Christ alive, they’re protesting a war between two countries nothing to do with Britain or its veterans that were not even involved in. It’s quite clearly not appropriate, I’ve no idea why anyone is even trying to argue this point. Those soldiers being commemorated were liberal, conservative, men, women, gay, straight, Sikh, Hindu, Muslim, atheist, black white etc. They all died protecting this country and its citizens regardless of their background or political persuasions. I’ve no idea how this has become a political point at all, I can’t see it as anything other than grossly disrespectful. It’s about as decent and appropriate as me turning up to your mum’s funeral, shouting, “oi everyone, my grandma died last week,” and saying it’s appropriate because we’ve both lost women in our families.
