  1. Which would make him 4th or 5th most expensive over 30 of all time. You're in Zlatan and Makelele territory there, it's not happening. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/golden-oldies-10-most-expensive-6087114 Also, the same Bas Dost banging them in for Wolfsburg in the Champions League? Dream on.
  2. I'd say his Championship year and the first in the Premier League were his best. By which I mean, the highest level at which he was performing consistently. He had some decent games in our second season up but a fair few poor ones where he looked off the pace. I think most of us knew that was his last properly decent season and he pretty much proved that at Liverpool. Personally I'd rather sell players around the age of 32, when they're still consistent and worth a bit of money. For me that was the main lesson of 2003-05 when we got complacent in our defence, waiting until the likes of Dodd, Lundekvam and Le Saux were well past it before replacing them.
  3. Not now but for the right price at the end of the season, yes.

Well he definitely doesn't look like a complete weirdo, desperately seeking attention by posting stupid conspiracy theories on the internet.
  5. People always used the likes of Drogba, Sheringham and Pirlo as examples of players who can still perform in their mid thirties. They're still on the decline, the difference is they were world class to begin with. 34 year old Sheringham wasn't as good 29 year old Sheringham and it will be the same with Pelle. We were trying to replace Lambert within weeks of getting promoted, first with J Rod, then Osvaldo, then Pelle (who I think we'd have signed anyway even if SRL had stayed). If someone offered us £10m in summer I'd take the money and have £10m extra to spend on a replacement, which we'd need in 2 or 3 years anyway.
  6. I would say sell and reinvest. We'd get more money and wouldn't have to put up with many of the sub par performances we saw from Lambert in his final year with us.
  7. Because by then he will be 32 and on the decline.
  8. He is not a £50m player. He is good but not that good. To be a £50m player he would need to be as good as he is, 19 years old and English. As he is, I reckon we'll get £30m or so.
  9. £30m to replace a player who cost £8m? He's a good player on his day but I wouldn't really say he's improved here as such. He has probably got one more season in him (after this one) playing regularly at the highest level.
  10. Back in the days of the old forum some of our more boisterous members found a group called 'TSF Completes My Life'. Unfortunately it was nothing to do with The Saints Forum and was actually a group for members of an Evangelical Church in Manhattan called Temple of Saint Francis. As you can imagine, the conversations between Master Bates, Bad Boy Saint and a bunch of New York God botherers were quite interesting. Apparently they don't approve of Tubgirl over there. Who'd have thought.
  11. Well it's Premier League football, every single one of our players would leave if a big offer came in for them. It's pretty much like being destroyed if a bear sh*ts in the woods. £10m would make him one of the most expensive 31 year olds of all time, hardly daylight robbery.
  12. Hence we only got £4m for Lambert, which many people seemed outraged about at the time. I think he's scored about 3 goals in the 18 months since he left, including a penalty last week and a goal against some Bulgarian pub team. I reckon he's got one more season of decent football in him. I'd take £10m next summer and reinvest it in the next Mané, Lovren or VvD.
  13. For a 31 year old Pelle it's a fair price. We'd get the best years out of him and still make a profit, same as Lambert.
  14. Wouldn't sell him in January but would take £10m in summer.
  15. I'm completely with you on that, it would be fantastic if everyone stayed to the end, the whole ground sung their hearts out and made more noise than Partizan Belgrade playing Hajduk Split. However, that's just not going to happen. For many people watching Saints isn't a religion, it's just part of their social routine; along with playing squash and taking the kids to the park. You can't be angry at people for that.
  16. Well here to be honest, unless I've misunderstood. Feel free to point out the bit where someone said, "I don't care, atmosphere doesn't matter." Go on, please do.
  17. That's a moving speech but if you love Saints more than your family and prioritise it over your job then you're a bit mental.
  18. The most seats between aisles is I think 27 seats at the widest point. Even assuming you sit right next to the aisle and your entire row leaves early, that's only 13 people leaving past your seat. So what you're saying is you sit next to the aisle and pretty much the entire row leaves before the end. Assuming your row is typical of any other, the stadium is literally empty 5 minutes before full time. Also I don't get why standing up for 15 seconds causes such a loss of vision.
  19. I'll stick to singing along with Peter Andre's greatest hits album thanks.
  20. You mean when they walk in front of you to get to the aisle? Really Tim, that's like half a second of impeded viewing?! I've missed more of the game sneezing.
  21. Only if you happen to be sharing a ride with someone else. For your last question, lots of things to many people. Not everyone regards football as a religion, some people have long drives, families waiting to have dinner, work to do and various other commitments more important than the last 10 minutes of a football match.
  22. Don't have a problem with people wanting to leave early, especially if you're sat in the higher reaches of the stadium. I'm normally 4 or 5 rows from the back in the Northam and I tend to find myself sat in my seat until 10 minutes after f/t waiting just to be able to get to an aisle. Then when I get out it's a similar wait at that sodding railway bridge just to get onto the main road to the station. I reckon if you leave on 85 minutes, you'd get to the station half an hour earlier than if you waited till the end in one of the higher rows. If you're driving you can probably lose another 20 minutes sat in traffic too. Probably worth it for a lot of people, for the sake of 5 minutes plus injury time.
  23. Depends whether he would rather have self respect or a multi-million pound payoff for 6 months of work.
  24. Got to wonder how long Coutinho will stick around Anfield without Champs League football.
  25. I think you're underestimating Saints a little if you think we will struggle to get even a point. Arsenal haven't won here in their last 4 attempts. Spurs are definitely a bogey side but records are there to be broken. They lost every game here right up until our relegation. I'll take a punt at: Stoke - Win Man City - Loss Villa - Win Palace - Draw Spurs - Win Arsenal Draw
