Yeah absolutely, and its been good fun for that period but it was never going to last forever.

They were always going to win the war. Not one of the five players who left us made a bad move. You could argue that perhaps Chambers left a year too early but in the long-run he'll be fine.
-
Dates not announced yet. I'll be going to the game at Ewood too.
-
I can't really think of a precedent where more than £30m was paid to a club of our size for a midfielder of his age though. Appreciate things outside a players ability impact the fee but I just can't see us getting more than £30m for him, and even that would be stretching it.

Jose Fonte. In addition to his brilliant performances, he is a senior player and leader.
-
Quality wise they could definitely compete, but physically wise I think they would struggle big time. They already get somewhat physically bullied in a lot of games against physically stronger teams in the U21 league, and we all know League 1 is a bit of a hard slog.

can we not get a loan striker in for the final push for europe?

Yeah of course - I was more referencing many on here in the January transfer window. -
Double his money and give him a £30m release clause to Champions League clubs.

I definitely think its a case of better the Devil you know but as you say when these matters are taken out of your hands then you just have to try and recruit as best you can. -

I think he has shown glimpses of quality but that our squad would be better balanced and better placed for the next 10 games had we signed a striker rather than another player to compete with six others for three roles. -

If he isn't good enough, yes. Also we've got two players who fit that exact criteria out on loan. And I wouldn't have signed Djuricic either, which means Long would have no problem getting on the bench. -

Where is the insistence coming from that identifying an issue with depth means you must also name a player who will join? And who on earth on here has any idea whether or not they are good enough for us? In January we signed a player who couldn't get into the Mainz team and another with perceived attitude problems who couldn't get in Werder Bremen's team. They are 12th and 9th respectively in the Bundesliga. I'd say there are plenty of strikers out there that we could have taken a punt on in a loan deal. -

Nathaniel Clyne Joins Liverpool - Official

We definitely need a right-back. We need one now - if Clyne leaves we need two. McCarthy seems to be a central defender who can play right back rather than someone who can specialise in that position. And I think these days you need specialised full-backs. -
I am still to see JWP forge his identity on the pitch which does hinder him however he has a lot of ability and considering he has 66 Premier League appearances to his name and he isn't 21 until November I think we will reap the rewards that this early experience is giving him.

There was probably a word relating to Lallana in the word search in the Liverpool programme, which on a literal level would make Rodgers' comments about nothing about Lallana in the programme incorrect.

Honestly can't see us going for Mings with Bertrand signed for the next 4 years and Targett the next 5. As far as left-back goes, we're set. -

Buy him from us this summer and loan him back for our season in Europe -

If we make it into Europe do you think there is any chance we could have a special European kit? -
Yeah - just taken a look and found this on the UEFA website: Last season a 5 place drop from 6th to 11th would cost you £6m in prize money. I suspect a half decent Europa League run would give Saints a bit of money but nowhere near enough to have a squad that could sustain our current league campaign performance and also play in Europe. No wonder many clubs hate the Europa league. As a fan I'd love it though.
-
What, if any, are the tangible financial benefits to playing in the Europa League? And given the new TV deal, what would be the impact of finishing 5 places further down the league. Say in this example slipping from 6th to 11th. There are also intangible benefits to playing in the Europa League but I'm just interested in the fiscal ones for now.

Saints 1 Palace 0 - Post Match Nerve Reconstruction
Lallana's Left Peg replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
I think Elia has only ever played on the left for us, apart from swapping wings for a few periods of the game. His goals against Newcastle came from the right and through the middle but in both cases he ran from the left which was his starting position. -

You must be joking? How long have you been supporting Saints!?! It was a frustrating performance but absolutely nowhere near one of the worst performances from us. In fact it wouldn't even be in the top 10 from the last calendar year! -

Same problems remain but we squeezed out the win. Really important three points nonetheless. Hard to know what the best mix in the final third is really. A bit puzzling. Maybe it will come to Koeman while the team play Monopoly in Switzerland? -
Maybe that was the luck we needed. Doesn't get us any closer to a bloody goal though.
