Since we signed Bazunu he’s won more league games against Chelsea than McCarthy has won at St Mary’s.
-
There’re like 20 out of the 22 other clubs in this league who’d take that over what they have. Would you swap JWP and Jander for Smallbone and Aribo, because that’s what we got promoted with last time?
-
I know I’m in a minority here but I wish him all the best at Bolton. Clearly thrown in at the deep end and is not a PL player but he was the man between the sticks for the longest unbeaten run in a century and played the lions share of our promotion season, so fair play to him for that. I don’t think the continuous turnover in players, managers, leagues and two pretty serious injuries has done his form or confidence by good. Since his debut in 2022 to his return against Wrexham three years later, Jack Stephens was the only other player still at the club. Hopefully he has a couple of settled seasons up at Bolton and rediscovers his rhythm.

No, we will sign a reserve keeper and replacement for THB.

Stephens for Wood but otherwise surely this has to be the team.
-
Hardly, he’s not good enough to be starting PL games and his wages are too high for a back up keeper, or any team in the Championship. It’s difficult to see where he goes really. It’ll probably end up being another late loan.

Can't see any reason not to be happy with this, I doubt most Championship clubs would be able to pull off a signing of his pedigree, so fair play to Spors for that. Hopefully this means we'll see a bit less of Stephens and a lot less of Wood this season, perhaps starting with our game on Saturday.

I think I heard someone say he had a stick with a horses head handle, but I may have misheard the name.

Worth bringing back just for our trip to Molineux.

JWP chat moved to the JWP thread

Calling him a crab is such a lazy insult. Truth is he’s played a variety of different roles in midfield since making his debut and he covers a lot of ground during a game. If the manager tells him to sit deep and pass it around, he’ll do it. If the manager tells him to get forward into the box, he’ll do that too. One thing that has been consistent is that every manager we’ve had from Adkins to Martin has played him regularly and not wanted to offload him. I doubt Tonda would be any different, as he has a fairly decent haircut.

I’ve been told we’re re-signing Chris Perry to play along side him.
-
For a man who thought 34 year old, six months retired Romeu should go straight into our team and would be our fittest player, you’re sure going all in against JWP. I don’t think we’re going to be signing anyone with a better CV than 400 PL apps. 11 England caps and still only 31 years old.

Funnily enough I’m sat watching The Expendables right now. Let’s just say you get what it says on the tin, nothing more, nothing less. Also - Super Troopers and Dude, Where’s my Car?
-
I wouldn’t say that’s essential for a CM pairing. Neither Morgan nor Wanyama were particularly fast but they were the best pair we’ve had playing there in my lifetime. JWP covers a lot of ground and is generally very reliable when it comes to fitness. I’d certainly have him back on loan, especially if it ,want we’d have a bit more money free to replace THB.
-
Stephens, for all his faults, isn’t a player I associate with getting bullied. If anything he is more prone to losing his discipline, like he did with Cucurella, and just generally having terrible brain farts
-
Yes, I did read it. You said we wouldn’t be relying on Stephens and Wood, which means somebody will be replacing THB as most people would have assumed. The fact that we’re after this German fella implies that one of the other three is also likely to be off, most likely JQ who doesn’t seem to be in Tonda’s plans, even for cup games.
-
I think most of us had figured out that we weren’t just going to sell THB and rely on the three that were left but tell your mate thanks anyway.
-
I don’t think you can accuse Solak of that, when we announced we were sticking with Tonda it raised more eyebrows than a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. It was certainly a brave decision, which caught me by surprise. I thought he had to go and TBH I’m still not entirely convinced keeping him was the right decision. Maybe with two or three signings in key areas we will be rejuvenated and start looking like we did last year but right now it’s all a bit Will Still.
-
Incidentally this fixture was the last league game in which Wood started and we kept a clean sheet, back in January, so there’s that.
-
We've just signed three strikers, we're not getting two more. Maybe one if DD, BBD and Archer all leave but even then it wouldn't be a given. I'd reasonably expect a CM, CB (two if JQ leaves), a backup goalkeeper and not much more else.
-
I think I'll just file this under 'glad I was working this evening' and leave it at that.

The Inbetweeners 2 was utterly abysmal, couldn’t get through it.
