Romeo Lavia - Official: Signs for Not Liverpool
Lighthouse replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
If you'd told me in May that the best part of this transfer window would be selling our best player to Liverpool/Chelsea I'd have told you to p*ss off, but f*ck me this is funny. -
Good luck to him, it was always massively unlikely he’d stay and a lower mid-table team like West Ham is probably a good level for him. I just hope Hammers fans don’t expect him to be anywhere near as good as Rice, because they’ll turn on him very quickly if they do.

The woman on a video call in the viagra advert, with her husband vacuuming. Don’t know why, she just annoys me.
-
I went along it was decent and a close contest, which came down to fine margins. Budinger and Ackermann were both dropped in the field, a pair of absolute howlers my gran could have caught too. The latter was on about 10 at the time and went on to make nearly a ton not out, which basically won them the game. It did look to be going to the wire with about 10 overs to go, then Currie got whacked for 20 off an over and that was basically it.

You’re all wasting your time engaging with this textbook, conspiracy theorist drivel. Imagine being so dense that you can’t understand how people can need to drive to work AND have concerns about the environment.
-
Because they may well be better than the players we already have. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea we have money to burn from, either.
-
A decent game today between the two top sides, a little disappointed not to have posted a higher score from 150/1 at one point. Sill, we had a better day than Worcs, 108ao, and Somerset, who got walloped for 454.
-
Yes he does, that’s the point. A keepers distribution will directly affect the amount of pressure the defence is placed under. If Bazunu is neat, tidy and generally plays the ball into feet in positions where our defence and midfield can take it forward, that’s an important part of how we play. There’s no point having a keeper heroically throwing himself in front of 20 shots a game, if he’s then spooning it out to the opposition inside our own half.
-
So you’d literally rather have a keeper who concedes more goals, so long as their save percentage is better.
-
A keeper with worse distribution might have conceded 7 out of 12 shots on target this season, so he’d be better because that’s only 58%?
-
You can take the boy out of Spurs...
-
It’s less than ten seconds and most clubs play something after a goal. There’s plenty of time to celebrate and make some noise, unfortunately most of it is garbage about Pompey being sung at 90mph.
-
Christ, do you rate Bazunu or not? Make your mind up.
-
Also, thumbs up to whoever decided to play Zombie Nation after a goal. Great shout.
-
Well, I’m fairly sure we’ve never seen back to back 4-4 draws at St Mary’s before. Clearly this whole team was compromised by what I hope will be the weakest central midfield we put out this season. Stu was clearly just a stop gap and we never really controlled the game. TBH it felt like musical chairs, where both teams would just keep randomly chipping in with goals, until FT, with no clear idea as to who’d win. Could have been any score you like. Can’t say I was particularly impressed with Alcaraz, Tella, AA or Adams if I’m honest. SAA and Charles both looked like exciting prospects though, looking forward to more of them.

Craziest thing you did or wore at a football match?

I went on a machete wielding killing spree away at Rochdale in 2011. It was hilarious, although I guess you had to be there. -
A much better game from young Jack. He wasn’t even born last time saints got relegated.
-
111-7, we're going to do this comfortably.
-
From 60 odd for 4, we seem to have rescued a score we now look likely to defend. Notts needing over 7.5 in their last 20, with 5 down, obviously a bowlers wicket.
-
You can’t just pretend they’re not strikers or not pay them, just because you don’t like them. If you’re going to argue the first four are the only strikers, then it’s four fighting for just one spot in the team, if Friday was anything to go by. However you spin it, a significant chunk of forward players will have to leave before we can really bring more in.
-
So we shouldn’t play the ball into space, because spaces don’t score goals?
-
Because our squad and wage bill are still too big to the tune of about five players, which is also top heavy with forwards. Attacking-wise we have AA, Mara, Paul, Adams, Djenny, Stu, Edozie, SAA, Tella, Aribo, Sully and Alcaraz. I make that 12 players fighting over 4 positions.
-
Agree, to me they look like, “if we go down, let’s come straight back up again,” transfers, more than anything else. None of them screams ‘PL player’.
-
I can’t see him being anything other than on the bench in any case. It’ll almost certainly be Charles and Smallbone on Saturday, I’d have thought.
-
None of that makes any sense. As Tella has shown, you can absolutely smash the Championship and few teams will have any interest in paying anything North of £20m for you. Then there’s the fact that all the top talent, like Lavia and ABK, isn’t going to want to play Championship football at all, when they can ply their trade at any number of bottom half Prem teams and get much more interest from higher up. Finally the idea that we’re selling to a bigger market down here is absurd, we could just as easily sell players to Everton or Spurs in the Premier League, if we were so inclined.
