Application form shows the land owner as being Simon Barker of Longdown Management Ltd, Marchwood. ( http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/ConnectAcolaidWebExternal/GetDocumentContentExternal.aspx?documentId=623068&filename=Application+Form+Redacted.pdf )

Having read through some of the docs, this is all for Academy use (only one of the pitches was full-size), but is only for a period of 5 years, as the land is designated for residential use after that... I can only assume there is a longer term plan to move the Academy, and perhaps even the whole training ground, somewhere else in that time?

Here are all the documents: http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/ConnectAcolaidWebExternal/SearchDocumentsExternal.aspx?cpAcolaid+System=DC&cpAcolaid+Reference=13/10844 And the final revised plan of the site: http://web3.newforest.gov.uk/ConnectAcolaidWebExternal/GetDocumentContentExternal.aspx?documentId=680058&filename=5890_D01C.pdf

No business will consider any revenue to be 'secondary'... it's all revenue, full stop, and is all part of the bottom line. Any business that considers any part of its income to be secondary, will fail. Attendance is important, but not as important as the overall income from matchday sales. They will have analysed the figures to death to work out an optimum ticket price, to gain maximum revenue from ticket sales AND other matchday income... Supporters clearly aren't a nuisance... but there's a commercial balance that the club will look to strike, to maximise income without alienating the people who generate that income.

The law of sod. We're above them, we've conceded 2 goals in 7 games, their fans are worried about us... all points to defeat really!

Excellent player who I had a lot of respect for, a decent manager too IMO, although yet to prove anything at the top level. But I have lost a lot of respect for him because of the way he handles himself and media situations, not to mention some of his tactics. But you can't deny he has shown a lot of managerial promise. Beyond that though, I don't care too much and am also not sure how well he'll do at Sunderland... but he can't take them any lower so probably worth a go from his point of view.

We could write some of the questions for John Humphries: 'Calculated as an average per year, how many administrations have Portsmouth been put into over the last 6 years?' 'How many players were listed in the recent Portsmouth News article as being owed by the club after the recent 'fans take-over?' 'Having paid for 57% of the shares in the club, how much control do the fans who paid for them actually have in the running of the club?' 'What % of turnover will the clubs wages be, assuming the same players remain at the club, once the parachute payments stop?' It might actually prove to be educational for other fans watching? They might actually learn something about their predicament... Any other suggestions?

I started to look up the differences between Nationality and Citizenship for this thread - never realised it was all so flippin' complicated: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/aboutcitizenship/ ... and more of the history here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_British_nationality_law (allowing for the fact it is Wikipedia, it is all impeccably sourced)

Bless... there's no guarantee they won't win the next six games, but there are plenty of reasons why they won't.

At least that's closer than the guy next to me shouting 'Sort it out Pottechino!' last Saturday...

Global warming really is happening... (well, duh!)
Minty replied to 1976_Child's topic in The Lounge
In an ideal world, yes, absolutely, but as this thread has shown, if the third part were released first, there would be many asking for the physical science (first part) and proof/detail of the impacts (second part) before accepting the need to curb it... so they want to ensure the background is clear and doubt is removed (as far as is reasonably possible) before getting to the point of taking action. -
207ao... Coles with figures of 19.1-5-71-6

10:30 for those wanting to go straight to the Liverpool v Saints bit... focused on Saints at about 13:06 for all of about 30 seconds...

There was a Sky article about it somewhere, but here are the up-to-date Average Goals Conceded Per Game stats: Spurs 0.2 Roma 0.25 Bayern 0.33 SAINTS 0.4 Chelsea 0.4 Monaco 0.5 Malaga 0.66 ( http://stats.football365.com/ )

158-5 currently... strong position but we know what can happen to tail-enders vs Hampshire!

Plus, it's only an average margin... matchday sales of drinks/food etc will be a lower margin than stuff in the club shop. No idea what the % of sales is in each category, would be interesting to know if there is any data out there.

Think back to when we were in the Premiership before our relegation and the 'quality' of our attack and the other lower sides... I believe the biggest shift is that the money in the Premiership/EPL has enabled even the weaker teams in the league to buy better attacking talent and so they have been better prepared to score against even the top teams... it might not have changed the overall results trend, but has resulted in higher numbers of goals conceded overall.

Cost of sales... e.g. if that forecast income is partly from sales of pies and beer etc, then those extra pies and beer still have to be paid for... It's clearly not been defined in that limited article but if revenue of ~£752k leads to a profit (reduced loss in reality) of ~£250k then they have a profit margin across all revenue streams of 33%.

Those figures are only forecasts to next June... not actual figures. I would hope (purely from a financial prudence point of view) that those forecasts have been made assuming there will be a drop off in the initial support, and not that they will maintain the same support, because the way results are going, it wouldn't surprise me to see that support wane over the course of the season. To reach that forecast in June 2014 would then perhaps be reason for them to be optimistic, but there's a long way to go yet.

I still miss Wild Orchid that closed a few years back... not quite high end like Terravina (by far the best in the area IMO), but was about as good as it got in the City Centre itself.

1:17 on here... [video=youtube_share;esFAGx7RDL4]http://youtu.be/esFAGx7RDL4 That was a stunning double save... not just blocks or getting something in the way, but actually, meaningfully getting his hand to the ball twice. You could see how gutted he was with his reaction as the ball went in the net...

We have been spoilt over the years. The 'over the top' Niemi save I was referring to was vs Villa, and is at 3:25 on this compilation: Takes some beating IMO...

As good as it was, as others have picked up, had it been a better placed free kick, I'm not sure he would've got there... look at Baines or Rooney's goals this weekend... Hart even got his hand to Rooney's even though it was right in the top corner... had Gerrard placed his better, I don't think Boruc would even have touched it. A very good save, but his position may have left him struggling for anything closer to the corner. That said, he did indeed dominate his area the whole game and he has been excellent overall.

I'm not sure he ever really had them - initially they upped their game because they wanted to play and be part of his plans, while they sized him up... now though, 5 games in, they have seen that there is no encouragement, no support, no help for them... only criticism and management by fear. It's entirely the right decision IMO, although the club have to hold their hands up... either they didn't do their homework, or they simply made a huge error in judgement if they ever felt that style of management would work. It doesn't matter how much you're paid, or how much fans might think players should simply 'do their job' because of what they're paid... if you're an employee who does not feel valued and part of something worthwhile, you will either leave or do something about it. They did something about it. He might have toned down his political views, but his management style was closely linked to it, and this was inevitable IMO.
