  4. Number of long-balls played in the PL so far this season: 78 - Newcastle United 69 - Everton 67 - Reading 67 - Wigan Athletic 66 - Liverpool 65 - Chelsea 65 - Fulham 65 - West Ham United 64 - West Bromwich Albion 62 - Aston Villa 62 - Sunderland 61 - Tottenham Hotspur 60 - Norwich City 59 - Queens Park Rangers 59 - Stoke City 56 - Manchester United 55 - Swansea City 54 - Manchester City 51 - Southampton 49 - Arsenal Quite a good read on playing styles, long-ball and passing football: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2211864/West-Ham-play-like-Real-Madrid-Barcelona--Neil-Ashton.html Try and read it if you can. Do any of those stats surprise you? Are you satisfied with our style, or should we become more 'direct'? We seemed to at the back end of last season at times. Do you believe in such a thing as passing or long ball football? Or is there just winning football?
  5. Well I must say, that suggestion is awful.

  19. Are you suggesting that it is reasonable that, because some think he had a bad game, than he received abuse wishing him to have died of cancer? He didn't complain due about comments made due to a perceived poor performance, rather over some particularly vile and repulsive comments. Strange, strange individual.
  20. Stephens and Chambers. Apparently they called for Shaw and Ward-Prowse but we refused as we have no obligation to release players outside of an international break.
  21. As I said, Polish mate is a Saints fan and well into his Polish football. When I said I'd seen us linked to Boruc he said "**** off, no way would he join Saints - if we get him, we are once again batting above our average with the signings"
  22. Seems very popular there... http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=402&fid=17&sty=2&act=1&mid=2114131470 Listed by many as Curle's best, or 2nd best signing. One comment: "Bialkowski for me. A great meadow lane goalkeeping legend in the making methinks..(Probably)"
  23. http://eurosport.onet.pl/pilka-nozna/liga-angielska/artur-boruc-laczony-z-southampton-fc,1,5254046,wiadomosc.html Polish media news said that Artur Boruc will go to the Premier League club. But not to Everton, where the previous Sunday he had to pass the test, but the weakest English league club - Southampton FC. For now, however, this is wishful rumor. Portal Polish goalkeeper bleacherraport.com lists as one of the six options to strengthen the Saints team free players, which you can hire at any time outside the transfer window. The list of potential acquisitions, which could take from Southampton just opened but another goalie, 29-year-old Scot Craig Gordon, who left Sunderland in the summer. Boruc would be - the Americans - the second choice of the Saints. For if, as reported on Monday, "Daily Mail", a Pole tested Everton, then why not use it now being in big trouble with the cast of the club from the south gate of England. Southampton goalkeeper, Kelvin Davis, let go after as many as 14 goals in the first four matches of the season 2012-13. About the transition of our 32-year-old goalkeeper at Goodison Park is now, as you can see, out of date, but Tuesday's "Sports Review" insisted that Boruc had on the coaching staff, "The Toffees" paramount impression and just see how signed contract. Now Boruc Try to St. Mary's Stadium, but do not know if he knows that the person concerned. No English source, including the outgoing local newspaper in Southampton "Soutern Daily Echo" transfer Pole not even mention the word. But hypothetically speaking, having a card in your hand and looking for a club in England, "Arci" can anchor in Southampton, where, of course, will not happen before the release managerNigel Adkins. This is no substitute for either Harry Redknapp or Rafa Benitez, as speculated, "Daily Star". And they still may have a completely different concept of solution to the problem bramkarskiego. But Wait, what the nearest fifth Premier League round. Saints take on Aston Villa on Saturday and Adkins struggling to maintain jobs.
  24. Lawro: Southampton v Aston Villa Southampton got a battering from Arsenal last week and are bottom of the table without a point but, as with Stoke, you have to remember who they have played this season, and Saints have already faced both Manchester clubs this season. The difference between the two clubs is that Stoke chairman Peter Coates has been around football for a long time and he knows that, win or lose, you don't get carried away. I am not sure you can say the same thing about Nicola Cortese, his counterpart at St Mary's. Saints boss Nigel Adkins is a good manager and has not suddenly become a bad one but he seems to be under pressure and he really needs a win. To get one on Saturday would be a massive result for Adkins and would stop the murmurings about his future. We are hearing rumours about Rafa Benitez and Harry Redknapp being lined up to take over and the papers will not stop talking about Adkins being on his way out while Saints are struggling. I have a feeling they might get a positive result against Villa, though. Paul Lambert has a lot of young players in his team and that means they will be up and down. Lambert has had a difficult start as Villa boss but I think his side's fans know he has inherited a bit of a mess and he will not get any problems from them. For Villa, going forward, the partnership up front between Darren Bent and Christian Benteke holds the key. It looks promising and if they hit it off then it will buy the young players in their team some time. That's what Villa need. Prediction: 2-1
