Astute class subs : Question for DellDays
Saint in Paradise replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Lounge
The boat is delayed for a while but is still heading for home port when the crew realise "last orders" will soon be called ???? -
Don't forget he has to dumb down a little bit otherwise his readers wouldn't be able to understand what he is writing.

I am sick, sorry and tired of Israel constantly harping on about and playing the holocaust card. It was over 67 years ago that WW2 ended but I heard on Friday NZ time that Germany is to pay even more money to Israel because of the holocaust. I meet people from most countries who have visitors to NZ and those from Israel are the very worst.

Don't forget they also have to save 10% every month as well so that 212 GBP will actually be 233 GBP ( if my maths are correct and they might not be ) "You must save at least 10% of the monthly loan repayment as well as the repayments on the loan"

^^^^ Couldn't have put it better myself brightspark.

I found this message at the end a bit amusing though "This article reflects the personal opinion of Mr Shan and Ms Caddy, and does not represent the views of the BBC." .

Ahem that was last January BTF

Were you really not here ? Can't say I noticed

I am getting to the stage of wondering how much longer deportation or imprisonment for any crime will be allowed as it obviously harms "human rights"

As much as I would like this to happen I am afraid that judging by how "Courts" have fallen over backwards to help them in the past I really can't see a judge refusing them this time.

The more things change the more they stay the same. "It gives us a chance to bring in someone next week hopefully," he said. "It needs to be before the Doncaster game. Probably one of the places we haven't got enough competition is at centre-half."

Thames Water, are they trying to become the pompey of the water companies by delaying payment of tax to HMRC?

Well said, wish I could be so eloquent.

Some posters just keep harping the same old story in the hope that the more they repeat it the more likely other people will become to believe it. The old saying "Empty vessels make the most noise" springs to mind. CB Fry said "No wonder all the great posters don't come here any more." well I would like to amend that a little as some still do drop in now and then, post an interesting view and suffer by being moaned at by the empty vessel types. .

Well for me if Weston Saints says there was no meeting then I for one believe him. Weston never posts unless he is really sure that what he says is correct - unlike some others on here.

I thought that bird was Fiona Richmond with Malcolm A not Linda Lovelace ? Can't be bothered to look though.

Look at Bournemouth for inspiration...

Bournemouth has better beaches than Southampton -
I was waiting for someone to say England actually as when I was last there it seemed to be like that then. "- native citizens expecting the government to give them everything they require (and desire) without contributing anything first, - non citizens flocking in to the centre of empire demanding the same thing, - governments, unable to provide said goodies, borrowing heavily whilst distracting the masses with bread and circuses (or their modern day equivalent, sporting extravangazas, fireworks and 'free' handouts to all who'll vote for them).

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: “A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.” “The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.” The (American) Obituary follows: Born 1776, Died 2008 Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2008 Presidential election: Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29 Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000 Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1 Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...” Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase. If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years. Rome fell for a number of reasons, including one very large factor (which I'm simplifying here) - after it could no longer man its legions with Roman citizens, (too many of whom who wanted to enjoy the good life Rome offered without first contributing anything towards making that good life possible), it manned its legions with paid mercenaries from among the peoples it had conquered in the outer provinces of its empire. Many of those people, after serving in the Legions, eventually came to Rome - with their families - and demanded the lifestyle that Roman citizens had enjoyed until the system could not cope and collapsed. So let's see, what did they end up with? - native citizens expecting the government to give them everything they require (and desire) without contributing anything first, - non citizens flocking in to the centre of empire demanding the same thing, - governments, unable to provide said goodies, borrowing heavily whilst distracting the masses with bread and circuses (or their modern day equivalent, sporting extravangazas, fireworks and 'free' handouts to all who'll vote for them). Does that remind anyone here of anywhere they know, maybe live in?

Can I too start a thread that is covered in those already going?
Saint in Paradise replied to Hedgehog's topic in The Saints
Not quite, a mod hasn't closed it and then started a thread about the same subject as happened earlier to sotons east side. -
From several links posted by myself and others in a couple of threads, these types of "people" that they alleged are not very nice, inhabit a very wide political grouping.
