Huddersfield appreciation/respect thread
Foxstone replied to southbourne saint's topic in The Saints
Udders deserve promotion after their unbeaten run, and I hope they don't choke it. -
Life is so good right now.....

The much Maligned Rickie Lambert this season
Foxstone replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Form is temporary but class is permanent. He will be back all guns blazing next season! -
Sadly not in my opinion.. Cameron does not have the conviction or the balls to stand up to this hideous PC world we live in!
-
Absolutely right! And what was worse the forum lurkers like Sequoia, Saint-Marc, Waterloo Saint, Lifelongsaint, Saint David, Tommac etc were whipping up the ante even more... It was crazy but well worth being part of for the experience alone!

Just wondered whether any of those takeover threads survived from the previous forum! They were an absolute compelling obsession for many many people over that summer, and some of the posts on there were pure genius! Also wonder in terms of numbers of posts, how it compares with the longstanding but no less entertaining "Pompey Takeover Thread".

Fonte and Lallana are our class players and perhaps the obvious choices but I went for Barnard.. Maybe not the most talented, but he has given nothing less than 100% in every game he has played for us - Fantastic never say die attitude that has on occasions rubbed off onto his team mates and driven us forward.

Heady Times indeed.. The excitement on this boards predecessor was palpable.. There was no doubt that Allan expressed an interest until it was quashed by his "man" called Mr Nank if my memory serves me correctly. Then silly season started and pretty much all of the board were in denial still expecting it to happen. We had Barry the Briefcase , HelpmeRhonda who sat under the Toomers with her Remy Martin on ice:lol: , Sequoia ( Who I think was Lowe), Saint Marc ( Who was Mikey COYR), and of course lifelongsaint ( outed by Richard Chorley) and Saint David ( who wrote a personal letter to Allan and offered to meet him).. An throughout all this fervour, we had to go to the bank with a begging bowl to sign Saga - And Bale and Jones left us... Absolutely crazy summer..

Great sitcom.... "thats the kind of guy I am" The man's ability to write magnificent comedy is up there amongst the best ever. Very sad news

Thats the sort of character required of a mentally tough side in a promotion chase... Well done NA and the team - An excellent result delivered under pressure. As for Poyet - No class! I suspect his rambling drivel will be thrown back in his face in the CCC.

Yay ! Happy Saturday one and all....

Wonderful post Gemmel ! Just loved one of the comments on their realising that Kanu's 3 year deal was 1 year as a player and 2 years as a coach " A coach" ! More like a charabanc

Brighton's promotion a possible blessing?
Foxstone replied to SaintAmongSkates's topic in The Saints
One thing for certain is that Brighton are not going to park the bus on Saturday, so it will be an open game. Far better we have one of those rather than trying to break down a 10 man defence. -
Wish we had Armstrong and Case in our midfield now!
-
Magnificent memory... Reminded me of why I used to really like Kachloul so much too! And Gary Monk at right back!

Glad you are safe and sound Minsk but my thoughts are with those who were not.

Chuffed to bits with today! A very tricky tie well negotiated. If we continue to hold our nerve like this then we will be fine.

It may well have been the same match Miffy, although there were 3 games at BTC that morning. I was over the far side by the changing rooms so was not close to the events going on "in the middle",although the lad I saw with his nose bleeding was wearing a brown shirt. You are right regarding the referee who appeared to be handling things exceptionally well, and I share your commendation of him. I also share your concerns around "parent aggro" at some TYro games, and indeed each set of supporters are supposed to be on opposite sides of the pitch behind cones (or in BTC's case - tape), and not behind the linesman. I think that has improved things to a decent degree, but it is also difficult to enforce once the match is underway.

My son was playing on the adjacent pitch. While I did not see the incident there was a huge commotion, and the referree of our game halted proceedings so he could go and assist the ref of that particular game keep order as best he could. I saw the assaulted lad and he did have a pretty bloody nose. 3 Police Cars turned up quite quickly, but by then things had settled down somewhat. I do hope the man who resorted to this thuggery is not allowed near another youth football match again - Notwithstanding the fact that he clearly has an anger problem, he is an appalling example to his own son and his teammates.

He was the tango man forensic accountant engaged by Mikey "COYR" Wilde to examine our books before he spent what we could not prudently afford. He then became chairman and must have had an immense expense account to keep flying backwards and forwards from Portugal. In my own opinion, he was a useless tool who added nothing, cost us loads and was very much part of out problems in 2006 and 2007. Poor Coventry.

Rest in Peace true Saint and condolences to his friends and family. I'm sure his grandson will treasure that last trip for the rest of his days..

Classic UKIP voting apparell don't you think ?

I think Gemmel said in his previous post that Rupert's son is a Saints fan, so clearly a bit of Dad and Lad time going on.. No problem with him popping his head up now and again to watch the team he clearly came to regard ( if not support )
