I still don't get why Kelvin got a 3 year contract when he barely plays, is getting old and is a definite weakness when he does play. If we had replaced him with someone younger and better, with less fitness issues I doubt we'd have to play Gazza at all. As for Gazza himself, I'd say get rid of him in summer. I don't care if he is young any more, he has never looked close to being a Premier League 'keeper or like having the potential to become one.

Nonsense, in most cases you can make an offside call in 5 seconds from looking at a replay. It the video is inconclusive then you can't give offside and the goal should be allowed to stand. It's not complicated and yet the game is in such a state that tedious commentators like Robbie Savage have more information than the guy actually refereeing the game.

I'm all in favour of technology for stuff like this. We've already seen goals from Fonte and Gallagher given by the goal decision system this season even if the lino probably saw them go in anyway. Video replays can very easily and quickly be viewed without breaking up play. You can watch any game on Sky and see slo-mo replays from 4 different camera angles before play kicks off again anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong but it is largely the officials and their unions which have been opposing video replays, claiming it will undermine their authority. This seems completely illogical to me, the whole point of a video ref system would be to spot and correct their mistakes instantly so there are no consequences. If such a system had been used yesterday, the 2nd goal wouldn't have been given we'd have had a quick laugh about how the lino got it wrong and moved on. Instead we've got a situation where the game swung on a horrendous error and the lino's mistake decided the game and had a fairly significant impact on the title race. The logic seems to be that because the lino's decision stood, somehow the world will just forget about it and move on like it didn't happen.

Rudi Skacel subject of racist song by Leigh Griffiths
Lighthouse replied to KelvinsRightGlove's topic in General Sports
Seems an odd thing to chant at Skacel. I could see the logic if he was from Rwanda or Syria but I don't think we've had any Czech refugees since the Germans annexed the Sudetenland. A very loose application of the term 'racial abuse' but certainly unpleasant. -
I wonder who Maldonado has to kill before he loses his license. Complete Muppet.

Factor out Gazza and the lino, that was a very close game. Really not bothered about the result, that was always going to be a City game. Gutted for JRod though, knee ligaments will about 6 months out. Finger crossed for him.

Kevin Davies between Jones and Claus.

I'm amazed Leeds have been wallowing in Championship obscurity for this long. They've got a 39,000 seater stadium they could easily fill in the Premier League. Could be competing with the likes of Newcastle, Spurs, Saints and Everton given some decent investment.

What's with all these pictures of small boobs? I like a real girl with a proper pair of fun bags.

TMS needs more pictures of Moyra Stewart IMO.

This is just a cliche IMO, English players are just as prone to being expensive flops as foreigners. Look at Carroll, Adam and Downing at Liverpool. On the other hand we got Lovren for just £8m. I wouldn't call Gaston a flop yet, he's only 23 and has been looking quite good in recent performances and his assist for JRod on Saturday was sublime.

The blue stripes when Pompey got promoted in 2003 was my favourite. Seem to remember some people completely missing the joke and being furious.

1. Lallana 2. JRod 3. Morgan 4. Shaw 5. Lovren Lovren would probably have it on his pre-injury form but the competition is so high this season. Infact he would have won it last year playing like this.

He often is. After Melbourne he was interviewed on Sky demanding Kobayashi be banned for the accident, when it was in fact cased by a rear brakes failure.
-
Leave him alone, all he wants is for the entire forum to be about him all the time. Is that really too much to ask? I think Shaw probably will leave in summer. I wouldn't put money on it but if I had to make a guess either way, I would suggest Champions League (not at Utd obviously) and regular England football will turn his head.

Difficult to argue with this team although possibly Barry in for Sandro.
-
I wouldn't say he has done enough to warrant a place in the squad in spite of players doing more at club level. He has 8 goals, half of which came against Moldova and San Marino. Take a look at his goals this season. He has one against teams in the top half of the Prem all season, against Spurs. http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=48971

Yes but Welbeck plays for Man Utd, so obviously he is a much better player. I'm taking the p*ss but rather tragically I think most of the England management believe this. JRod has got to be on the plane IMO but he wont be. Let's just hope Welbeck gets injured.

I think we may have reached a point on TMS where we have discussed everything. We just got to talk about the gay night life in Milton Keynes and the best places to buy an inflatable Michael Parkinson and we will have covered everything. I think once we have concluded our discussions we should close down TMS and replace it with a shrine to our dear departed Corp Ho.

Saints 4-1 Carlisle - 2010 JPT Champions - Reaction
Lighthouse replied to Block 5's topic in Golden Posts
Indeed. I can understand people not liking our lack of stripes this year and the extortionate price but at least it looks professionally made. The shirt from that season looked like 2 mismatched kits sewn together around the shoulders and the big, plastic, stuck on label just looked terrible. Great memories of that day though. I can't think of another club in England which has had such a ballistic rise to success in 4 years. -
No, you're right. In my mind he skipped past a couple of defenders at the start of that move. Roses tinted glasses and all that. Yes, very similar goals.
-
As far as I can see, he didn't have to beat a single player other than the 'keeper. One guy chasing behind him, never put a challenge in. Right sided CB stood off him, completely static and didn't get within 3 yards. Left sided CB just fell over. Some decent skill dribbling at that pace but nothing out of this world. Not as good as Maradonna, Anders and Owen's similar goals.
