Cheers Mikey, couldn't get printscreen to work on my laptop, just kept on screenshotting what was behind FM, which was odd. Gave up and carried on playing. Currently 6th with 5 games to play! Come on you rams!

The only time I have ever come close to going to Liverpool (it doesn't really count at all) was to go to Goodison Park with an old housemate that was a toffees fan. We drove across from Leeds, found an old pub with a kid in a hi-vis jacket directing people to park in the car park - charging a fiver a pop. Come back after the game to find the kid gone, and all the cars parked there with parking tickets. That kid is my hero.

There probably aren't many to be fair, Kompany certainly springs to mind. Yeah, I bet Nesta, Costacurta, Cannavarro & Maldini never would have been up to the PL. I agree to some extent. I can't immediately think of many better. Though I'd be hesitant to say he is the best. He's at a good age though, still room to improve so maybe in a couple of years there is a chance he could be. -

I'd imagine the % of footballers that are black is probably a bit higher though? -
Didn't really have a choice. I lived in Leeds, but was unemployed and getting into stupid amounts of debt, plus the stress was really exacerbating some previous illnesses. I was applying for jobs all over the country, I'd have gone wherever the work was - which happened to be London.

Is homeownership as opposed to renting still a no-brainer?
KelvinsRightGlove replied to Halo Stickman's topic in The Lounge
May I ask how old your sons are? I may be in a similar boat to them. I'm 24, about 2 years into my "Career". I rent in London, meaning that after rent, bills, tax travel etc there really isn't much left to save towards a deposit. It is frustrating, as I could afford the mortgage payments, but yeah trying to rent and get together a deposit is nigh on impossible. I think for many people of 'my generation' (sorry hate that phrase), homeownership is less of an option as we have to go where the work is - which is often Cities, which generally have higher housing costs due to a lack of availability. The annoying thing with renting is you are paying someone else's mortgage, and some, without the return (in theory) you get from ownership. This is made worse by the fact that Landlords are just evil. Money grabbing, schemers that will do anything, regularly and continually brake the law cashing in on peoples lack of knowledge to nickle and dime everything they can out of tenants. In busy Cities they know they hold all the cards, so can completely take advantage of people. There really should be tougher regulation on them, although granted I am sure there are plenty of nightmare tenants around too. Attitudes will probably shift away from the ownership at all costs I think, there are plenty of other places where homeownership is much less of a concern - although housing is often cheaper in these places too. -

An interesting take on the issue from Graeme Le Saux here: http://reflectionsasia.wordpress.com/2007/09/11/graeme-le-saux-how-gay-slurs-almost-wrecked-my-career/ -

Lol does that make him the best CB in the Prem? -
Nicky C is never happy toks, NEVER!! And Mikey, have you read this place, the fans will never be happy, just dewy eyed for the past. Had a shocker with Ipswich, board sold my 2 best players and gave me no money, eventually got sacked - that hasn't happened in a long time! Started a new game with Derby, came second first season currently very stable in the Prem second season. Though predicting where I will finish is nigh on impossible, tightest league I have ever seen bout 28 games in and something like 5 points seperates 4-13! How do I post a screenshot?

Thanks guys, these have both cheered me up.

I quite like them. Read an article about the best bands you've ever heard last year and they were strongly recommended. Have only listened to bits and pieces, and mean to listen to more but keep forgetting. Cheers for the nudge bud.

Yup, me and the gf have been doing long-distance for nearly 3 years, it's hard but you get used to it. It also means you actually do stuff with the time you spend together.

I'm not on half that!! -
True, but I still pay more than the average mortgage repayment (for where I live) and the house isn't and never will be mine.

Can't see me ever getting a mortgage, let alone being mortgage free

Most of the bars around my office are £4.50-£5 a pint. Granted it is an expensive area. -

I work near Tottenham Court Road, we often pop into Seven Dials for a cheeky pint at lunch. Peroni is £5.40 a pint (only one I can remember), basically pints are £5! On Xmas eve in Donny I ordered 3 Spirit & Mixers, paid with a £20 and got £11 change. As I said, I asked the bloke if that was for all 3? -
Hard to compare the two runs. We had our best defence during an easier run. And then were facing harder games with our second(/third) choice players. If when Boruc, Big Vic et al are all back and we are still leaking goals I will be worried. Until that point, it's frustrating to see. But realistically a club our size isn't going to have like-for-like replacements for Big Vic any time soon. The amount of defensive injuries at once against the opposition we have had would hurt anyone.

I will admit, it is f***ing expensive. Was in Doncaster for xmas with the family. Went out with my cousins on Xmas Eve, spent the night laughing at Barmen when they told me the price of my round, and double-checking that was for all the drinks not one. Really bought it home. -

As someone that was born in, grew up and now live in London (well greater LDN at least) I 100% agree with you. The people that moan about London are generally the ones that have never spent any time here. It's a city almost without a comparable counterpart. History, Art, Business, Music, Theatre, Sport, Food, Culture everything you could possibly name, London has it in spades. -

I don't think we are quite there yet, but hopefully moving towards that. It was before my time, but I'm told there was a time when monkey chants were pretty common. Simply couldn't imagine many people getting involved in that now. It will, unfortunately, take time. And more brave people who will have to be prepared to put their heads above the parapet and probably take some flack for it. But the more people that follow Hitzlsperger's lead, the better it gets. Especially if they can do it whilst still playing. -
