  1. Don't see why, he's had a day longer since his last game than everyone else.
  2. Based on that I'd hope we bring in Bertrand, Yoshi, Hoj and Gallagher for Targett, Stephens, Slattery and Ings. He wont, it'll likely be just Hoj and Long coming in but that's what I'd do.
  3. Alisson - £67m Virgil - £75m Lovren - £20m - About £40m in today's money Henderson - £20m - About £50m in today's money Keita - £59m Sturridge - £12m - About £30m in today's money Mané - £36m - About £50m in today's money Origi - £10m - About £20m in today's money Shaqiri - £14m release fee Lallana - £26m - About £52m in today's money Firmino - £30m - About £50m in today's money Fabinho - £39m Wijnaldum - £25m - About £40m in today's money AOC - £35m - About £40m in today's money Salah - £40m - About £45m in today's money Adjusted for the inflation of the recent TV deals, I make that £671m spent on those players I can be arsed to check. And they have the nerve to say City are buying the title.
  4. I don’t want to see some giant, corporate, global brand buying the Premier League. In fact, there’s only one thing worse I can think of; a giant, corporate, global brand winning the Premier League and thinking they’re special, it’s good for football because of their great history, it’s where they deserve to be and everyone else should be pleased because they’re a ‘proper club’ with ‘proper fans’. Actually two things, Pompey is the other.
  5. He isn’t, Targett has looked poor in a lot of games. Was very disappointed in what I saw against West Ham and Palace.
  6. The body has been recovered, I'm guessing the identity will probably be revealed tomorrow.
  7. A decent preseason would help get an unfit player fit but there's a difference between being unfit and injury prone; Ings is the latter. All preseason is to him is another chance to get injured. I look forward to being told he has picked up a knock in a friendly against Real Sociedad and will miss the opening game of the season, only for that to mysteriously drag out until late September with little explanation given. Cynical, me?!
  8. I'd disagree, that's 2 unproven players and one who is regularly injured. I'd be happy with that but someone stronger in place of Gallagher.
  9. So would I but sadly we are.
  10. He was good but no Nicholas Bignall.
  11. I'd be astonished if either occupant survived the impact. I'd certainly hope that's the case. From the underwater photo it looks as if the top of the fuselage is severely buckled behind the wings. That could indicated the aircraft hit the water at a relatively straight and level attitude with a high rate of descent, much like AF447. That could indicate a shall, which could have been caused by wing icing. Just a theory based on pretty basic physics.
  12. If your son ever asks why he should do his homework and stay in school, show him those photos. If your daughter asks the same question, show her the same photos.
  13. Well, at least we agree on something.
  14. I’ve already said I agree with that bit. The shirt pull is a foul and it should have been a free kick to us but it comes back to the old cliche of playing to the whistle. Shirts get pulled at every set piece and players know it goes unpunished 90% of the time. Until we get VAR we just have to accept that.
  15. I could buy that if he actually looked like he was flinging his arms up to gain momentum but he wasn’t, he just had his arm up like some crap Freddy Mercury impression. I guess everyone sees things differently, I’ll stick with what I (and England’s 2 greatest ever strikers) saw.
  16. Perhaps you could go and patronise Jenas, Linekar and Shearer who've obviously never played either. I however am familiar with the concept of jumping, it doesn't involve waving your arm above your head, even if your shirt is being pulled back. There was no downward movement at all, as there is in figure E of Shurlock's diagram.
  17. Fair enough, first time I've seen him linked (although that is the Irish Mirror). I thought that story came about from Ranieri saying they looked at getting Clasie in instead.
  18. Yes it was, for Leicester. At no point were we rumoured to be in for Kante.
  19. I have absolutely no idea what was going through his head. Just like when he went he went in for that lunge on Townsend in midweek, on the halfway line when there was absolutely no danger. Or a whole bunch of other moments where he just seemed to switch off completely. Ander Herrera's goal for Utd being one. I first noticed it for Zlatan's winner in the EFL and he hasn't really cut it out his game.
  20. Except Stephens had his arm straight up in the air the whole time. It's just been on again on the MotD replay, his arm is directly above his head the whole time. If we didn't get that at St Marys this whole board would be fuming. Absolutely agree... if the ref sees it. You can't go committing fouls in your own penalty box with 30 seconds of injury time left, on the assumption that the ref will see a shirt pull, which is hardly ever given. The ref wouldn't have seen the pull anyway from the angle he is at.
  21. I genuinely can't tell if this is a wind up. You're both absolutely fine with the idea that defenders should jump for a cross with their arm above their head, on the basis if he wasn't fouled his arm would have been ABOVE the ball and therefore wouldn't have hit? If that's the case then Cardiff should just stick in a bunch of crosses which are 6 inches too high. Then they will go over everyone's head but one of our defenders will punch the ball. I can see the argument that a shirt pull is a foul but for the life of me I can't even begin to comprehend what JS may have been thinking. Until VAR gets brought in, shirt pulling will remain. It's too widespread and refs know that if they see one they will miss about 30 in every game and get slated for being biased and inconsistent; so it's safer just to bottle all of them.
  22. Watching MOTD, both stonewall penalties. Not sure how Stephens’ arm being vertically up in the air is the result of a shirt pull. Need VAR ASAP.
  23. I want to watch good football, played the right way, like we had up until summer 2016. I don’t care if we’re 10th, 8th, 6th or whatever, I just want to be entertained. I like seeing young players develop but only if they’re good enough. As for Stephens, I’m not quick to turn on him. In fact I have consistently thought he wasn’t a Premier League player since he played under Puel. I’ve no idea how he gets off so much lighter than Hoedt if I’m honest.
  24. Fulham are irrelevant, they are hopeless defensively and won’t be making up 7 points on the rest of the pack. They concede 2 in every game and are nothing special going forward.
  25. Stephens isn't a scapegoat but he is a f**king idiot. Every game he seems to do something ridiculous and drop us in it.
