  1. Matej Vydra CDAJFU Norwich losing now, more good news.
  2. Why do you want the Skates to only lose 1-0? I want 6 or 7 with at least a hat trick from Lee Barnard.
  3. Any chance of the refs at Loftus, Emirates and the Mad blowing for FT an hour early?
  4. Oldham 1-0 Pompey
  5. Hardly surprising, Reading really don't want to lose that and get cut adrift.
  6. I don't see that result as being all that bad. Win tomorrow and we're only 3 points behind Stoke. No reason we can't finish above Stoke, especially with them coming to St Marys on the last day. We also need to keep Stoke away from any chance of Europe so they have naff all to play for in that game. W00T for Arsenal.
  7. I'm going to say wins for Utd, Reading and West Brom but draws in the other fixtures, including us.
  8. Clubs will continue to charge ludicrous ticket prices for as long as people are willing to pay them. Sadly, to many people the Champions League is seen as the holy grail of football. I've lost count of the number of "he must be world class, he's scored a hat trick in the Champions League," type comments on this board, even if the hat trick was against Rosenborg or Slavia Praha. Clearly enough people are willing to pay £94 for a ticket for them to justify it.
  9. Who's going to buy a yellow SEAT though?
  10. I'd have thought Niemi was more expensive than Gazza. The latter I could have sworn was about £1.5m with a few add ons for apps etc. Niemi was at least £2m up front I think. Also In defence Killer and Hooiveld were both a shade over £2m so you could have them in for McQ, with Delap moving to his place in midfield. Up front I think Tin Man cost marginally more than Mayuka.
  11. I doubt it, Antonovs aren't built they're cast in solid iron. That's a fairly dubious attempt at aviation though, wouldn't fancy being on that flight. The physics of this are just mental. Amazing what you can do with an empty plane, a strong headwind and a very high angle of attack.
  12. Wouldn't mind nicking vydra off Udinese in summer. The bloke seems to know where the net is and fits the bill with his age and being in Italy.

  16. Ever had a bad landing on an Easyjet flight? Ever had to pay £50,000 excess baggage to take skis on Ryanair? It could be worse, you could have been on one of these flights... [video=youtube;26H-WzIe858]
  17. The invincibles was a good achievement, although I should point out that season could have gone very differently had Van Nistelrooy scored that penalty. If we were having this conversation back in 2004 I'd have agreed with you that Wenger was one of the best managers on the planet. However we aren't we're having this conversation 9 years later. He hasn't won anything since the FA Cup in 2005, a game they won on penalties after being dominated by Utd in the final. The closest they came was bottling the League Cup final against Brum a couple of years ago. He has uncovered a few decent young players in the time since but they have been few and far between. RVP, Fabregas, Nasri and Adebayor are probably the only top class players I can think of in that time. Wilshere I'm sure will be a top player but he's not there yet and is vastly overrated by some who want him to be England captain. He was outplayed completely by Cork and Morgan a few weeks ago. The fact is that he hasn't won anything for 8 years and I can't see that changing next year. There squad is full of crap players basically. They have a decent enough first XI with Szcszsczscszenszy in goal, Vermaelen, Theo, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere and possibly AOC. Beyond that though they've got the likes of Squillaci, Koscielny, Coquelin, Gervinho. Giroud will have to improve to justify his price tag. Rosicky and Arshavin just look like they can't be arsed half the time.

It's just not the same without Jarvis Cocker, Chumba Wamba and Ginger Spice's knockers.
  19. I'm not so sure I really rate Wenger. I know he's been Arsenals best ever manager statistically and he's had them in the Champions League for feck knows how long but a lot of his success has been down to finding half a dozen decent players around the turn of the century. He built a great team around Henry, Vieira, Pires, Campbell and Bergkamp which peaked in 2004. Since then age has taken it's toll on that team and the replacements have just been getting worse and worse. I mean Chamakh, Gervinho, Pascal Cygan FFS. That's the difference between him and Fergie. The latter has been uncovering and developing talent for 2 decades. One generation of top players replaces another. Whereas Wenger looks fresh out of ideas buying anyone who looks sort of alright in France and chucking large sums of cash into our youth academy.
  20. That truly is an incredible act. How on earth does he find 38 people who'd want a Stephane M'bia shirt?
  21. Where have you got that number from? We don't need 10, I don't think anyone is saying 10. 5 is the most I would expect. We don't need to replace all the players we get rid of, far from it. Our squad is just too big at the moment. We have 44 players listed as being first team players on wiki. It does include a few youngsters, 8 by my reckoning who've yet to play for the first team but 36 senior players is a heck of a lot. 11 more than we really need. 15 out 5 in would be a great summer.
  22. They didn't really in the grand scheme of things. Things like that are always going to happen to pretty much every club except the top 2 or 3. All of those incidents could have happened and we could still have been in the top 6, if only we'd been decent the rest of the time. We've had similar incidents this season. Wigan, Man Utd, Stoke... 3 wins lost in injury time but we could quite easily finish in about 11th if we have a decent run in. Why, because despite the isolated incidents we still look a pretty decent side. Killer and Oakley being injured, Claus and Jackobsson being sh*te, Le Saux and Dodd being too old. Those are the things which had a huge impact.
  23. I've not really been following this thread too closely but is it too late to form a Southampton Supporters trust and try to outbid the PST? Obviously Pompey fans are better than us but I reckon we've got more of them (aside from the 200,000 who lined the streets after they won the cup) as such I think we could raise more capital and out bid them. Imagine the fun we could have if WE owned Pompey. We could rename Fratton, 'The Matt Le Tissier International Stadium' and paint the seats red and white. Then sign a load of players from the womens Sunday League.
