  1. Better close all the transfer threads and any other thread discussing hypothetical future situations, because you can't guarantee they will happen either. Or here's an idea: If you don't think it's worthy of comment, ignore it.
  2. Bit of an understatement that. Totally f*cked up.
  3. Worth noting however that if you request a review you can also get a BILL for MORE tax if (one of) your employer(s) has f*cked up... so be doubly certain of your figures before you do, just in case.
  4. Fight on. Make a few signings and really push on to win the league.
  5. I think this can be unstickied now, surely? Time to move on.
  6. Ancestry here too, although occasionally used other sites on a pay-as-you-go basis for collections that Ancestry don't have. Been doing it for years so if you need any help, I might be able to assist.
  7. Nothing wrong with it at all... having an interest in them, what they did, and perhaps why they did it, doesn't also mean you might be looking for tips or want to emulate them. You just find it interesting. I haven't read any such books but I am interested in the mental state of such people and how they rationalised it in their own minds.
  8. This - I've had a great time on stag dos in Ibiza, Weymouth and Weston-super-mare!
  9. Indeed, rising above it is all well and good, but doesn't pay the bill. I genuinely wonder how someone can grow up to have such little respect for other people and property that they will happily do something like this. You have to be a pretty f*cked up person to gain pleasure from something like this.
  10. Whereabouts was this Bridgey?
  11. About football I said, not necessarily us! It would just be nice if it were our turn!
  12. i have been postin this all season now will someone listen. Not me. Given his goals and assists, I think his positive contributions have been there for all to see. He's not perfect, he can improve, but then so can all of our players. Black and white judgements like this are simply not appropriate IMO. I think we do need further options upfront, but Guly has an important part to play.
  13. Finding potential gems in places like the Dutch second division is one of the best things about football. There've been plenty, there will be plenty more, and it would be nice if we got one! In Adkins I trust.
  14. a+b) Players don't stand in the same position all game, including set-pieces. If they did, you would also be asking why centre backs came forward for corners, and why is a left back taking corner in the 'right wing' position. Sorry, but that's a bit silly. c) Strikers will stop defending, when defenders stop attacking... This is real football, not 'American Football'. 11 players on a pitch with various jobs to do.
  15. I don't see any particular area as a priority, and it is clear that, as we sit top of the league, our squad have performed very well and we don't have any clear weaknesses. But given where we are, it is unlikely we will get a better chance to be promoted back to the Prem than we have right now, and as a result, I fully expect to see us try* to sign at least one striker and one attacking midfielder. This would really improve the squad as a whole and (I actually agree with alpine) help us become even more ruthless in front of goal. Clearly, we have scored and scored well, but we can score more, so lets be ruthless and aim to do exactly that. Sharp would be perfect IMO, but a pacey ball-carrying midfielder with end-product would, personally, be my main aim, because I would like to see a little more venom in our counter-attacks at times, and start to produce the kind of threat to kill off opposition mercilessly at times and not let us get into situations where we only have a one goal lead and get pegged back. This transfer window is all about preparing for the Prem IMO, be confident in what we can achieve and recruit accordingly. * - as always, what we want to do, and who we want to sign, doesn't mean we will get them. Prices will go up, negotiations may well be difficult, so no tubthumping from me. I think NA and NC will be doing their utmost to bring quality players in.
  16. Finally, one we can all agree on.
  17. I think RL probably has his best ever pre-season before this season... he lost weight, toned up, and he is physically sharper and faster than every before. And he's needed to be. His talent is now matched by his fitness and physique and who knows what he can achieve?
  18. Some of the things you lot have mentioned could be explained quite easily, so you know why they happen. Some I agree with entirely... but then again if you let stuff get to you too much, you'll just end up a bitter and miserable sod, and then you would start appearing on this list yourself.
  19. Think emotions are getting the better of some - thought Guly was ok, yes, should've done better for their goal, but wasn't as bad as some are saying. As a team we played some good stuff, but just weren't quite able to take the chances to earn the win. Frustrating and on the day disappointing, but in the great scheme of things, we're top of the league at Christmas despite our recent away form. We'll do them at home, and that'll do for me.
  20. 46,000. F*cking hell.
  21. Far too happy...
  22. No I have not unfortunately. And come off it, you don't think this is an interesting topic, we all know that. So why hide behind such pretence?
  23. Alps, you should be careful, you're edging ever closer to dune in the 'I'm right, you're wrong, la la la la la' stakes.
  24. So, why did dune choose to dig up this thread from May 2010 then I wonder?
