Personally i take Jones' time at Stoke with a pinch of salt. Like taking Moyes time at Sunderland as evidence of that being his standard. As far as i can see he's done an excellent of getting a team playing greater than the sum of its part, which feels like a big plus. No clue if he's in for job, or if there are better candidates but definitely feel the anyone but Jones' cries are OTT.

There were periods in his reign where i was very excited about what proved to be false dawns that turned into too many horrendous runs. Felt he should have gone at the end of last season. This season he has just seemed lost. He abandoned his pressing style for a horrendous non football, which was the final straw when it came to my wavering on the fence. Hope they haven't left it too late and they have someone lined up.

Personally i’d Argue that stoke are a mess, that continue to suck down managers as Sunderland did for years. Been very impressed with what he has done with limited resources at Luton. Could be a good fit imo.

Saints 1-4 Newcastle - Match Thread

Apparently the positive of this season was despite playing turgid football we didn't concede many. Cue Newcastle scoring 4 from 4 shots on target. Overall that was horrid. I have no clue what ralph's plan is each week. We certainly have no identity. Brief period at the end of the first half and beginning of the 2nd where our lack of any kind of finisher cost us the chance to equalise. Given how easily they scored their 4 it likely wouldn't have made any difference. No clue what Walcott shows in training(maybe they play table football) because he looks lost on an actual football pitch. I'm utterly fed up of our corner routine. Trot JWp out to swing the ball in. It's so utterly predictable why can't we ocassionally go short. We're not scoring by the let JWP cross it for them to head it clear approach. Equally defensively i hate how we pull everyone back into our own box so evenb if we win the first ball the opposition get a 2nd chance -

JWP just awful there. Nice finish by Guimares though -

They literally passed the ball to walcott and he looked lost and almost gave them the ball back. -

Playing walcott is like playing 10 men. -

I missed the first 15 minutes.(so maybe we were good then but i doubt it) Since i've been watching we've been utter garbage with exception of move at end of the half where Moi(who had been exceptionally bad) missed a proper chance. -

Thishas been truly abysmal. How is Ralph still in a job. -
Other managers do it. Just a week ago potter took off Cucurella in first half as they were completely under the cosh.

When I looked at the starting lineup I thought we’ll lose because we have zero pace. Too often ralph’s Ralph’s lineups have me scratching my head. find it bizarre that Adam Armstrong didn’t get any minutes despite our failure to score.
-
My concern with our lineup is the lack of any pace in it.

See echo suggesting we won’t recall in Jan, which I find very disappointing given our poor options and how well he has performed.

I disagree. Edozie is still very rough round the edges. 20/30 spells as an impact sub seem the best use of him imo. -
Don't see this he looks lost at all. Sure he's not the deadly Ings replacement we were hoping for but he's definitely deserving of being around the starting xi of this squad currently. Personally i'd like to see us bring back Tella and have him challenge for that spot but right now Armstrong is ahead of Walcott/Djenepo/Mara/Edozie as a starter.

Same battling qualities but a bit more quality in possession than in particular Bournemouth display Really nice to see us score a good goal. Carved them apart. S. Armstrong has to start for his intelligent movement. Elyounessi had one of his good games. Good defensively and played his part in the goal. Lyanco is one of my favourite players. Adds a nastier mentality, though hopefully we can convince him to avoid the headswipes. That was an awful dive by Walcott. Happy with ref as it would have been easy for him to give them one of the extremely soft penalty appeals, given they are top of the league. -

Not the worst display by us. Good goal by Xhaka. Don't really feel we carry much threat though, even when we have a spell of decent passing. Most disappointing thing is the set pieces. Zero Threat from the 6 we've had. Surely we should at least throw in the odd play it short or threat of it. Also still dislike how we pull everyone back for their corners. Makes it difficult for ourselves when we win the first ball. Perraud really struggling with Saka. Also not sure how the ref only came up with 2 minutes added time. Though was sure he was going to give one of those penalty shouts, so positive from that point of view. -

Adams Hamstring issue. Got to wonder why he's even on the bench. -

Not a huge fan of that set up. With us it tends to end up being 5-4-1 with the 1 isolated rather than 3-4-3. If we are going to go 3 at the back i'd prefer to see 2 up top. -
Adams wins it. Honorable mentions to the cb’s stopping a horrible performance resulting in lost points.
-
A sensible board would ignore the result (against what will likely end up being the weakest team in the division) and focus on the dire performance.

Might as well give Payne a game given the lack of options. Wonder if we should go 5 at the back as our wide midfield options are awful and our cb’s look decent for once. Bazanu payne lyanco caleta-car salisu djenepo diallo jwp armstrong adams armstrong -
I’m happy we got 3 points against the weakest team in the league on paper. but i’m Not happy that our approach was a desperate backs to wall and being relieved that Bournemouth lacked any real cutting edge. Ralph has to go.
