I served in the Army for 6 years, there was a gay lad in our squadron, everybody knew it. He was treated no differently. i.e. he had the **** out of him as much as the ginger, fat, foreign, bald, speccy, thick, religious lads. In the army you get a lot of banter, if you can't handle it, don't join. It is an integral part of the camaraderie, the PC brigade would die of shock if they spent a day in an Army platoon. By pointing out that somebody is different and that is fine, you are giving them unwanted attention.

Equality is a good thing, but making it a rule is a bad thing. The military is not like other jobs, and shouldn't be subjected to over PC rules. Gay soldiers now are treated equally, but have to keep quiet about it, with this rule they will be able to say it without fear of the sack, but do they really want attention drawn to them because of their sexuality. By giving them equality, you are actually ensuring that they are treated differently.

Even if Pardew comes in for our players, just to spite Cortese, surely Cortese will not sell them to him out of spite back.

Not the player he once was, and the last thing we need, a lazy player. Nostalgia won't turn our season around. Sadly I think this is part of the problem. Don't necessarily agree with that. He has played well in games without scoring.

It depends what people call "disappointed". I think we will sign Chaplow permanently and perhaps one other, but that should be enough. We have on paper the best team in the league in my opinion, the squad needs bolstering a bit, but we should be challenging for the top two without needlessly throwing more money at the team. Actually, had Lambert been firing like he was last season, I think we would be up there with Brighton already. Would love to see us bring another striker in, if for nothing more than letting Rickie know he isn't guaranteed a place.

Really? Harding was brilliant last season, and I rate him highly, but he had been on awful form leading up to a completely justified dropping in my opinion.

Charlie Austin is a good player at this level, but I have it on good authority from people who have played with him and against him, that he is an utter douchebag, a real "Big I am" player and prone to childish temper tantrums!
