Cracking news on Daws and Abbott, I wonder if this is part of a string of announcements over the next couple of weeks. Would be great to get Nelly back for the T20 if we can and we’ve an obvious need for a multi-format batter.

Both pilots and air traffic controllers have to pass a fairly stringent medical exam, which would usually be done before a new trainee even begins simulator training. Blind people with psychiatric disorders are quite simply never going to pass and even be allowed to begin training.

I can just picture the scenario now… It’s late April and Saints are playing Leicester at St Mary’s. With five games left, both clubs are in a three way battle for automatic promotion, it’s a real six-pointer. With 70 minutes on the clock, it’s 1-1 and Leicester have a throw in on the halfway line. Words are said between their LB about to take it and a nearby Saints winger. Seeing this Stephens runs over from 40 yards away to get involved for no apparent reason. After a brief exchange of shouting, Stephens leans in with one of those ridiculous fake headbutts and the Leicester player goes down in a heap. Stephens is immediately red carded and protests his innocence and indignation. Saints are forced to try and hang on for a draw with ten men, only to concede a Jamie Vardy penalty in stoppage time. After the game, some fans will make a weird attempt to defend Stephens by saying, "yeah, we’ll at least he cares, I wish more of our players were a bit like that."

No doubting Stu was a decent player for us in the past but he’s not looked like a PL player since he caught Covid four years ago, so I for one wouldn’t have been happy if he’d stayed. I also couldn’t care less if he ‘knows the club’, our player of the season by a mile is a lad who’s never even played in this country before. Let’s have some more of them, not more Lallanas and Walcotts.
-
I’d rather we started signing some players who are good now, rather than players who used to be like Armstrong or Lallana. This is another of those ‘if he hadn’t been here before nobody would be suggesting it’ ideas.

No chance, that’s 3% of a Peshwari naan paid for.

Guys, it was posted by at @transf3r_scout, how can this NOT be true? He spells ‘transfer’ with a 3, what better source could you ask for?!

Prutton, just for the hair.

Time for us to get mugged off by the tractor boys in injury time again. Any chance of Wellington and Gronbaek being in the squad I wonder.
-
No, they suggest that there’s very little tabloid or agent interest in a reserve goalkeeper going on loan for six months, so there’s probably very little to be gained in making up bullsh*t click bait. He’s only been back in contention for reserve games for a week or two and it’s barely been four days since Juric said we’d loan him out.

I quite like their urban ULEZ policy.
-
Most people didn’t deserve what happened to them in every conflict throughout human history. Saying it should matter is a nice sentiment but it’s not changing any time soon.
-
What anyone deserves in all this doesn’t even enter into the equation.

Fair enough I guess. I think my memories of him last year are somewhat distorted by how abysmal he is in the PL.

No Political Protests At St Marys Stadium.. thank you
Lighthouse replied to SaintsLoyal's topic in The Saints
Plenty of threads in the lounge discussing politics, protests and Tiss’ ‘theories’ about the alien lizard queen. -
Offloading a proven 20-30 goal involvement player like Armstrong BEFORE we’ve actually been promoted is straight out of the Ankersen playbook of thinking differently. Bednarek is also a very good Championship CB and McCarthy is fine as back up. The time to offload them is summer ‘26 IF we do get promoted. That said, we agree on one thing, Stephens can p*ss off.
-
Gronbaek may or may not stay and I’d like to see the back of Suga and Smallbone, should the chance arise. Stewart will be hard to shift but someone may take him on loan, especially if we still have Archer, BBD and Armstrong. Wouldn’t be upset to see Stephens p*ss off either but that’s probably wishful thinking.
-
I make it 37 first team players we’ve got on the books right now. It’s a ridiculous number, personally I’d say we need to offload 15 before we bring in about 5 in summer.
-
Achievement is relative. Getting that Wednesday team solidly into the top half would be a much better achievement than finishing fifth with Leeds, for example. Rohl is doing an excellent job there with obviously inferior players to the ones Saints will likely have next season. I’m not saying I’m desperate for us to get him but all the signs point to him being a decent manager at that level. I don’t care if he only has 18 months experience, personally, I care about what he can do for us in the future.
-
I can't say that I did, personally, who were you expecting more goals from? All those numbers (aside from Dibling) are basically on par with what those players have done before at this level. In their most recent season, Archer and Armstrong scored four and two goals, respectively.
-
This season we have the widest, smoothest, flattest pathway in the history of the PL. If a youngster wants first team appearances it's quite simple; be better than Adam Armstrong, James Bree or Will Smallbone. If they can't do that, I would suggest they're not ready for PL football. There was a similar conversation on here last summer, with various people suggesting Dibling would be better off at Chelsea with Jimmy Jay Morgan because the path was blocked here. Six months later, who's played more PL football?
-
Nothing's easy at this level of professional football but it's well within the realms of possibility if we get the managerial appointment right and recruit fairly sensibly.
-
I count five at best; Fernandes, Dibling, Ramsdale, KWP and at a push THB.
-
Two teams who finished below them last season are second and third
-
Two completely independant managers have decided not to play ABK for a single minute this season, not including that weird Cardiff half hour to try and show buyers he didn't have a heart problem. Whatever is going on with him, there seems to be a solid reason why he's behind an average Championship RB in the queue to play CB. Wood has had a couple of reasonable enough games but he's still nowhere near being a PL standard defender.
