship player at best and could be easily replaced with someone with a bit of pace and then have Dickson as reserve. Midfield is pretty strong but definitely lacking a quality centre midfielder, maybe Stock will finally make the protracted move to SMS. Whispers of Wade Elliott wanting to come back and Howard are also rife and may give us cover on the wings. Up top, we need a pacey front man, I think we are all in agreement that man should CMS, IF we can get him as he has stated he wants to leave. I would like to see some cover for Lambert too and young Sam Vokes on loan would be great, especially as he is a massive saints fan and would jump at the move. Don’t discount Beattie either as he already made noices about wanting to come home. Areas of need Centre Back Centre Midfield Wing Cover Centre forward – Speed striker and Lambert target man cover Suggestions Centre Back - Danny ****tu/ Magid Bougherra / Sean St Ledger Centre Midfield – Brian Stock/ Neil Danns Left Back – Joe Mattock Right back – Nathanial Clyne (not a need but very good player and better than what we have) Wings – George Boyd/ Kieron Cadogan/ Wilfried Zaha/ Dale Jennings Centre Forward – Sam Vokes/ James Beattie/ Craig Mickail Smith/ Francois Zoko
  14. Guys - i just hope we are not having a copy of the sunderland kit as they are also sponsored by Umbro, it's hideous and just been revealed. BTW - does anyone know how long our deal with Umbro lasts?? we have been in Umbro kits for 3 years now, was it a 4 year deal? With Cortese as chairman i wouldn't be surprised if we got a continetal kit sponsor when our deal with Umbro expires
  15. thats a pretty poor loan if true....you can't tell me we cant get some good kids from prem teams, especially ones who are safe. Frimpong from Arsenal would be of been great...
  16. Wigan have joined the chase for Carlisle's Ivory Coast striker Francois Zoko, who has a £100,000 buy-out clause and is being watched by a number of Championship and Spanish clubs. This comes from BBC rumours, why can't we be in for a player like this??
  17. You lot need to quit it about Gosney...who is he?? now is the not the time for some non league player gamble.. A strong championship or prem loan is needed to make a statement and push us over the line. I remember when Leeds were faltering last year and McSheffrey did that for them
  18. Frimpong would be perfect...a young Viera type in the making and you would of thought that Arsenal must be trying to butter us up for Chameberlain so should be offering us a loan
  19. There is no way we should be leavfing it to the kids at this crucial time in the season. Quite simply, if we fail to get promotion, we lose Fonte, Lallana, Lambert and Chamberlain and have to start again. Frimpong from Arsenal would be a fantastic loan, would hope he would choose us over posh and Charlton. Howard would be great, not sure Reading would let him go though
  20. Very poor result...no hiding from it im afraid. That is the kind of result that gets managers sacked. We are still not clicking and i think were far too conservative in the tranfer market. Since Fonte signed in Jan 2010 we have done nothing of note in the market. Chappers was a decent buy for 50 k and Guly was probably not that cheap but we really needed a quality striker to partner Lambert. Imagine where we would be with CMS, he ripped us to shreds. As usual we are not using the loan market, pretty dissapointed. Its not over yet but Adkins needs to start earnng his corn. Think about Norwich last year, cant remember them losing a fixture like this, Hartlepool was dropped points too. Colchester is a very tough away game and another must win, a win there might just eradicate this loss but its gonna be tough
  21. I definitely still think we may need a livewire striker on loan....i just feel that could make all the difference. Dissapointed to see us not go for someone like Nathan Eccleston who went to Charlton....just hope we can pull a rabbit out of the hat as Doble is not ready and Connolly is never fit
  22. Bart deserves a run. Kelvin is very inconsistent, can be brilliant, can be poor. Either way Bart has waited in the wings long enough and deserves 5 games to show what he can do
  23. Beattie off to Blackpool......for the best, we need a speedy striker anyway
  24. Incorrect, they cant on sunday FACT
  25. Well if we are not even in discussion mode now with only 4 business trading days left, i can't imagine he is a target. That would be leaving it too late. I remember Adkins saying we had tabled some major bids, all must of been turned down as this was a month ago but surely we are still having discussions about players now
