  1. Two sides to every story with a "Red Top" sensationlising the best of both world from a media point of view!
  2. Perhaps Dune tendered for the job but failed the "Fit and Proper Persons Test !
  3. I was at the Mayflower last night... Stelling opened up the proceedings with this question using the word "free-loader" which misquoted Cortese of course but sounds a bit more "edgy" and of course "Sun-Like in its nature"... In all fairness to Matt he batted it away with dignity and moved it on, as indeed the audience wanted it moved on too... And that was that! Its an ongoing tiff which I would hope both sides can address between them soon, but it should not detract from the value that Matty's past and Nicola's present bring to the club. BTW - Merson is an absolute shambles !
  4. Concur with that whole-heartedly - Brilliant place In my rugby playing days, we toured there ( 20 odd years ago now) - Stayed at a hotel on the Prerdmarkt if my memory serves me correctly - About 10 minutes walk from the Kleine Freiheit/Reeperbahn. Recall an underground car park frequented by "ladies of the night" - Just take a walk around there if its still around - You don't have to buy but can get plenty of attention for free until they realise you are not interested, move on to the next "punter" and another tries in their place. Great fun at the time for a youngster!
  5. Quickly quashed when Chorley and Um Pahars outed him - Barry the Briefcase was the icing on the cake there! How many on here now would care to admit that they thought HelpmeRhonda was a girl and would drink chilled Remy with her under the Toomers!!
  6. Absolutely no point. He is not better than any of what we have now
  7. I think the "Saints Go Wilde" disease affected a great many posters on here ( and on previous forums) me included.... Thought it was all a new beginning but little did I think it would be a beginning downwards!! Also that Idiakez would boss the midfield and drive us to the promised land !
  8. Quite happy to get excited about this rumour - Has some serious potential this lad and seems to fit with our strategy of "buying them young and developing them"!
  9. I would chuck him into our starting line-up any day !
  10. Pedant alert ! He scored the equa;ising goal for Luton against the Arse in the 1988 League Cup Final - Same time as Mary's Payer was in the UK Top 10
  11. Disagree with you on this one - I think Madejski has served Reading very well over a number of years.
  12. History is littered with idiot chairmen - I remember Brian Clough being asked for his opinion on football hooligans to which he replied " Well there are 92 club chairmen for a start" ! Those clowns at Brighton ( Bellotti ?) who closed the Goldstone Ground and made "their club" homeless for years.. The idiot at Darlington, The Icelandic biscuitbakers at West Ham all stick in the memory but to the above list Ithink I would add Carson Yeung currently.
  13. Brilliant performance - Never thought I would see us win a long distance race again on a world stage. Sports Personality of the year is nailed on IMO...
  14. Excellent news !
  15. The same newspapers were also reporting that he would join them in January too... Make of that what you will..
  16. If the reported price for Beckford ( See Dubai Phil's last post on the Beckford thread as coming from the Telegraph) was £13 million with add on's, I would bet my bottom dollar that we did not place a bid - And at that price I'm glad we did'nt.
  17. Nah - He would be as welcome there as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip!
  18. Reckon we will be automatic promotion with West Ham... Leicester/Boro/Burnley/Brighton for play offs
  19. But would you pay £5 million + for Maynard who only has one year left on his contract anyway? We did'nt and neither did a few others...
  20. Hopefully NA might have a loan earmarked for this position but if not, I also think JB would be a good shout on a PAYP deal.
  21. Blakey Eh - Think he must be the miserable Bus Inspector from "On The Buses" ! I think you have just blown his idiotic ramblings out of the water there Benji !
  22. I would suggest that most deals are not concluded by most clubs - You only hear of the ones publically that close and not the great many that don't. Fees might be agreed with another club to talk but why close a deal if in the course of negotiation something appears that is not right ( A kickback perhaps or a medical revealing a dodgy ankle) ! God save us from recruiting players that are not right for the club after all.
  23. That being the case, best he gets his act together, show contrition for his bad attitude and work bloody hard to get back into NA's good books - Then he might get a game.
  24. You obviously prefer the Ridsdale/Skate approach of paying over the odds for players, or the Lowe appraoch of paying over the odds for crocks ( Read Delgado and then Fontaine perhaps).. Personally I prefer the Cortese way !
  25. Or Jemal wanting a kick back for his old club... Or £1 million Fontaine having a dodgy ankle ... I thought financial efficiency was the "buzzword" of the Conservative Party - Not the spend, spend , spend of the Labour Party !!
