This mananger is a real dud i fear. We simply have no central midfield, no pressing intensity or off the ball drilling at all, and our defensive shape is abysmal... And thats outside of the fact that he sets the team up to play suicidally as his desired way of playing. Selles would have been far better than this shit. In all seriousness, I just wish we had never sacked Ralph tbh. Would rehire him in a heartbeat even now. And I think I'll say this every week... Playing us is the footballing equivalent of taking candy from a baby. I don't think I've ever seen a worse saints side defensively. It's just embarrassing if nothing else. The players must hate it being made to look like absolute idiots every other minute and every single game.

I'd say its not looking promising to watch it over Now TV sadly.
-
£27M. 3 years left, club captain, best player, plays every minute of every game for basically 3 seasons consecutively (bar that Chelsea red)... Such bad business by us.
-
Exactly as Fareham says... Baz had as good a game as possible considering the shit show going on in front of him, his distribution was pretty damn good as well (not that Martin wants us playing that way).
-
Einstein was naive though...
-
Its the bit where he said the fans were naive for expecting better that really reminded me of Nathan Jones. Pressure is getting to him already.

Its far worse that last season imo. We've got one of the best squads in the league even after relegation. The last games hassenhuttle had with a fit squad he beat Chelsea and outplayed united.... Feels like an absolute age ago and we've had some absolute dross managers in since then. We've lost 9-1 over the last 2 games... Yet martin's just called the fanbase naïve in his post match interview... and he's done that at the same time as saying he's proud of tonight's performance 🤣. Are Leicester fan's naïve for expecting their team to bounce back? I thought post Sunderland and in this pre match he was already starting to make excuses, but now he's escalating to criticising the fans already?! Obviously feeling the pressure a bit, but a worrying sign none the less. And how can anyone be more naïve than this manager in all seriousness? His tactics are batshit suicidal and he can't just tell the players to "defend better than they are"... whilst saying "I'm really proud of them doing what we want them to do"... Does he really not realise he needs to change his tactics ffs. 16goals in 6 league games, no clean sheets, humiliated by Gillingham ffs, and we're naïve.

Cheerio cheerio cheerio....
-
Just an absolute joke to be honest. Better magic up some tactical Nous or i can see him not being here for Stoke.
-
May as well try to throw an absolute wedge at potter - if you don't ask you don't get, and if he was interested we'd be mad not to take him in a heartbeat.
-
I look forward to the usual suspects finding ways to blame Baz for once again being on the receiving end of Russball.
-
Stronger squad by the end of the window they said. Win the league they said... 9-1 down over the past 100min of football.
-
This manager is clueless. Gifted 4 goals. He was a defender as well ffs.
-
Selection unforgiveable and tactics are just utter nonsense.
-
Appallingly bad defensively - and that is on the manager. He's had 2.5 months with them and a great many games now.... and yet still a bunch of u10's would default to better defensive positions than he has us playing. No CDM, fullbacks out of position, no pressing, suicidal playing out from the back when the opposition is setup to press it perfectly and we have had success at playing longer from Baz. Just shocking. Sunderland was one thing, but its clear he not only hasn't learned, but that he is not interested in learning. Also pressing in 1s is pointless, we just waste energy, and free up a Leicester player in the middle which allows them to very quickly spread the ball up field and put us under pressure - basics!! Playing against us must be like taking candy from a child.
-
Ralph would destroy this league with these players.
-
Martin has a colossal amount to answer for.
-
Agreed. Its why i am not concerned in the slightest over losing Tella.

I pretty much roll my eyes at the people making out he's been poor this year and at fault for loads of goals. There have been a couple where you'd like him to maybe get nearer, but he's nowhere near as bad as some are making out. The defence has made loads of errors and we're set up to be extremely vulnerable and give away a lot of chances. He's a solid keeper, has good distribution and sweeper play, and his mentality must be strong (because despite finishing bottom last year and having fans on his back constantly, he doesn't show any real signs of low confidence imo. Playing for a year in the championship in a winning side (and with a defence and midfield that will get used to playing together) will do him a lot of good - and hopefully he'll develop his command of the back line / cb's once we get some stability. I think people forget he's a young keeper that went up 2 divisions and played behind a total shit show of a side last season. He's not as bad as many make out, and he certainly has a lot of potential.
-
Agreed, we are appalling from a defensive perspective, and a huge amount of that blame lies with the manager and the way the team are setup. He needs to tailor his tactics to improve this or we're going to struggle to meet expectations this season.
-
Well it certainly won't be 0-0!
-
I like to think of the broken clock analogy when it comes to people like MLT - they say so much nonsense... but then, just by the law of averages, some of it probably isn't that far off 😂

To be honest, i don't know what you are trying to say because you've contradicted yourself. Saint Clark was opining that having a lot of shots (more in fact that any other team in the league) means we aren't boring to watch. And your response/stance was firstly that those stats have no relevance at all to how we played (quote below)... And yet here you then are (quote above) saying that those stats are subsequent (i.e. caused by and therefore directly related) to our playing style... There are a great many stats used in football, how they are impacted by style of play is ofc relevant to how useful they are in the discussion being used - and i haven't seen anyone say different. Personally, xG (which you seem to have been previously railing against) is a very good indicator of the quality of attacking chances sides create, and similarly most fans would argue that teams that create a lot of chances (particularly good ones) are not boring to watch.

Whitey is absolutely spot on SC... We play the way we play purely to generate shots for the betting market... how can you not see that?..... Absolutely nothing to do with effective playstyles, generating chances, trying to score, stopping the oppo etc 😂
