Someone just posted gone to Norwich on Echo site!
  2. More signings this week blimey what happens when we run out of money? At this rate a player a day and we'll have a bigger squad than all the division put together! Not knocking it - but another player tomorrow, a win at Millwall, followed by yet another player on Monday. Blimey this is worswe than when we were specualting who was going to leave last year!
  3. Not according to someone on here he was a big Man U fan when at school! Brian Stock - Are you Richrd Chorley in disguise?
  4. We haven't spent that much yet have we? Most of it is speculative gossip at best... WE are a millionaires toy and he wants success, hence he is pumping money in now - he can't wait by the looks of it! He's obviously asked AP what he needs and there is a shopping list - how much it costs is irrelevant to a multi-millionaire.
  5. I can't believe nothing reported at the moment all because of speculation of a website/fans forum. Let's just wait and see what happens next - rumours are just that, and the official club website will be the first place to look when there is any concrete news. Unless someone on here get's a personnel message from the man, and decides to share it with us! Excited about the prospect of any player with Premiership qualities considering a move to us - but let's face it if you could move now for or wait for 3-years what would you do?
  6. Anybody bothered to look at Donny's fans forum to see if they have wind of anything?
  7. All this conjecture sure makes for an interesting Monday morning on here. Press conferences galore next week then... I wonder if Gillet going to Doncaster as a tough tackling midfielder is just a coincidence?
  8. More like Laughing Stock
  9. Personally I think Leeds have much more to offer. Defensively they have decent full backs and a commanding centre half. In midfield they have Doyle who has a real engine and gets stuck in - unlike our fancy footed lot. Up front they have much more to offer with more width and once decent goal scorer. Saying that we contained them at Elland Road and should have at least got a draw. Once we woke up and started chasing the game they looked under a bit of pressure. Think we have the better goalie - and without Beckford they may struggle for goals.
  10. Happy to get through - but this was a potential bananna skin waiting to happen! What a difference a few days make - Colchester (our nemesis under Boothroyd) well and truly hammered by Preston. What does that say about our chances in The Championship next season? In the immortal words of Greavesy "Funny old game, Saint". Not sure where we go from here? Personally a nice home draw with Brighton in the next round would do me...or even Reading once they **** Liverpool in a minute! Not too sure if new players will upset the team/squad. We need a right back and cover for Jaidi/Perry. Another striking option would be good too as without Lambert we don't score or create as many chances. That lot down the road still in big trouble - financially they are walking a tight rope and with only about 10,000 (2,000 Cov fans) the supporters seem to be abandoning ship too. How long before they return to SMS? Let's hope next season after a great run culminating in a play-off Wembley win! It's all about belief and faith something people on here seem to have an abundance! By the end of January I think our future will be determined - glass half full at the moment, but then again it is my second can!
  11. Bringing a football virgin tomorrow along with my father in law who lives in Colchester. Could care less who plays as long as we perform and tke them to the cleaners. Hammond will be well up for it - and I fancy Rickie may chip in with a couple tomorrow too. It's long drive back tomorrow at least 4-hours - sure it'll be worth it though!
  12. A big day out for Tisdale and his team - they will raise their game for sure - so we must be up for it too. I think the defeat to Leeds will focus everyone - 13 games and counting after Saturday to hit the play offs according to The Echo!
  13. It is strange but the OLD Itchen North will never return until season tickets are available. The last time I went there for a game after it being closed it was full of wannabe Itchen boys...and the atmosphere was pretty poor tbh. There are certain things taht need to be rectified and one of them is to open the Itchen North next season for season tickets. In this day and age and league the potential for fisty cuffs in pretty minor. At Leeds on Saturday I was stood next to a section of home fans - and completely ignored them. I believe that the smallest of police presence could control any crowd - and to be honest I think most of the fans would be self controlling. Most were on first name terms with the police and stewards anyway; so why all the extra hype over additional cost? I'm sure it was still the ploy of "he who must not be named and shamed on these pages" to get revenge on the lunatic fringe... Please Nicola we are not the lunatic fringe just more passionate about our clubthan an ex-Chairman who nearly killed our club. Get Blocks 1-3 open - providing the away fans stay put - it is what generates a real atmosphere.
  14. Open the Block 1-3 for Boxing Day? Come on you reds!
  15. Not read all the comments but I thought Leeds were a much better team on the day. They took to the conditions better - I wonder if Waigo found it too cold? The hoof to Lambert was tried but never worked - their defence was too good for that - and Lambert plays better facing the goal than with his back to it! Leeds bossed the midfield and poor old LLoyd James had a stinker. Bart had very liitle to do - except for one exceptional save in the second half. Beckford is a cheat - Jaidi a man mountain. The ref was poor. All in all it was no disgrace to lose - but in fairness I thought we were playing for a draw. Never once until after they scored did we attack with any real impetus. We so nealry scraped an equlaiser in the added 4-minutes. This team is a credit to the City - we could never win every game - but let's start another run on Saturday against Exeter - and climb the table.
  16. Blimey a bit of snow and the world comes to a grinding halt. What happened the British get up and go spirit? Look chaps I live in the East Riding about 12 miles from York and 36 from Leeds - it really isn't that bad. We've had a few inches this morning but stopped now. Even melting off the cars. I'm not saying it won't freeze again or there won't be more snow - but I can't see the game being called off at this stage. Not a hint of it in the local news.
  17. I thought that too!
  18. I reckon about 8mins plus at least 4mins for subs and goal(s)!
  19. It's a bit of a walk - advised to take the bus by my associates who regualrly train to Elland Road.
  20. Did anyone go one step beyond and try the Rickie Lambert lament? Fantastic - I think it was done at Walsall last week!
  21. A bit jittery at HT but the biys done good. Bring on Leeds! Rickie 's goal tally up to 18 for the season - and a clean sheet as well! FAN-bloody-tastic! He stands at nearly six foot three Rickie Rickie He'll take us to The Premier League Rickie Rickie He gets the ball and takes the p*ss He wears the shirt of Matt Le Tiss Rickie Lambert Southampton's Goal Machine At last a man truly worth having that famous No.7 shirt!
  22. I think it is a lot to do with you don't get a good kicking at away games any more! Seriously though on form on the road was very poor season after season - an away win was rarer than hens teeth! We weren't very entertaining had something to do with it. I also believe there are people who like visiting these strange places like Hartlepool - let's face it once you've done WHL or Upton Park, or got vertigo at Newcastle - it gets a bit repetitive. I think there is a new breed of away fans - it used to be a few hardy soles looking to defend the honour of the City (if you get my drift) - but since people stopped going to SMS under the dark Lord and took up with away games, they saw that they are a much better day out. Friendly locals to chat with before the game over a beer. The local pubs invite you in rather than "no away fans". The atmosphere is a bit of a party - dare I say Disco (oops I forgot the count down!) It is strange to be amongst so many friends at away games. It's all very good humoured - even the stewards seem "nicer" although I'm not expecting an easy day at Leeds! Long may it continue - I used to travel all over the country and people used to say "You're not a big club you never bring any fans to our place!". Not true in this League - the truth will be if we get promoted and maintain the level of support at away games.
  23. Does this include a pie & pint house within walking distance of the stadium for home and away fans to mix? Fans should be able to decide what is sold in the stadium shops - specifically beer and snacks. It's going to be about perference - but a decent lager & bitter is a must for any football ground. People don't mind paying over the odds aas long as it is a decent pint! Then again with the thousands staying away - their voice will never be heard above the clamour of the real supporters, the season ticket holders. Brace yourselves for a bumpy ride - it'll be my season ticket is better than yours next. Hang on it already is especially if you sit in The Itchen over The Northam! Can't fault the effort - but I will never be a season ticket holder as long as I have a hole in my ar$e - however I will always be a supporter whether there is a charter for me or not! Roxy Saints do The Strand - Mr Cortese...a bit before your time!
  24. This is a strange one to call. On the one hand we are on another very good winning streak - on the otherhand Tranmere have nothing to lose by having a go at us. We know what Brighton did to us in the first 20/30 minutes - if Tranmere try the same we might struggle. I wouldn't worry if we went 1-0 down - but then again I'd be much happier with a very early goal (for Saints) followed by woeful defensive display by Tranmere resulting in a 6-0 win. Can't see it mind more likely to be 1-0 and batter them for 93 minutes only for them to equalise on 94! We are significantly better than most teams in this league and we are beginning to belive it ourselves. No harm in a bit of arrogance on the pitch (or the terraces) but let's be restrained, saving it for after the game (if we win)! I can't help it - I feel strangely optimistic providing we keep clear of silly suspensions and serious injuries. As for all the knockers on here give credit where it is due. The team of Liebherr, Cortese, Pardew & Wilkins have turned our lack lustre shell shocked yougsters into a half decent side. Admittedly we now have some backbone - Jaidi, Hammond and Lambert. All new (and welcome) additions to the squad. Every week I look at the sides around us - visiting some of the grounds and watching some decent football - we should fear no one. We as supporters can only hope and pray that Mr. Complacency doesn't come back to roost in the ivory towers of SMS - but I think there is too much riding on it for some of the players. Some of the squad are clearly a different class - and they will want to play at a higher level. I almost get the feeling as much as they would take automatic promotion - some will relish to chance to step out at Wembley in May to show the footballing world what the club is capable of. It may be the hard way - two more games, but they will relish the challenge. How I would love Leeds to hit a bad run of injuries and only make the play offs - only for us to doom them to another season in League 1. We all have dreams - but sillier things could happen! Not sure where that leaves me really - oh yes a reality check...2-0 Saints. They won't stop Lambo or Connolly...but almost everyone else will be close to scoring!
  25. On the where should we aim stakes...here's my take. I've seen 3-games in 11-days and we really are too good for most teams in this league. I do not think we have to fear anyone - and hence even as Saints fans we should be more optimistic and set our targets high. I don't believe automatic promotion is an option but surely the play offs is the least we should be aiming for. If Leeds and Charlton wobble who knows sod the play offs let's take an automatic spot. Personally I'd take a trip to Wembley and a win in the play offs - we should fear no one providing the players and staff do not lose focus! I've seen so called top teams play us and honestly they weren't that good...Leeds will realy test us - but even they aren't bullet proof. Huddersfield made us look like amateurs earlier this season - but we are a totally different unit now. The first half dozen games were Pardew's pre season preparation. I still think he is tinkering and does not have the best side out there - but even that is better than over 50% of the sides in this division. We are truly a lucky lot. The new owner invested in a goal scorer, a giant colussus at the back and a decent midfield general with experience in this league. If we get promoted all the teams will say be bought success - but who cares? We are the Chelsea of League 1 - let's not get as arrogant as Chelsea fans... Love the fact I can go to work most Mondays feeling good thanks to a real team performance...COYR
