How and why have you decided which bits of our play are 'the way he wants us to play' and which bits aren't? You do realise that the whole, "obsessed with possession, I don't care if we lose as long as it's over 70%, only allowed to pass backwards and sideways," thing is only an internet meme? We play a largely passing game but we've scored plenty of goals direct and/or on the counter. On Tuesday we played it long down the right for Armstrong to run onto several times and put some long balls in to TP, everyone just pretended it never happened.

We didn’t ‘deserve’ nothing from how we played at Newcastle, Utd, Leicester, Arsenal and City but that’s exactly what we got. That’s football, I’ll take a less than glorious 1-0 win any day.

Great to get that monkey off our back. Hopefully we can build a little bit of momentum and belief from back to back wins and get a result at Wolves.

Why are you making a nonsense comparison between the engine in an ICE and the battery in an EV? I might as well point out that the tyres in an ICE need replacing more often than the seat covers in an EV. Petrol must be replaced every week. 120k miles at 50mpg average is 2,400 gallons of petrol over the life of that car.

You say all that whilst completely ignoring how often you have to replace the petrol in your car and all the associated impacts of mining crude oil. Nobody said lithium is clean and easy to mine, that’s why we’re trying to move away from it, but it’s nowhere near as bad as petrol/diesel.

Still a heck of a lot better though, isn’t it. If they can crack salt water battery technology, which is being researched furiously around the world you won’t really have a leg to stand on, the ICE will just disappear.

How often do you have to replace the battery in an electric car compared to say, replacing the crude oil that powers a petrol/diesel car?

You should try looking into what tiny, insignificant China is actually doing with renewable energy and electric cars. They’re going to absolutely leave the west behind over the next couple of decades.

BBD was a consistent goal scorer in the Championship. Armstrong was a consistent goal scorer in the Championship. Archer scored 4 goals in 29 games last season, he’s halfway there after 9 games. Onuachu has never scored in the Premier League. I cannot for the life of me understand why people are so determined to pretend this isn’t a thing. There is a reason Real Madrid never signed Rasiak, Akinbiyi, Altidore and Rob Earnshaw, even though they have all, "done it consistently."

All of which is lovely but I was responding to a post saying this is the worst, most boring Saints team they’ve ever seen and we aren’t even trying to win or score goals. The PL being harder to score in is hardly a revelation but it’s a very strange twist of logic to suggest we don’t actually want to.

Third top scorers in the Championship last season, 87 really boring goals, 2 behind Champions Leicester and 17 more than WBA in fifth. Obviously we’re struggling to transfer that into the PL but it’s not through lack of trying.

Agree, there has been much worse football on display than this in the past. If anything the current season reminds me of Poortvliet’s tenure, trying to play decent and entertaining football but we just don’t have very good players. Worse recent eras than this include MoPe, Jones, Selles and Puel, post cup final, IMO.

Well it’s at home at least, should be a decent atmosphere.

SAA didn’t look ready at Championship level, we need players who can do a job now, in the PL. That’s not Cornet on recent showing but I’d rather have him in the squad than Sam.

Watched their game against Fulham and they were absolute garbage, so fingers crossed for more of the same.

Villa and Chelsea going out is a nice plus. Assume City will turn this around at some point but it’d be a nice bonus to see them go out too.

We did go direct, playing it into the box for him a couple of times. They weren’t quite direct from Ramsdale’s boot and they resulted in a foul on their keeper and then a throw in to Stoke but baby steps and all that.

All seems sensible so far, hopefully it doesn’t affect the drop in inflation too badly.
