  1. Many many years ago whilst in hospital waiting to be operated on I had to fill in a form. One question asked what religion I was and I, being bored and wanting to be different, answered none. The look of shock on the nurses face was amazing and she said she would put me down on the form as C.O.E. I objected and she didn't seem to like me very much after that and she didn't appear to be very forgiving either. Along with the saying that there are no atheists in a foxhole I think that is also difficult to find a 100% atheist amongst people facing a major operation.
  2. "An airline in the United States has kicked a mother and toddler off their flight because the child was screaming too loudly." According to an MSNBC poll, a full 76 percent of people take Southwest’s side in the matter, applauding the removal of the offending toddler. The consensus on the Southwest side is that kids his age probably should not fly, and that perhaps the mother was not parenting well enough. http://travel.msn.co.nz/destinations/northamerica/927189/airline-removes-crying-child-from-flight
  3. Starting threads with "FAO" is not allowed so you should ask another admin to ban you for a week

  5. "We're gradually sorting things out. We're working around the clock to do so. But its not going to happen overnight – we've been in charge [only] four weeks." But our owner sorted the money side out within days of taking over IIRC
  6. I wish you would stop playing with the size of your avatar, it is most annoying.
  7. Never heard of that beer called Timothy Taylor but remember Timothy White and Taylors the chemist shop used to be one in Soton High Street IIRC.

  10. "A man has launched a legal case against the makers of a deodorant after it failed to help land him a girlfriend. Vaibhav Bev is suing the firm that manufactures Lynx after succumbing to ads in which gorgeous women throw themselves at men wearing the scent. The Indian national is claiming compensation for "depression and psychological damage" after regular use failed to give him the desired result." http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/mp/6420775/man-sues-deodorant-maker-over-lacklustre-love-life/ :smt046
  11. I am married and I live in New Zealand hence my avatar :D:D
  12. "Intelligent conversation and good manners go a long way. When you're in desperate mode, however, they tend to go out the window. Girls generally know you have sex on the mind, it's that simple, so delete the physical stuff from your thoughts and you may actually build a rapport with a female – enough to make a good impression. Being too 'full-on' or sleazy will only repel her, and quickly." http://lifestyle.msn.co.nz/blog.aspx?blogentryid=524362&showcomments=true

  14. I think that he will try his hardest to help Barri get up to second in the final table even if it means he himself gives up a podium place.
  15. We still scored 3-1 as the last few games Only snag one of the 3 was for them
  16. t seems that Sulaiman Al Fahim’s head is as empty as his wallet. He continues to chatter as if he were some kind of big player on the football scene, instead of a pretender whose only contributions to Manchester City and Portsmouth were large deposits of embarrassment. The 32-year-old (don’t laugh) has stopped calling himself doctor. But he still professes to be a ‘sports addict’ who ‘loves chess and has invested in women’s volleyball and horse racing’. Yes, that could make him a sports addict. It could also make him a sofa-loving pervert with a gambling problem. Who knows? But Al Fahim, the man who couldn’t pay the Pompey players, now says he dreams of buying Real Madrid or Barcelona. Of course he does. I think those ‘dreams’ have been his problem all along. Luckily, the rest of us are wide awake. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-1224244/Des-Kelly-The-cover-real-story-Andre-Agassis-drug-use.html#ixzz0VUzKrrWX
  17. I suppose you could indeed say that but it has grown a bit since then. Could perhaps now be compared to when people started writting notes to others in the same room and then to other countries via the Postal system. Everything has to start small and then grow.
  18. The latest airport security trend is the backscatter x-ray machine, touted as a powerful way to virtually frisk a traveler for contraband without the embarassment of a strip search. While the conventional wisdom has held that so-called "terahertz radiation," upon which backscatter x-ray machines are based, is harmless because it doesn't carry enough energy to do cellular or genetic damage, new research suggests that may be completely wrong. Specifically, researchers have found that terahertz radiation may interfere directly with DNA. Although the force generated is small, the waves have been found to "unzip double-stranded DNA, creating bubbles in the double strand that could significantly interfere with processes such as gene expression and DNA replication." http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/154196/oops-backscatter-x-ray-machines-tear-apart-dna/
  19. I never realised it was that old, mind you it is still a lot younger than me. On October 29, 1969 Kleinrock led a team that got a computer at UCLA to "talk" to one at a research institute. http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/technology/6406312/internet-turns-40-with-birthday-party/
  20. Well IMHO it's time Pompey were wound up and ceased trading, they are a disgrace to the Prem and Football in general. Lets face it if a horse suffered as much and it was not put to sleep the R.S.P.C.A. would take the owner to Court. Just a thought but how about a petition to the Prem lot demanding Pompey are thrown out ?
  21. If the UK left how would that affect the Immigration / work permit situation with regards to the EU ?? Surely it would make it very difficult to obtain "foreign" players even on loan ?
  22. "But today his agent Tony Finnigan said that prison would change King for the better." Well his last spell in prison didn't appear to change him for the better, unless I am missing something it appears to me that he has not changed at all.
  23. Good job Essruu doesn't live in NZ "Taxi drivers are being trained as security guards to cut response times to burglar alarms at suburban homes and commercial properties." "Mr Staples said cabs carrying passengers would not be sent to check alarms." http://msn.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10606491&ref=rss
  24. I remember a player called Tommy Mulgrew, he scored some goals but also seemed to miss a lot as well, mainly by hitting shots over the bar. IIRC of course being a really old person
