In his natural position Long has never done anything other than score 6-8 goals a season. He played up front at Sheff Utd and we were awful.

He has a role to play next season but I don't think he is ready to replace Morgan as first choice just yet. It'll only take a few poor performances and people will be slating him like they are JWP. We need 2 CDM because that has been the basis of our brilliant defence, at least it was for the first 3/4 of the year. It's no wonder Lovren has struggled since his move to Liverpool with inferior players like Gerrard and Allen playing in front of him.

I think most of the intelligent debate was based around whether FF was an improvement on Boruc and worth spending £10m on. I personally think yes as there is a significant age gap between them. I'm not sure where the whole 'League 1 keeper' thing came from. Probably one trolling idiot like alpine said it and Turk's is doing his usual trick of purporting that it was a widely held belief. Why Kelvin was given a contract extension or Gazza signed at all I have absolutely no idea. Neither have shown anything close to Premier League ability at any point in their careers.

Not to mention the small matter of him wanting to leave and play first team football. Not sure how Cork would have made any difference today, he wasn't exactly known for high tempo build up play pulling defences apart. I guess it's just another example of the guy not playing being the answer. Like Morgan, despite the fact that he played against Stoke, West Brom, Liverpool and Sheff Utd. Last week the answer was to drop Yoshida and play Reed. We did that but did we play any better?
