Undoubtedly there are better players who would have been more useful to Saints but I'd strongly disagree that we got mugged off for £25m. I think Larios and Edozie were more of a punt along the Mayuka line of thinking. There's an outside chance they might come good and if they don't we'll make our money back and go again.
-
That's not a particularly large amount these days though, infact for three players I'd say it was dirt cheap. I'm fairly sure we could make our money back on them if it came to it. The injuries to Larios complicate things but if SAA is a £10m player then so are Baz and Edozie.

I went to make a sandwich at 93/3. 😂

Not in the grand scheme of things. It’ll have been forgotten by the rest of the footballing world in a couple of weeks, but if you’re on the wrong end of an 11-0, that sticks to you for decades.

I can’t see what could possibly be fun about it. The one bit of dignity we’ve got left to lose this season is that we haven’t been on the end of any embarrassing score lines. You get a dozen or so 5-0s in every league, every season but if we start messing about with the team we could be on the wrong end of double figures.

You’re asking other people to explain and give solutions to a problem which is entirely of their own making. If you choose to take hormone replacements and any other treatments which alter your appearance to the point that you’re no longer recognisable as a woman, you have to live with the consequences of that, not ask society to make special rules which don’t really work, in order to accommodate you. It’s like when people get tattoos covering their neck and face, then say they struggle to find employment and are discriminated against. Well… yeah.

As much of the off topic stuff as I can be arsed to shovel is now here

Furthermore it’s stuff like this which fuels the appeal of the far right. People say why Trump, why Tate, why Robinson? Etc. the more mainstream and widespread things like gender identities, the more disillusioned people will be driven into their arms as the supposedly sane option. The right love stuff like this, it makes liberals look like unhinged weirdos.
-
Cant be arsed checking who we’ve got, I assume it’s an away game. Anyway, carry on COYS etc.

In order to call someone ‘transphobic’ you have to first be able to define being ‘transgender’. In order to be ‘transgender’ you first have to be able to define ‘gender’. Since nobody seems able to do that the whole thing is one great big word salad anyway.

Why though? They’re playing at a level which is much more on par with their abilities. As I asked earlier in the thread, who do you think we’re going to bring in who is certain to outscore them and also affordable. The Championship’s top scorers at the moment are Sainz, who won’t be coming here, and Piroe, who really hasn’t done anything in the last two years to make me upset that he chose Leeds over us.
-
Maybe but then Lambert, Sharp, Guly and Connolly can’t have been much shy of that under Adkins. Had Sharp been here the full season, he and Lambert could have netted about 45 between the pair of them.
-
No, I think those three players alone could score 60 goals combined, if we play to their strengths and they stay fit.
-
BBD and Archer are more than capable of replicating the 16 goals Che Adams scored two years ago, when by all accounts our problem was keeping goals out, not putting them in. Looking at the players we’re most likely to left with come summer, my first priorities would be upgrading on Bree and Manning as first choice FBs. Then I’d like better creative players than Fraser and Edozie. I’d much rather spend more on four quality player in those positions than the scatter gun, safety in numbers, approach of last summer.

I’d say it was like 90:10 the French league being much worse than the PL. Just look at José Fonte, who looked finished at this level playing for West Ham, then went on to have years of success at Lille. As poorly managed as we’ve been, none of those players were PL material. If they were then other PL teams would have snapped them up when we went down. Just look at AMN - not even our player, Arsenal just didn’t rate him at all. He was basically the Maxwel Cornet of two years ago.
-
Great, now you’ve made me remember Salisu exists. I hope you’re happy now. 🙄
-
Tessem’s goal against Sunderland is literally the only one I can remember from a Delap throw. He clearly altered his technique a bit up in Staffordshire.
-
Bad light stops play, so that should be it. I don’t think we were ever chasing down that total but that’s a phenomenal effort from Gubbins, Albert and Prest today to but out the unlikeliest of draws.
-
I doubt anyone was looking at the team I posted and thinking it really needs Rothwell, Fraser or Adams to make it better. Stu and KWP were decent, Brooks was here half a season and was in and out of the team. The point is that the team I posted would be reasonably competitive. We’d need half a dozen decent signings to be in the hunt for automatic promotion but we’re a lot closer to that than we are to plummeting down to League 1.
-
There isn’t one. He has clearly been mooted as a likely candidate and is therefore being discussed quite a lot but nobody is ‘obsessed’ with him.
-
I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t be happy with winning promotion at Wembley. The feeling didn’t last long when we started signing players but still, that was a good time to be a Saints fan. Before that, 3rd October 2009 (I don’t know why that date sticks in my mind) until summer 2016 was all pretty awesome.
-
Having checked, in his most recent three Championship seasons he has scored 16, 28 and 21 respectively. That’s an average of 22 a season, which I’ll take any day. If you can suggest some players who have consistently scored at a better rate, who would be affordable and willing to come here I’d be interested to hear their names. As for his mental state, he was our top scorer last time off the back of scoring twice in two consecutive PL seasons. That didn’t seem to affect his performance in the Championship and I see no reason why this time would be different. We all want to get back to the PL and stay there but we’ve got to get promoted first. By all means bin him off next summer if we do but next season I think it’d be foolish not to want him in the squad.
-
If that’s the case, we can look forward to some pretty decent fees, so happy days.
-
Let’s sack off a solid 20 goal a season Championship player because he hasn’t been great for a third of a season at West Brom. A bit weird from a bloke who raves about Dyche, despite an awful half season at Everton.
-
It’s interesting because yesterday I posted the team that basically, "got promoted in spite of Russell Martin," minus KWP and with BBD up top instead of Adams. The majority of people said I was taking the p*ss saying it was decent and that it’d be lucky to finish top half. I knew KWP was a good RB but I didn’t realise he was THE difference between a bottom half Championship team and one which couldn’t fail to be promoted.
