No amount of trying to rationalise Stewart’s injuries and the amount of money paid for anyone will change the fact that Mara has been a very poor signing, who rather than showing promise in the Premier League is doing almost nothing in the Championship. "Good back up," just means he isn’t really good enough to play for us but the damage will be limited if he’s used in small doses.

I prefer a straight jacket, electric shocks and a large, butch matron when I go a bit loopy.
-
He hasn’t though. His only two league goals this season have come in injury time of games when we were already 3-0 up at home. I never thought I’d be accusing a striker of scoring ‘pointless’ goals but that’s pretty much what they are, the opponents had already checked out and were mentally on the coach home.

I can’t say that this bothers me particularly. It would if we were in a situation where we were badly lacking talent in certain areas and couldn’t afford to recruit, but that’s not the case. You said yourself elsewhere that you wouldn’t be bothered if we signed nobody this window, so I don’t think that’s an issue. The one problem with our squad has been a forward in the #9 mould but we did spend the money there, just on the wrong player.

Still missing the point I think. I’m not saying Ukraine surrender everything up to that line and stops fighting. Essentially there would be no change in the current war other than a hard line Russia cannot cross, with either men or missiles, well behind the front line.
-
WTF, he needs to learn to pray to something sensible. Like a semi-naked dead Jew, nailed to a piece of wood.
-
Just to be clear, I wasn’t talking about actually cutting Ukraine in half, this would be a theoretical NATO border. What it would mean in real world terms is that Russia, even if they did have some massive, crushing victory in the east, couldn’t advance any further beyond that line, without triggering a war with NATO. It would ensure Ukraine’s security, including the ability to better protect their civilian areas from aerial assault. It may also cause Russian high command to lose enthusiasm as they would effectively have nothing to fight for.

I heard he was going to Norwich on a free. Apparently Levy phoned up Delia and said, “I want to give you doggy,” and she misunderstood.
-
Just thinking out loud, I wonder if Ukraine could join NATO with some sort of artificial border across the country. For example a line running to the East of Kharkhiv, Dnipro and Odesa, to the west of which is considered NATO territory and all the connotations which come with it, whilst the war is in progress. NATO troops and equipment could be stationed in western Ukraine with the ultimatum that any Russian aggression in this zone will be treated as an attack on NATO territory.

There is no quantity or pungency of shite that could ever be written that I would struggle to believe was on Twitter. It’s the unfiltered cranial diarrhoea of literally every human being on Earth, and many of them are absolute whack jobs.

I guess it’s possible Stu is off, given his contract situation. Seems somewhat unnecessary if not, with our wage bill already being so high.
-
Okay, a few things are starting to make sense.

So the playoff finalists were 9th and 15th, the latter being below relegated Reading.

What’s the most visits a team has made to St Mary’s without ever winning a game? That was Wednesday’s eight unsuccessful visit in all comps, they last won here at the Dell in 1997.

Ipswich remind me of Brighton in League 1 and Reading in the Champ, last time we came up. More consistently a goal or two better than everyone they play, which gives them the points in the table. Head to head over 90 minutes though, most neutrals would be betting on Saints.

Cracking performance from front to back, from start to finish. Cant argue with any of that. Ever since Sully got injured we’ve been a level above anything previous, IMO. I’m not saying it’s all his fault but we’ve looked better going forward with Edozie and now Fraser. Really starting to chew through the GD of teams around us as well.

What he said. We don’t need a new thread every time you post on your blog about some random player and we’re getting a bit bored with having to move these posts every day.
-
So did Leandre Griffit and he went on to do absolutely f**k all anywhere in his whole career.
-
Not seen enough of either of them to really comment but it would be a shame not to have Ellis back. I wonder if this was Nathan’s decision or ours.
-
I've no idea why you'd choose to add your only three posts for four months to a thread you apparently have no interest in. I personally find the CoT the most inane thing on t'internet but it seems to have a certain tongue in cheek appeal to a fair few main board posters, so we haven't moved it to TMS, which is largely empty and just used for storing emergency dining chairs.

McDermott hits 95n/o off Hobart’s 165 to rescue an innings that was 36-5. Does anyone know if he (and Ellis) are back for this years Blast?

‘Sh*tbag’ is probably a bit much but I did start rosining the bow on my world’s smallest violin when he said, "I’ve seen us win a few FA Cups AND THATS IT!"

You can’t just hang on to every young player until they’re 25 because they might turn out to be decent. We’ve been here before with so many players. Sims, Gallagher, Juanmi, Mayuka, Gaston, O’Bafemi, N’Lundulu, Hesketh…. The fact that Mara has dropped down a league and still isn’t doing it is enough for me. He’s had 18 months to at least start to show something and he just isn’t.

We had a couple when I was a kid. We lived in the countryside and never had a problem with vermin until we bought those little buggers. One would go out into the field across the road, catch mice, bring them home, then get bored with them and let them go. Usually they were badly chewed up and would scuttle under some furniture and die. The flies and the smell were normally the give away that it’d happened again. The occasional sparrows flying around the living room where somewhat more obvious.
