Does rat poison work with cats?
-
Your attendances have fluctuated very little in comparison between your bad and good times. That's because most of your fans lap up the crap spouted by Storrie, Chainrai and whoever else owns your club. Apart from the "It's all the PL's fault" protest there has been no widespread protest or boycott by fans, none at all. As for our boycott it was called a boycott by us fans. It was called a boycott by the Echo, by the BBC, by Sky, by most broadcasting platforms that broadcast in this country. Hence why it was called a boycott. Conspiracy is it?
-
You see Corp, what you've unwillingly proven with those figures is that we were getting similar attendances despite there being an organised boycott resulting in thousands and thousands of saints supporters not attending games when you were at the height of the Peter Storrie spending. The only protests I've seen from Pompey fans on the box were wailing about how all of Storrie's finacial lunacy was all the PL's fault You've also proven that your still getting lower attendances than the figures you've posted during our boycott despite having just had new owners and "everything being ok again" according to the majority of the Pompey fans. Another fact is that in the 09-10 season our average attendance in League 1 (20,108 to be exact) was higher than any of your PL seasons 2009-2010: 18,249 2008-2009: 19,694 2007-2008: 19,914 And this is all despite the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton having very similar general populations.

Sure, this was the season of the civil war within the boardroom and thousands of fans were boycotting games every week. The protests against Lowe, Wilde and Crouch were making Sky Sports News never mind the local news. Granted, there were other factors as well like the fact we played our youth team to cut down our debt (unlike you) and were severely struggling both on and off the pitch which would lower attendances for any club. Now that we've both relatively recently had new owners and are in the same division, our attendance against Leeds was virtually double what you had against Reading last night.

And I think this is where Jaidi will come in very useful. Even at his age he's the perfect player to bring on in the last 15-20 mins when we're defending a lead, camped in our own half and the opposition are spraying balls into our box left right and centre
-
I think that was announced in The News. "Redevelopment" was basically PR speak for "doing the minimum to keep the health & safety bods happy"

Antonov and Dubnov have got plenty of laundered money they need to be rid of quick?

This worries me Nah Adkins is unproven in the PL and it's only a lower end club that could possibly go for him. Even if they did it's increasingly looking like long term he's in a better position now than he would be if he jumped ship. Besides I'm sure Mr Cortese would have something to say about it

I'm not one to usually complain about the server but it was absolutely appalling tonight -
It took me 3 attempts to access this thread

sorted it. it gives me an option to put a code on to access the main menu

It's more to do with the general Pompey fan view that after years of cheering on the success of a playing squad built entirely on reckless debt whilst openly stating they didn't give a damn where the money was coming from, they then insist when the **** hits the fan that the debt has nothing to do with them and is all Chainrai's fault but oh we'll keep the FA cup win. It's been going on for so long that a lot of Pompey fans still don't know where their club is and still don't understand why their squad is so small, and why they don't have a Leicester City like squad. Your comments about Chainrai are probably entirely correct and the same could be said for Storrie but it had everything to do with the club. You were all so willing to cheer and brag about Pompey FC when the financial lunacy brought success, but you're all so willing to whine and insist it has nothing to do with the club when you have to face the consequences, like a group I saw in a pub shouting "F*ck off taxman" at the television and after discussing "Why the f**k is the taxman demanding money from us" when the court cases were happening. As for this season we've made an encouraging start and we're 5 points ahead of you already. I think it'll be another long and hard season for you with a squad which I think is weaker than last year. We'll see what happens in the loan window but the Benjani signing is a bizarre one, considering you beat Stockport for his signature it smacks of desperation to me. But never mind, according to almost any Pompey fan who I try and discuss this with rationally says it's hunky dory "because we beat you 4-1" and that one result when you were 2 divisions above us anyway means everything is ok again. Am I smarting over the 4-1? No. It just always amuses me when that is the only justification a lot of Pompey fans I know give when they insist nothing is wrong at their club

Bankers have been up to something dodgy - who'd have thought it? There is one rather significant difference that you have overlooked. Unlike Pompey, the banks' entire existence don't depend on having a relatively huge amount of laundered money pumped through them to keep them running. They rely on Joe Public opening bank accounts for that. Jeez what is that noise? Ah yes it's the deafening sound of a barrel being scraped.

Basically I'm trying to delete the adult channels off my freeview box, which appears to have the most pointless parental controls ever I've worked out how to either delete them or lock them with a code but the problem is both these options are right next to the auto retune option, which as soon as it's selected re-tunes all the channels within 2 minutes and removes all the codes I've put in that did block the adult channels. I fear it depends on the specific model (I think it's a wharfedale but won't be be to find out what model til tonight) and I'll take a closer look at the instruction manual, but is there any way of blocking the channels to stop them being scanned in the first place, or setting it so you have to type in a code to do an automatic scan?

yes it does

The most ludicrous comment on QT last night was a toss up between a woman saying that the Met had deliberately delayed police getting to riots and held them back when they were there so the rioters could maximise the damage so the government could push in "more authoritarian legislation", and a bloke saying we not only stop their benefits but should also seize all of the rioters private property to pay for all the damage they called.

Delap, just for the sheer power he generated from the position he was in
-
"Improvements" I wonder if this is included in the CVA
-
So long as Cortese's face doesn't start appearing on every official saints football/shirt/training bib/training cone/hamburger packaging etc. I think we can safely say he's not running the place as a dictatorship
-
Anyone see Prescott on QT last night? He was having a pop at all the bankers/rich and privileged people/anyone going to private school being at fault for a lot of the social instability. This coming from er Baron Prescott. . . it was hypocrisy at its finest

NC is going for promotion this season, isnt he ?

He's certainly building a very handy team that is free scoring, I agree with you. I'm also very thankful that we have wealthy and financially sensible owners and a tactically aware/intelligent manager who I have a lot of faith in and a very useful squad of players. Think about the last time we had a decent squad in this division when we had a blithering idiot in charge who'd have had Danny Fox at CB, Lambert on the centre of midfield and Jack Cork as a striker. Then dropped Lallana from the entire squad after he'd scored a hat-trick in the previous game. Oh and would have still been playing a now 35-year old Jermaine Wright at RB. We haven't been in such a good position in a very long time
