  1. When I first saw the name "Terry Hall" I instantly thought of the ventriloquist and Lenny the Lion. I also thought that he had died years ago which in fact he had. I had never heard of the chap it was actually about.
  2. Sick sorry and tired of all the crap ref Harry and Sparkle that appear in on-line editions of so called UK "newspapers" I suspect the actual print versions are just as bad?
  3. Well England set a target of 355. Anyone else seen the Southampton flag? I saw it at the 1st Test as well.
  4. This game is how I think a reasonable Championship team versus a mid table League Two match would look like.
  5. 62 Things Trump Did That You Forgot About To Preserve Your Sanity If past is prologue, let’s take a moment to remember just how unsettling things got during the Trump administration, with this not-even-remotely-exhaustive list of weird and bad stuff he attempted while in office: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/donald-trump-president-things-you-forgot_n_63890ec3e4b0d17409602b90 Just a very small sample:- Asked Russia for help in his 2016 campaign — and got it. Had a weird affinity for Russian President Vladimir Putin. (Remember the Helsinki summit?) Invited Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to an in-person meeting in the Oval Office, where he accidentally revealed top-secret intelligence. Wanted to withdraw the U.S. from NATO. Separated migrant parents from their children, locked the kids in cages and then failed to reunite them. Insisted that “raking” would prevent forest fires because “you’ve got to take care of the floors. You know the floors of the forest, very important.”
  6. Well here in New Zealand we have to put up with the mob from beIN Sports and they include Andy Gray, Richard Keys and one of the Neville's. They sometimes have Joe Cole and John Terry as well as some others plus some boring drab commentators as well.
  7. How 100% true the following is I will let you make up your own minds. IF it is it shows how Putin is even more mentally ill than I thought he was. Why he isn't wrapped up in a strait jacket and imprisoned in a rubber walled cell I have no idea. https://www.newsweek.com/russia-planned-attack-japan-2021-fsb-letters-1762133 Russia was preparing to attack Japan in the summer of 2021, months before President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, an email featuring a letter from a whistleblower at Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), shared with Newsweek, reveals. The email, dated March 17, was sent by the agent, dubbed the Wind of Change, to Vladimir Osechkin, a Russian human-rights activist who runs the anti-corruption website Gulagu.net, and is now exiled in France. The FSB agent writes regular dispatches to Osechkin, revealing the anger and discontent inside the service over the war that began when Putin invaded neighboring Ukraine on February 24. Igor Sushko, the executive director of the Wind of Change Research Group, a Washington-based non-profit organization, has been translating the correspondence from Russian to English since it began on March 4. He has shared all the emails in full to Newsweek, including the March 17 brief.
  8. A pretend putin sits with pretend grieving moms to pretend he cares. One thing is honest - no one has touched the tea or food (notice how the stage-setters have screwed up - everyone appears to have drunk some tea ...but they've all apparently drunk exactly the same amount!) (all the "moms" so far identified are significant figures in either the government, non-profits that happen to back government policy, or putin's political party) This is the routine with "trusted" members of the public. #2 was also a soldier who'd lost a leg when 'putin' did a hospital visit, and has been identified as one of putin's bodyguards.
  9. Qatar pressuring FIFA for World Cup venue beer ban - report. Source: 1News Just days out from kick-off in the 2022 World Cup, it's being reported hosts Qatar are pressuring FIFA to ban alcohol sales at tournament venues. Budweiser, one of FIFA's main sponsors, has the rights to sell beer at the eight grounds being used, meaning football's governing body could breach its valuable contract with AB InBev, the beer brand's owner. According the The Times, the hosts are putting pressure on FIFA to pull beer sales from the venues. FIFA already bowed to pressure and moved the stands where beer was being sold at the grounds to less visible locations. Beer is available - at over $22 for a 500ml can - at fan parks. Qatar is a dry country, with alcohol only normally available at certain hotels. An announcement on the sales policy is expected tomorrow.
  10. From the excellent video posted above, it would make very little difference if NATO were to institute a no-fly zone over the territory the Ukrainians control, in terms of battlefront ops. However, it would increase the destruction of any Russian missiles launched. This would, however, be much more efficiently and safely done by supplying more SAMs. The Poles have stated the missiles are Russian. They have invoked Article Four - not Five - which means consultations with NATO allies about territories being threatened (not violated, which is Article Five). Unsurprisingly, these will be held tomorrow.
  11. "Uh oh...." 1 hour ago...Polish prime minister has called an urgent meeting of a committee for national security and defense affairs https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1697080/russia-poland-missle-dead-NATO-state-Ukraine-war-pictures-world-war-3 Two people have been killed in Poland after two stray rockets landed near the border with Ukraine. The rockets fell in the town of Przewodów, hitting grain dryers. The police, prosecutor's office and the army are reportedly already on the site. Some analysts have suggested the rockets' intended target may have been Lviv, a Ukrainian city about 100km south of Przewodów. It's about 4 miles over the border, almost directly north of Lviv
  12. Two links that do not show the Republicans in a good light. https://i.imgur.com/Xk5DfkL.jpeg https://imgur.com/gallery/pGzV0OT
  13. Well to be fair to this chap how many had heard of Nigel A. before he arrived and how many people wanted him to stay when he was sacked?
  14. Never mind it will all be over in a few weeks and then all will be back to the normal avoiding relegation fight.
  15. Well I expect Ukrainians get on their knees every night and send thanks to whatever imaginary deity they support that Biden rather than Putin's puppet Trump is P.O.T.U.S.
  16. https://ops-normal.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=6954&p=349564#p349564 One cruiser alongside, the other moored fore-aft. Any damage to the one alongside, if that is the Admiral Makarov, would be expected on the starboard side, which cannot be seen as it's against the dock.
  17. Well there was a cartoon character named Garth in the Daily Mirror that ran from 24 July 1943 – 22 March 1997. He belonged to the action-adventure genre and was portrayed as an immensely strong hero who battled various villains throughout the world.
  18. The Russian Air Force began the war in Ukraine with a formidable inventory of combat aircraft (fixed wing and helicopters) supported by an array of stand-off munitions and EWAR capabilities. In the opening hours, it seemed that those capabilities may be paying off, with paratroopers inserting at Hostomel without interception by Ukraine's integrated air defence system (IADS). At the same time, Russian columns were (seemingly incomprehensibly) being picked apart by slow moving TB-2 Drones. But things changed quickly, and since the stabilisation of the situation, the airspace over Ukraine has been contested. Aircraft fly low to avoid interception, while new threats periodically emerge to challenge the equilibrium. Recently, those include HARM missiles, Iranian and Russian loitering munitions, and cruise missile attacks on civilian infrastructure. In this video I look at the impact of air-defence systems on the Ukraine war, and what lessons observers may be taking based on the available data. https://youtu.be/xCEzEVwOwS4
  19. That is very true because under RH people should by now be acclimatized to losing.
  20. I suspect that 90% of people who exist in North Korea don't own a car, house or eat decent food. Anyone who complains together with their extended family will be treated very harshly. Only that insane despot leader, his family and favorite military elite live a decent life and that ends very quickly if they upset "dear leader"
  21. Well the CCP appear to override common sence sometimes and they certainly don't seem to care about their own population let alone people in the rest of the World.
  22. Being old and doddery with a bad memory I am not sure that I am correct but didn't that Maurdaunt person back that Portsmouth team, who went under, against HMRC when HMRC was owed at least £30 million? Didn't she also ignore the plight of some local businesses that went bust because they were also owed money by the same Portsmouth team? IF I am correct I wonder why no-one seems to mention that during the bun fight to become your next P.M. as surly it doesn't put her in a good light IF I am correct?
  23. Will they be borrowing money and using Saints to guarantee (?) the loans? What will happen when due to lack of proper investment in the Saints team results in relegation first to Championship then League one? Will that result in Saints going out of business as the vastly reduced income used to pay off the loans becomes impossible to cover?
  24. The price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies crumbled over the last two days, after a major cryptocurrency lender effectively failed and halted all withdrawals from its platform, citing “extreme market conditions.” Bitcoin was trading at roughly US$23,400 on Tuesday, down more than 16% in the past day. Ethereum, another widely followed cryptocurrency, was down more than 20%. Investors have been selling riskier assets such as digital currencies and technology stocks as the Federal Reserve raises interest rates to combat high inflation. https://www.1news.co.nz/2022/06/14/bitcoin-plunges-as-major-crypto-lender-halts-operations/
  25. In my younger days I was a scrutineer at the T.T. and I can assure you that no competitors are put off by the risk. They are all very aware of the potential damage to themselves and their family but unless you have competed yourself you will never be able to understand why T.T. racers want, indeed in some cases need, to race. I myself was a scrutineer of the machine, ridden by Roger Corbett, just before the race in which he crashed and died. I have never forgotten the feelings I had as I wondered if my scrutineer colleague and me had missed any faults with the bike which caused Roger to crash. His inquest stated that there was NO fault with the bike it was just a tragic accident.
