  1. 1. Despite being the most technically gifted player he is well behind both of those 'mediocre' players in terms of goals and assists since he joined. 2. He has made 30 appearances this season, JWP has 33, Redmond 36. 30 is more than half of either of those numbers. 3. He's had 2 years and shown no improvement whatsoever. 4. The race card? Yawn. 5. You're actually comparing him to Le Tiss?
  2. Yes but we signed him, which was the question posted in the OP.
  3. Lambert was hardly being savy, he was the leagues top scorer when we signed him and was easily good enough to play in the Championship. It's all well and good saying sign the best talent from the lower leagues but Huddersfield and Brighton had a lot of it 2 seasons ago and they've been mediocre at best in the Premier League. We had the Championships 2 best strikers in Lambert and J Rod, plus the best midfielder in Lallana, 2 of the best defenders in Hooiveld and Fonte, plus Kelvin from the Championship team of the year. Despite all of that we'd have gone down without signing Boruc, Davis, Gaston and Yoshida.
  4. That's some bang average use of the English language there, need to work on that.
  5. One of those where you're not really sure who you feel sorry for.
  6. Hughes reminds me a bit of Pearson, taking over from Dodd and Gorman in 2008. Whilst his results were nothing incredible (I think we were something like 13th in the form table during Pearson's tenure) there was a marked difference in attitude, organisation and application compared to the previous regime. Getting any sort of result or performance from a team as hopeless as we were, without any time or money, takes character.
  7. Everton are no better than us at hanging on to their star players when big clubs come calling, nor do they get better prices. Of course we say they aren't for sale. Chapter 1, page 1 of selling anything for a good price - "It's not for sale"
  8. If we got £60m from Virgil, after Celtic's cut, and spent £19m on Carrillo, you'd have to start asking questions if there was no money available.
  9. As opposed to Les getting mugged off by only accepting a world record fee for a defender.
  10. Which doesn’t nescesarilly mean he won’t get the job. It’s like buying a house, you may have a preferred choice but you still look at what else is on the market.
  11. If you're talking about myths then you've just invented the biggest of the lot. There are literally pages of threads with many people criticising Hoedt.
  12. As if players give the tiniest sh*t about supporters when deciding to move clubs.
  13. Good, could do with coming down a peg or two. I was particularly annoyed by him shouting in MoPe's face after he scored against West Brom. He'd done f**k all for a year prior to that and was acting like it was some sort of crime he wasn't starting.
  14. Boruc is 38. If we're going to sign a Polish 'keeper who's been here before, I'd try and get Bart from Ipswich, although I suspect he would prefer first team football. This McC story is an agent driven non-event. No doubt he wants an improved contract and this is a standard part of the negotiating process.
  15. I'd like to think the club doesn't budget on such principals. It all sounds a bit Leeds Utd, planning on high league positions to balance the books. Hopefully we're budgeting on a midtable/bottom half finish and the last 4 top 8 finishes have been something of a bonus. I don't know what we'd have paid Puel and MoPe but that would also be offset by the £7m we got from Everton for Koeman.
  16. As much as I want Saints players to be represented, Bertrand really hasn't performed consistently well all season. No complaints from me, although no doubt this will further fuel the fire of his agent pushing for a move up the table.
  17. Can't believe you fell for such an obvious alpine troll post, he's only been doing it for about 10 years. BFS was never going to be kept on, Everton have delusions of grandeur well above their station. Their intermittent flirtations with relegation are far more recent than the trophies they won 35 years ago but they still think they should be challenging for titles. Next season is a battle for 6th IMO, possibly 5th if a few important people leave Spurs. Arsenal are in a transitional period and have to be the target for about 10 teams in this league.
  18. IMO he is neither.
  19. Edit: Nevermind, it's been said already.
  20. Agree largely with that, look at how massively we improved the summer we signed Wanyama and Lovren. Putting Osvaldo aside, we moved from relegation fodder to a solid 8th by signing 2 players.
  21. Grey away kit for Man Utd, so at least that's 3 points on the board already. Never liked or understood putting collars and buttons on football shirts, personally.
  22. Stephens looks nothing like an England player and without significant improvement, never will be. Whilst I wouldn't blame the string of games conceding 3 on Stephens, he certainly played a part in all of that. There's a reason Stone is in the greatest squad in Premier League history, whilst Stephens is the 4th best defender at a club which narrowly avoided relegation and finished below Huddersfield.
  23. Quite a few Everton player would be there on paper, although they aren't much as a team. Pickford, Gylfi, Walcott, Tosun and Bolasie are all candidates.
