Forget Ramirez, we've got Puncheon
-
Was Guly one of them?
-
Good to see he's picked up Adkins phrase's during all these interviews

I think Pele has had other clubs, based on todays performance, I think this will be his last season playing. As has been said above, quite a few youngsters are playing at a good non-league standard. Jamie White scored 50+ league goals for Winchester City last year. Holder-Spooner was at Eastleigh last season but fell out with the management and got picked up by Basingstoke, he has 2 goals in last 3 games
-
This deal has been on and off more times than a bloody lightswitch
-
Today I had the pleasure of watching Basingstoke v Hayes & Yeading and I noticed 2 ex-Saints were on show; Basingstoke had ex-Academy player Jordace Holder-Spooner up front, whilst H&Y had Pele playing CB. Just thought I'd give a give mention as to how they are doing now. Holder-Spooner scored the first (in a dramatic 2-2 draw in which H&Y scored 2 goals in 10 minutes of injury time) and looked quite good. He's quick, very quick, but his attitude and off the ball play need improving. There's no reason why he can't go on and play league football if he puts his mind to it. Pele, on the other hand, had a nightmare. He must be about 35 now and it showed. He was given a torrid time by the Basingstoke strikers, he's put on weight too. The bloke next to me seemed very surprised that he'd played at such a high level before. The Blue Square South league has quite a few ex-Saints (and pro's playing) and it's always interesting to see how they are doing now

Forgetting the last bit, Is there any proof he is an EU national? And he still needs clearance to work here. Which, as you have pointed out, is guaranteed for EU nationals (unless he's a drug dealer or wanted for murder etc)
-
He'll still need a work permit, even of he holds an EU passport, it just means that the % of him Getting one are a lot higher than non-EU nationals.

Both articles were posted at about quarter past 1 this morning. That's dedicated journalism for you. Hopefully we'll see some developments today. He looks a cracking player on YouTube, but then again, so do most people

The player and club know of our interest and what we'll offer. If Spurs go back, everyone knows they'll have to match/beat our personal offer. It'll be who blinks first, unless an outside club come in and outbid us
-
That would make things easier then. Thanks
-
Has anyone worked out if he'll need a work permit?
-
I think he's more of a left-back that can play centre-back too - bit like Silvestre or Abidal and is probably Ajax's first choice left-back now Anita hs been sold to Newcastle
-
Did just see that, can ply left back and centre-back and sounds promising. I think he's now 1st choice left back at Ajax since Vernon Anita moved to Newcastle so may be costly
-
most on here are almost number 2 now...
-
it actually wasn't me though was it?
-
So 2 Centre Backs that kick with the same foot can't play together?
-
Centre Back, an option that hasn't been considered.

Absolutely no way. He hasn't played CB for a good 2 or 3 years, he's far too lightweight. He'd get murdered there in the PL -
I know Rickie has never been remotely quick but he looked so slow yesterday it was cringe-worthy. I'd take £6m for him. £5m profit and we've had his best playing days. Maybe chuck in Olsson and/or Dann and I'd be happy

Why are people still getting a hard on over this Nixon guy? he's nothing special. It really is pathetic
-
what's more worrying is that people still hang on every word that man says...

What was the atmosphere at SMS like today?

for a team that gets ridiculed for their lack of fans, Wigan were decent. we were flat. the whole game I had some racist moron stood behind me calling everyone c***s and getting aggressive when a woman with 2 young children asked him to watch his language! -
That was a wake up call! Firstly, credit where credit is due, Wigan played well, a well organised team who didn't allow us ANY time to settle on the ball. They also took their chances. We looked lethargic, no urgency and no real ideas going forward. We still can't defend, and unless some reinforcements are bought in, we'll be heading straight back down. We also lack strength in depth. The 4-3-3 which was basically 4-5-1 didn't work, not at home. And why did it take Adkins 75 minutes to change it? Clyne looked good, as did Davis, when he becomes match fit it'll be crucial. Fox looked to be struggling with the injury he picked up in the first half. If ever there was proof that we need to spend some sensible money, that was it. Thankfully that performance came before the close of the window

I'm sat in block 44 today, I don't have a season ticket this year. I have had a season ticket for the past 11 seasons
