Caulker isn't as bad as many on here make out. Yes, he did have a couple of s**t performances for us, that happens sometimes. Makes sense them signing him, same reason it was sensible for us to sign him - Premier League experience, and short-term availability. Not many CBs tick those boxes really.

Guess, theoretically, same reason we went for him? Not many CBs available as short term cover, that have a reasonable amount of Premier League experience.

You said that the only way to ascertain if an U21 is good enough for the first team is to play them in the first team. That is clearly wrong, proven by the fact that no club plays every single U21 in their first team to see if they're good enough. It doesn't happen anywhere. For obvious reasons.

Why does not one single professional football club do that then?

Pelle scores about 1 in 3. All strikers are going to be inconsistent, unless you get one at top international level.

That doesn't make sense. Unless you give every single U21 player a sustained run in the team, which not one single club does.
