That was my immediate reaction too.

Perfect result for us. Bye bye 'arry!!! Wigan drop another 2 points behind us.
-
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Redknapp's face!!
-
Wow. Not a bad goal that.
-
Speak for yourself. I want Nigel's team to destroy Saggy Chops. Would be nice for old 'arry to have 'finished bottom with 2 different clubs' on his CV.
-
I think we can delete QPR and Reading from this thread. They will both have to win 5 games more than us to be any threat. To do that in 6 games would be quite something. We are about as close to Everton in 6th as we to Reading and QPR. Add Fulham, West Ham and Swansea fixtures to the list.
-
Being above Sunderland would only put you 18th. Safety would be Villa on 33.
-
If Wigan win they will be 10 points off safety with 18 to play for. So in 2 games time I think.
-
Harry must be delighted, that's his excuse for anything that happens sorted already.
-
Wigan have trips to Man City, West Ham, WBA and Arsenal. Being fairly realistic I'd say 2 points from that, possibly a win at one of the 'West' clubs. They also have Swansea Spuds and Villa at home. I'd have a guess at 5 points from that. I'll go out on a limb and say we have to lose all our remaining games to go down if QPR won today. Still want a draw really.
-
I see where you're coming from but it's not that bad. We won so we will be better off whatever happens. Worst case scenario we will have... - Dropped Reading and QPR completely out of contention, however unlikely they were to catch us before. - Dropped Stoke 3 points behind. - Gained 2 points on Swansea - Dropped Norwich another 2 points behind - Gained 3 points on Fulham OR dropped Newcastle another 3 behind OR gained 2 points on both of them - Gained 2 points and jumped above West Ham - We've improved our GD relative to Arsenal I'll be honest, I wont be putting too much money on Sunderland holding on to their lead either. I reckon draw. It also mean time is running out for the scenario to change. The teams below us now only have 6 games to pull it back.
-
We can still finish above West Ham although a lot will depend on next weekends game obviously. Their game in hand is at home to Man Utd in midweek and I'd say they are unlikely to win. The Chelsea game is the one I'm most interested in.
-
Call me premature if you like but what are your thoughts on these fixtures then? Liverpool vs. West Ham Spuds vs. Everton Chelsea vs. Sunderland Newcastle vs. Fulham QPR vs. Wigan Obviously we all want Liverpool and Chelsea to win and (baring any personal persuasions) don't give a sh*t about the Spuds game but what about the other 2. We are only 2 points behind Fulham but I think I'd rather keep Newcastle at arms length (currently 4 points and worse GD) below us. DRAW for me. The late kick off will be good however it pans out. Either Wigan stay 7 points behind, Saggy chops is sent down or a draw which marginally suits Wigan but still keeps them comfortably behind Saints. DRAW for me again.

Well we would be if we beat Stoke on the last day of the season. Would be a shame to be safe before then, I want us on the pitch 3 years in a row.
-
A game I think a lot of people will want to win a bit more than usual, or at least I do. Nothing personal against West Ham but it would be nice to be the top promoted side at the end of the year. I also remember a lot of the pundits droning on about how much better they had taken to the Premier League because they were beating Norwich, Villa and QPR whilst we were losing to Utd, City and Arsenal. That annoyed me a bit. Anyway, same team as today from me. Let's try not to make the mistake we did at Upton Park by going in hard on Carroll all the time. I've never seen a 7ft Geordie fall over like a school girl in a ballet quite so often.

Good, I'm off out for a curry so I can have another couple of pints before I wander back.
-
Promoted 3 years in a row. Can't just be coincidence surely.

To those at the game - Were Reading fans REALLY singing "Champion-es" at us today? If so, absolutely priceless. -
Does the Reading game bring closure to the Adkins era?
Lighthouse replied to pap's topic in The Saints
I would point out that this result doesn't prove in any way who is the better manager. If Poch was managing that Reading team and we still had Adkins, I think we still would have won. We are far superior to them and Adkins has a nigh on impossible task as far as staying up is concerned. Having said that I do think we've moved up a gear with Poch and I'm now satisfied Cortese made the right decision. Good luck Nigel, hopefully you can stop Saggy Chops getting promoted next season. Because Redknapp is definitely not going to jump ship if he goes down. Oh no, definitely not. He definitely wont bring in a bunch of sh*te players and leave in November with QPR drifting around in midtable. Never going to happen. -
Stoke equalise. Wanting them to win this, after Villa's good form this would be 2 defeats in a row for them (having lead both). Would leave them well behind Saints and knock the belief out of them.
-
Well, we have 33 points in the 22 games since losing at West Brom on Monday night. Extrapolated over a season that would give us 57 points. Last season that would have us in 7th place. Not sure about the question you're asking specifically though. Edit - Incidentally this form (1.5 points per game) is exactly the form Poch has achieved since he has been here. 15 points from 10 games.
-
The QPR vs Wigan game tomorrow will be great whatever happens. A QPR win keeps Wigan 7 points behind us A Wigan win sends Saggy chops down A draw would be perfect I think. Does neither team many favours.

Or we could have won 5-0 if Lambert had got a slight touch on Jrod's cross and Ramirez and Guly had scored their sitters. -
Vydra from Udinese would make sense on many levels.

Swansea Stoke Couldn't give a flying f**k
